Boston Globe:

At a rally in Ames, Iowa, on the eve of last weekend's straw poll, Mitt Romney invited his siblings onstage with his children and grandchildren. "Boy, we've got the whole gopher village up here," he told the crowd with a grin. "This is so much fun."

"Whoop-de-do!" he says of John Edwards's proposal to let Americans save $250 tax-free. "Gosh, I love America," Romney said during one GOP debate. After hitting a long golf drive in one of his campaign videos, he shouts, "Holy moly!"

Until I read the newly published "With God on Their Side" (St. Martin's Press), Michael Weinstein's disturbing account of anti-Semitism at the U.S. Air Force Academy, I shrugged off each of these remarks, and so much more, as isolated, almost comically intolerant noises out of True Believer Land. Forgive them, Lord, for they know not what they do.

Well that's why I keep thinking of the Rambler by American Motors ('The Sensible Spectaculars') when it's Romney. It's that dull car that was bought and driven by old people.

Having grown up in the 50s with a diet of Ozzie, Harriet, David and Ricky "the perfect family", and looked what happened to poor old Ricky. Then of course we had the "perfect and wise" father Robert Young who turned out to be a raging alcoholic during the filming of his much watched "Father Knows Best". Can you imagine having to grow up gaging yourself and your family against that bullshit? We don't need more of the Romney persona to set us back in time. We are having enough trouble in just trying to march forward.

Actually Mitt takes his cues from far further back than the 1950's, he likes the 1913's when races couldn't inter marry, he used that FOUL PUTRID law to ban out state gays/lesbians from marrying in his states.
Ozzie and Harriet would be a step up for Mittler.

ALL I hear is mitt saying people are DONATEING to his RUN for president.
IF so why did he put $ 5, million into his own coffers last month or the month befor, thenn put another $ 11,million of his own money again into his own coffers.
IF every one is donateing to his run plus why would any one just like bush will send your son to DIE IN IRAQ BUT WONT SEND HIS OWN >
SLEFIDSH, OR DOSE HE BELIVE OUR TROOPS HAVE BEEN WASTED TO.

Now now, don't be so hard on the Beaver... He DID say he truly by gosh wanted to go to VietNam.

Just some unexplained irregularities kept him from going, and he'll explain them to us as soon as his speechwriters make them u... oh excuse me, I mean as soon as he remembers the exact details, yeah, that's right...

I SAW MITT ROMNEY UP CLOSE ONCE...

Doing a photo-op on a street corner in Boston near where I used to work. He's actually not nearly as tall as he looks in his pix, but you gotta admit, he is a pretty good-looking guy in a plastic sort of (yes, fifties) way.

If they voted for W., they'll vote for this guy.
They're smarter this time around, they want someone a little wittier in the White House.

He is originally from Dearborn, Michigan.

You've probably heard/read about Dearborn's massive Arab population.

What you don't know is that many parts of Dearborn are arrested in the '50s.

Ah yes, the fifties, where, for people of Mitt's faith, those uppity black folks knew their place.

Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver.

Stop and think of that: a beaver cleaver. How did that get past the censors?

Hey ! Don't be so hard on the beaver !

If I didn't say it, someone else would have.

The 1950's? you mean when brave Americans enlisted in the military to fight the commies in Korea and many like my uncle, a marine, did not come back.

Where are your sons mitt. Take the Winnabago to the recruting office now.

Or when the mormons wouldn't let blacks into their chrurch?

Great times eh Mitt?

Romney isn't Father Knows Best or Ozzie and Harriet...it's much darker and more sinister under current, I'd compare him to the mayor of Pleasantville.
