New Bush Admin Rules Aim To Block Child Health Care Programs

New York Times:

The Bush administration, continuing its fight to stop states from expanding the popular Children's Health Insurance Program, has adopted new standards that would make it much more difficult for New York, California and others to extend coverage to children in middle-income families.

Administration officials outlined the new standards in a letter sent to state health officials on Friday evening, in the middle of a month-long Congressional recess. In interviews, they said the changes were aimed at returning the Children's Health Insurance Program to its original focus on low-income children and to make sure the program did not become a substitute for private health coverage.

Why is the government involved in health care?

Why is the government involved in 90% of what it does? We as a people are slowly handing responsibilities over to the federal government.

Once the government controls health care, it controls the individuals.

Sorry...my powers of observation have failed me as I just realized that some HAVE commented on the picture.

Why hasn't anyone commented on the picture accompanying this story. I think it says it all. Bush has become a faith healer and therefore no child will need healthcare again. Just the power of prayer and laying on of hands by the commander-in-chimp.

This administration has bombs to pay for. Got to cut corners somewhere. Par for their course, the voiceless and powerless get cut out of the picture first when this crowd is doing the trimming.

The Bush administration is going to use the money it saves on these programs to bail out the Hedge Fund managers...after all some of them are being forced to unload their yachts and scale back to 12,000 sq. ft. homes,

Heil Bush!

Ahh, those compassionate conservatives at work again!

Isn't it refreshing to see them take the moral high ground once again? To see them care more about Americans than about money?

Doesn't it give you that special feeling....like you want to vomit?

G.W. ole boy, Jesus said:

"Suffer not unto the little children, fore what you do unto them, you do unto Me..!"

Simple as that..!

Congress gets free health care as well as the idiot's in the white house why shouldn't everyone else.? As most of them are very wealthy they should pay for their health care not the taxpayers. NUFF SAID>

The imbecile can waste $500,000,000,000 dollars on a phony war heading to who knows only where and our tax dollars cannot be utilized to fund health care for our nation's children and the needy. I guess when your killing and maiming tens of thousands why would you be interested in providing health care.
