Senate Wants Bush Spying Documents Today

First Posted: 03/28/08 03:44 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 01:10 PM ET

Today at 2:30 p.m., the clock runs out on the latest deadline for the White House to turn over materials regarding the National Security Agency's eavesdropping program to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The White House is likely to miss that deadline, counsel Fred F. Fielding warned committee Chairman Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) on Friday. The work to compile the documents demanded by the senators -- from the White House, the office of the vice president, the National Security Council and the Justice Department -- is "by no means complete," Fielding said. He asked for an extension until after Labor Day.

[Continuation; Part II]

By this standard (having some grasp of reality), there are as much as TWO candidates (for presidency ’08), who thus qualify their campaign to be considered as serious. Which is not much, just a slight last chance, but infinitely more than we, impotent Europeans have. Please, Americans, make the best of it. The world needs you, once more.

YOU, of course, I mean, you the people. You, who once made a revolution, the only successful in world history, for freedom, justice and morality, against imperialism, demagogy and keeping the masses dumb. We need YOU patriots, are you still there?!?!

We need NO MORE of this SOAP OPERA currently performed in your name, by Hillary, Barrack, Rudy, Mitt and all the others ghosts from a period now irrevocably passing away.

You will guess who they are. Beside Ron Paul (R), consider Dennic Kucinich (D):

Kucinich Points to Roosevelt Recovery Precedents

» August 20, 2007 (LPAC)--In a discussion with the editorial board of the Boston Globe, August 17, Democratic Presidential pre-candidate Dennis Kucinich promised to create a new version of Franklin Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration, putting Americans to work building infrastructure. In Dover, Maine, he said, "there are trillions of infrastructure needs," according to Seacoastonline.com, August 17. By rebuilding schools, roads and bridges, for starters, Americans will have ample job opportunities at good wages. «

As I said, earlier above (posted 04:37 pm on 08/20/2007) that E.U. Europeans (save Italy) are even a hundred times worse than living tragedy U.S.A. I meant that they are in complete denial to the threatening crash of civilization.

Where in America there is a huge degree of superficiality and ignorance covering up what IS, on the other hand, causing great pains to a (still!) significant (and growing!) number of keen individuals aware of the unbelievable fraud going on by the framers of an UNCONSTITUTIONAL FED SYSTEM of private money creation (to just name the top of the iceberg), -- WE, in E.U. Europe, deeming ourselves knowledgeable, enlightened, educated, we are happy, even proud, yeah veritably doting and slobbering over the “huge achievement” of HAVING CASTRATED OURSELVES POLITICALLY via the Maastricht-Euro process (“achievement” for peace, presumptively, for “progress”, for the mortification of any kind of patriotism as a hindrance for ushering in the world government!).

We have made of a silly, feeble, dubious person, called Monsieur Trichet, a puppet at the strings of his monetarist backseat oligarchs an effective super-government, enthroned now and inclined to become our fate.

Just one hint to the degree of our denial:

Saxon State Bank Crisis Finally Wakes Up German Chancellor
http://www.larouchepac.com/news/2007/08/20/saxon-state-bank-crisis-finally-wakes-german-chancellor.html

» The Saxon crisis finally woke up Chancellor Angela Merkel, just returned to Germany from her sightseeing tour of Greenland's melting glaciers. [...] Since the financial market crisis has deepened considerably since June, Merkel's remarks are significantly out of date. As acting head of the G-8 for 2007, she should call for a New Bretton Woods conference to be attended by the most important countries. «

Subversion by a domestic enemy is an impeachable offense, no?

http://www.light-to-dark.com/a_retrospective.html

I believe the Senate Republicans might sacrifice party and Republic for a dictatorship. Scary and reckless, are these "patriots."

If Bush stops responding to Congress, what will it be bound by the Constitution to do?.

I didn't want to say earlier, but I have a copy of the documents. Hoo boy, they're chock full of good stuff. Things about Democrats and liberals and the kook-left, homozeckuals, global warming alarmists, pro-abortion activists, etc.

Oh yea, way in the back there's a small paragraph about terrorists.

As long as the Congress will permit delay .. for whatever reason, for however long .. it will continue to be ignored by this Administration.

As well it should, because if Congress does not bare its teeth it is effectively toothless.

The net effect of what is going on is even more disturbing: the U.S. Congress is aiding and abetting crimes, by means of their refusal to investigate, indict, and impeach in response to those crimes.

If you want to get some attention:

"You have twenty-four hours to deliver these documents. Otherwise, in forty-eight hours we will introduce Articles of Impeachment against you and ask for an immediate floor vote. The charges will be obstruction of justice and contempt of Congress. The Senate has agreed to meet in emergency session in fifty-two hours to consider the approved Articles."

Once that they realize you are serious, there will be a skid-mark all the way from Pennsylvania Avenue right up to the Capitol.

leahy at 2:30 presser said he would seek full committee vote on contempt of congress citations when the senate returns. from there it would go to the floor for ratification by entire senate. not sure if such a motion can be made filibuster-proof. if it passes, next stop, sgt at arms arrests named "contumacious individuals" (as senate called them in a 19th century contempt case.) this ain't no dud firework today. it's a long fuse.

The pattern has already been set, if the Senate wants something from the Bush administration they're going to have to take it by a force stronger than executive privilege - give them one last ultimatum, turn over the docs by September 11, or we will come and get them, have a nice day.

No sooner will there be an end to this completely farcical existence congress has condemned itself to until they seriously start to go for Cheney’s hide. Time is over-over-overripe. Hopefully, they’ll come around before this criminal starts his new war. This wish, however, has already become all but illusory.

(Drumbeat against Iran Continues
http://www.larouchepac.com/news/2007/08/20/drumbeat-against-iran-continues.html )

The U.S. has become a living tragedy. Unfortunately, solely, without a spark of dignity left. A soap opery with a threatened end of mass murder beyond anything Hitler could have dreamed of (if the world economy disintegrates, soon, and Cheney is still in power, prepared and invited – by our spineless congress and electioneering pre-candidates – to seek his fascist “solution” of asymmetric world war for globalization’s “credibility crisis” ensuing from the looming bankruptcy)

(just a tiny sample of reality, a wispy inkling of things to come: Speculators Target Food
http://www.larouchepac.com/news/2007/08/20/speculators-target-food.html )

And as I write these lines as a European (German), let it be stated that beyond a doubt, every European nation, except Italy, is even a hundred times worse still.

Please, don’t anyone think I ever were given to overstating my case. By God, I’m not. Shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame --- (where is my limit)

WOW!

Leaky wants Bush to release the "spying documents" (sic) to him by 2:30 PM.

Why? So Leaky will have a "window" to get them to the NY Times for tomorrow's publication?
04:47 PM on 08/20/2007
man, there's no doubt about that.....
04:25 PM on 08/20/2007
"Seriously you guys, we're serious this time. Hand over the documents, like we said, or, we'll, you know--we'll be forced to, um, ASK FOR THEM AGAIN!!!, or something. Seriously now, we mean it--hand 'em over," etc. etc. ad bloody nauseum. >yawn!
