Times Editor May Join WSJournal As Publisher
Speculation was growing today that Times editor Robert Thomson will join the Wall Street Journal in a senior position, possibly as publisher.
After News Corporation announced its takeover of Wall Street Journal owner Dow Jones for $5.6bn (£2.8bn) today, the ambitions of the News Corporation chairman and chief executive, Rupert Murdoch, for the company became clearer.
Mr Murdoch wants to beef up general news and political reporting at the Journal, America's second highest-circulating newspaper, so it can take on the New York Times in the US and the Financial Times internationally.
