I don't care who stopped it because the immigration bill was flawed. It was not the death of immigration reform. It was the death of immigration reform that would not work.

It is obvious that both the Democrats and Republicans want the Latino votes and neither mind pandering to groups that want more free government supplied and tax payer funded benefits to law breakers.

It is no wonder why this country is so screwed up all the time.

To hell with the Mexican, the North American Union, and anyone that does not speak English or refuses to learn English in the US.
We also do not want that horrible Trans Texas corridor or the secret society group the Beiderbecks getting involved in ruining the country.

Texas Governor Rick Perry is meeting with them to fast track the Trans Texas Corridor. In the worst case would run from central Mexico to the larger cities in Canada. If that happens, there will be no control of any immigration.

Then the country will be more in the toilet than it is currently. There will be bloodshed in the streets and at the Southern Border to keep the law breaking / drug smuggling / grey market garbage out.

Thank God for Lou Dobbs and the Minutemen. Someone need to protect our border from the invading herds of wretched refuge. The governemnt is horribly corrupt and it is up to the US citizent to stand up for justice in fighting lawlessness and the broken southern border. Join in the cause by boycotting all things in Spanish.

Immigration laws very-much exist to PROTECT the immigrant from the ruthless exploitation .. slavery .. to which they are otherwise routinely subjected.

Most distressing to me is the fact that none of the official proposals are really OFFERING these people a path to Citizenship. It is only a path by which they would continue to be exploited, and exploitable.

Let's be frank here: slavery, obviously, has NOT gone-away from the agricultural fields of this country. Not in a hundred and forty years.

For their protection as human-beings as well as our own, "if you are here, you must be legal; otherwise you must not be here. Those who bring you here illegally and harbor you and employ you are breaking the law." But that's not what the policy makers want: they want slav... ahem, "guest workers."

The biggest problem with conservative talk radio is that it encourages idiots who don't know what they're talking about to express their "opinions" anyway, and as we all know, opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one. Many of the posters here are ample proof of that.

Where I live, a woman who was to have been deported 10 years ago recently lost her 4 year old son to murder. Even though she was to have been tossed ten years ago, immigration agreed to let her leave the country to bury her son in her homeland and then RETURN to the United States.

I have no problem if you are here legally to work. I understand that many illegals work as hard or hard when they are here, and many of them pay taxes. But the fact remains that people who are here LEGALLY have trouble getting the social services they need.

Of course, some Republicans support amnesty because this is a huge cheap labor pool that won't complain too strenuously.

Oh, gee, I thought it was all the Democrats fault Bush's bills don't get passed.

Some people "study" too much, and obviously get paid far too much money to do it.

"Freedom of speech" never de-railed any public policy that was actually worth its salt to begin with. But "freedom of speech" DOES have a remarkable ability to slice through layers of bulls*it in very short order.

When in our forefather's generation "huddled masses yearning to breathe free" came to our shores, they all knew they would land on Ellis Island. And they all knew that if they didn't meet the immigration requirements they would be deported without having once set foot upon the shores of the Promised Land. But they also knew that if they DID pass muster, it would BE "the Promised Land."

What do we offer our neighbors from the Country to the South? Only the opportunity to remain "huddled masses," working as slaves (oh, let's call them what they ARE...) in our artichoke fields, never to improve their lot.

Is -this- the best that America can offer to the world ... today?

I wanted to work with the poor..the working people who were having a hard time paying for health care...but what I got was working for ILLEGALS. The poor Americans? Oh no....you work as a waitress, and need our help? Forget it. We tell you we can't take you because you make a couple bucks too much. I'm dead serious. I got fooled into thinking that I could help those in my country who needed a little help. What I got instead was slaving over a bunch of spanish-speaking illegals...who don't report income, and who EXPECT the best for free. You know what? I'll shut up, but I'm quitting this job and going to work for a hospital who takes only INSURANCE..because I can't help my fellow citizens. It's impossible. Thanks, and i'll shut up about it.

Rwanda Tribunal Finds Media Executives Guilty of Genocide

In a landmark verdict, the war crimes tribunal for Rwanda has convicted three media executives of genocide for inciting people to take part in the wave of killing that swept across Rwanda in 1994. The defendants were found guilty for their use of a popular radio station and a newspaper to inflame hatred against the country"s Tutsi minority and to direct and encourage the campaign of slaughter.

Around 800,000 people " primarily Tutsis, along with some moderate Hutus who defended them " were killed during a few months in Rwanda in 1994. During the genocide, RTLM frequently broadcast statements inciting people to kill Tutsis " at one point telling its listeners, "We must finish with them, exterminate them, sweep them from the whole country¦" The station also alerted its listeners about locations where Tutsis were taking refuge, and incited them to pursue named individuals. In the words of Philip Gourevitch, author of the book "We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families," the station"s message "was unambiguous and was acted on."

I have been working in landscaping for 32 years. At first I worked with mostly " white guys"...then gradually it became all hispanic. What I have learned: The immigrants were harder working, more honest, modest, and much more reliable than most of the white fellas I worked with...As a woman in the field, I got greater respect from the hispanic co-workers than the other guys.

And remember this.... 7.55 % of their wages PLUS a matched amount from the employer goes into the social security fund every week.

Illegal or legal. The US gov't takes in billions and billions of SS funds from these hard working people and their employers... and the illegals will not be collecting any of it. Where in the hell has all that money gone?

If SS is going bankrupt...it's not because of the illegals....
Perhaps our fed gov't steals... oops... I mean borrows it....

A question for all you anti "amnesty" people. What is the solution you propose? It's easy to be "anti". Give me a solution. What to do with the many millions who are here already here working and raising their children?

'Immigration reform' is a euphemism for 'we'll leave the gate unlocked for ya', and nothing less. For the last 25 years or so, there's been what sure looks like deliberate negligence practiced at both our borders, long, long lists of companies busted/being busted for hiring people using fake ID, rolling drug labs, counterfeiting, gangs, you name it, the common denominator has been flaky border policy, and even flakier enforcement of that policy.

We used to have a huge migrant population from Italy and Ireland. What happened? Ireland and Italy became decent places to live. Mexico is a beautiful country with warm and pleasant people. The rich few take everything and make the situation in that country intolerable for the majority. Same for many of the countries that the illegal (and legal) immigrants come from. But don't worry, once Bush and his pals have finished turning the USA into a third world country by transferring all the wealth and power to the Financial Aristocracy, nobody will WANT to come here. It will be as big a hole as thier own countries already are. Problem solved. Heck of a job George.
