Wal-Mart Stores Inc. quietly stopped selling two brands of dog treats in July, after customers voiced concerns that the Chinese products may have caused their pets to fall ill, but no recall has been announced, a company spokeswoman confirmed.

The world's largest retailer started pulling Chicken Jerky Strips from Import-Pingyang Pet Product Co. and Chicken Jerky from Shanghai Bestro Trading on July 26, spokeswoman Deisha Galberth said late Monday.

Wal-Mart also placed a computerized block on all cash registers to prevent workers from selling the products, Galberth said.

Folks, don't buy dog or cat treats ANYWHERE. Read the ingredients - they are nothing but chemicals and crap. Your pets don't need them, and these toxic "treats" compromise their health.

Instead spend your money on quality food for your animal companions.

If you have a dog, give it steamed green beans for a treat. a lot healthier and cheaper than expensive doggie snacks.

My dog eats all the green beans out of my garden. He also loves the canned(not Sams brand)

Indeed The China Toxic Bomb

Here is our solution. If it takes two or three days to find a sprinkler head or tool or something not made in China. Fine with us.

We've decided to go OUT OF OUR WAY to not buy any Chinese products period until things change.

We know it's not possible to be 100% China free completely but it's possible to send a STRONG MESSAGE. NO BUY UNTIL YOU CLEAN UP UR' ACT.

Whats going on with China? I had the luxury this summer to spend sitting in summer classes at a very famous university. The classes where filled with students predominately from China to my surprise.

The thing that surprised me the most is that the students have a very deep distain toward america. Most of the issues in the classroom ended up being discussions on how China is superior to the U.S. . The resentment toward america made me wonder why are you attending university here if you have no love for this country? Then this weekend I
spent in line waiting to test drive the new Smart cars. A gentleman from China proceeded to argue with the
other people in line that China had better technology than the USA and their car companies are superior . I chimed in and said didn't the US invent the automobile as we know it? The man stormed off and told all of us in line to F*** ourselves. The massive recalls of products made in China to me is becoming a warning sign to something bigger we just don't realize. Maybe hate toward america ?

Well...since American political and business leaders allow the US to be dominated by the Chinese, what are Chinese supposed to do - respect us??

My wife and I have been calling Walmart, ChinaMart for the past couple of years. When we looked, EVERYTHING they have in the store is made in China. We stopped shopping there and would never buy my dog anything from ChinaMart either.

Someone needs to start a website that list American made products from A-Z. It would also give any entrepenuer an idea for a company to start up if they don't see the product listed.

I went to Wal-mart last week and everything I purchased there I could also have purchased at Target, K-Mart, CVS, etc, etc., brand for brand.

The only difference is that Wal-Mart sold it for less. If saving money is anti-American then every one of you should be purchasing the most expensive products you can buy just to make sure you're not being anti-American.

Are you saying that poorer people do not have an inalienable right to safe food, and products? That the chance of saving $.67, on a product sold in the USA brings with it an acceptable risk of permanent harm to a person’s family. I am elderly so I was not raised that the poor did not warrant a safe food, or product supply.

We can't boycott all Chinese imports because they now make too much of the things we need right now. We also can't expect Washington to do much about this BUSHIT!!, but we can punish China by voting with our dollars.

We can boycott China's biggest partner, Wal*Mart and We should. Some people think they can't or simply won't but if enough people do, it will send a strong message that we demand better of our suppliers.

Wal-Mart is a business and will do whatever it takes to make a profit. They used China but now that millions of products are being removed from the shelves, I'm sure the higher ups are looking at other sources to fill those shelfs. If a U.S. company can fill their needs, they will go with them. If a Mexican company can, or any other country that meets Wal-Marts needs, they will go with them. Wouldn't you?

We all know that to buy Chinese, you lower your standards for the price. But in the long run, your product wears out, breaks, or is faulty like car tools, you spend more for a "Made in the USA" product. I look for that too but like you said, "they now make too much of the things we need right now." I wrote about this same thing and someone countered that the mouse, keyboard, etc... was probably made in China or had a part of it made there.

We must eventually rid ourselves of the Mid-East oil and the Chinese. I have also called for a new Manhattan Project where the brains in Los Alamos can make a fuel, other than ethanol, or a battery that will free us from the oil blackmailing Middle East.

Stopping Wal-Mart with the goal of closing down the company? IMPOSSIBLE COMRADE! The Almighty Buck rules. THOSE CAPITALIST PIGS!

