Tony Blair Expected To Address Mogul Confab

One of the big surprises of Herbert Allen's Sun Valley retreat this week was the news that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair would be among the guests. Though no official announcement was made, the news broke via various media on Wednesday afternoon.

Fortune noted, however, that there is a rhyme to Mr. Allen's reason: Mr. Blair has had a long relationship with one of the conference's highest profile attendees, Rupert Murdoch. Media reports have also speculated that Mr. Murdoch may offer Mr. Blair a seat on News Corporation's board.

Indeed, Mr. Murdoch is one of the event's most closely watched guests given his $5 billion bid for Dow Jones which has yet to be approved by Dow's board.