Exposing Comm., you must have Wal-Mart mixed-up with someone that gives a shit. They don't care how many pets die and won't move to slave labor that pays more like in Mexico unless really necessary - and only if people started dying like flies AND it could defintively be traced back to Wal-mart. Until then, more happy hunting.

Maybe if enough people hit Wally World with enough lawsuits they MIGHT start to pay attention, probably not, but it's worth the attempt.

I RARELY shop at Wally's although it's pretty damned hard to shop ANYWHERE that isn't carrying MADE IN CHINA-BEWARE! labels.(okay I made up the Beware part, but it pretty much is true)

And now we find out about clothes.

I cannot help but wonder if corporations WILL EVER act responsibility towards human beings instead of towards the bottom line first, second and always.

Probably never.

The LOVE of money is indeed the root of all evil.

And American corporations are in love with money ubel alles.

They need to get hit hard with lawsuits every single time and it needs to be class action law suits. Those might make lawyers richer than their clients but ya know what?

They usually get tens of millions if not hundreds of millions. You can be as rich as you want to but after a while it starts to hurt losing all that money and becomes cheaper to either be responsible or move jobs back where there is less chance of Americans doing a bad job.

Sic 'em.

Totally agree. I have written on this China subject and the immigration issue for over three years now and someone must be reading my post. I guess they're a fan. The onslaught has begun!

Move all Chinese factories back to our hemisphere. Give us back our jobs and move factories to Mexico/Latin America. IF THEY HAVE A JOB THERE, MAYBE THEY WON'T COME HERE!

Something's happening with the China issue that is being overlooked. TAIWAN! Taiwan should and must, if they ever were, DECLARE INDEPENDENCE BEFORE THE OLYMPICS! Would China risk a boycott and the loss of billions in showcasing their country and system? What about the hundreds of thousands of Chinese who were uprooted from their homes to build the sites, apartments, and office buildings? They are already mad and would be madder if they were uprooted for an Olympics that was canceled.

Let's help our own hemisphere. The "Three Amigos" met and that must be their goal. To hell with the Middle East and trying to moderize barbarians!

I know Mexicans can make my Nike's just as good or better than the Chinese. ALSO, ISN'T IT CHEAPER TO SHIP GOODS ACROSS THE RIO GRANDE THAN IT IS TO SHIP ACROSS THE PACIFIC?

"And American corporations are in love with money ubel allies." Listen corporations: THIS WILL SAVE YOU MONEY! MOVE OUT OF CHINA NOW!

I think they do the same with drugs. I use Ranitidine HCL (Originally Zantac) for acid refux. I always buy the Walmart brand name either "equate" or "Members Mark" depending on whether or not I am at Walmart or Sam's Club. I had complained to one of their pharmaists that for some reason the product didn't seem to be working any more. They claimed they hadn't gotten any complaints from anyone else. About a month later all the Walmart label Rantidine disappeared off the shelves and has just shown back up after an absence of over two months. The stores claim to know nothing about a problem. It was funny because even the labels disappeared off the shelves which wouldn't have happened if it was just a stock out.

What do you all mean? WalMart has the consumers best interest in mind. They even offer their employees discounts. No benefits but you can save when you purchase that Carrot Top DVD. This country would shut down without WalMart. And affordable health insurance is overrated as is vacation time so backoff!

LOL...good one...

What makes me laugh how every ChinaMart Employee I have spoken with, thinks that Wallymart is the best Company ever.

Which leads me to believe they are good at brainwashing...lol

1) if walmart knew at the end of july about these products why didn't they put a notice up in thier store for returning customers to beware? it's been at least 3 weeks since they pulled the stuff. how long do lab results take?

2)stoptheplanet: i live on disability. my income is limited and i have to be VERY careful how i spend my food dollars. i guess i'm one of those sickening customers that so offends you. i'd rather not shop there but as a matter of necessity i do it. i don't buy all my food there. i check the labels for products made in china. i call the 800 numbers on the pkg. and inquire about the place of manufacture and country of origin of the ingredients. i do this with ALL the food i buy, not just wally world. i wish i could afford to shop at Whole Foods or some such high quality place. but many of us in the US can't afford that. please consider that when you look down your nose at those of us who do the best we can to get by in life.

You know what? I can find alternatives that are comparable in price. And if you didn't shop there there would be more options available in your neighborhood. I don't fault you for shopping there if it is truly the only option. In my area there are plenty of farmers markets and smaller retailers whose prices are within a few cents of what Wal Mart charges.
