Dems Blast Bush's 'Irresponsible' Vietnam Comparisons

The Hill:

Democrats Wednesday strongly rejected President Bush's comparison of the Vietnam War to the conflict in Iraq, saying that drawing parallels is inaccurate and irresponsible.

Bush, in a speech to the annual convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, used the example of the Vietnam War to show the possible consequences of withdrawing troops from Iraq. The president said that millions of people "paid the price" when the U.S. left Vietnam.

George the Third Speaks
Part Two

But wouldn't you know it, just two decades later, this same freedom fighter had become America's Enemy Number One, whose little bands of rebels were going to bring down western civilization.

Our solution? We kept bombing them (and their neighbors) and killing them at such an alarming rate - the falisfied numbers coming from the Pentagon were amazing - until that little band grew so large and strong it drove the greatest army in the history of humanity right out of their country. Mr. Nixon had to cut and run!

My, doesn't THAT sound familiar? I could swear I was seeing exactly the same thing happening now.

But no, I must be wrong, because ... how could I hope to see things more clearly than these ignorant fools we have placed at the helm of our wayward and sinking ship?

So now, once again, this great "Stupor Power" of ours finds itself on the brink of ... oh no! ... ADMITTING IT'S MISTAKES!

Can we handle it? No, not unless we can find someone else to blame, and who better than those evil voters "on the other side of the aisle".

And so what does our genius tell us? He actually stands up there and says that by leaving Iraq we will cause a bloodbath.

Well, I just can't believe it. I cannot accept it. Since well over half a million have already been slaughtered and who knows how many have been maimed for life or driven to starvation, I just have to say that, as far as I can tell, Bush and Cheney have been bathing in red water for over four years.

And if that doesn't make you sick in the gut and the heart, then you are just as guilty as they.

But George the Third has spoken! I guess we can see the value of "truth"!

George the Third Speaks
Part One

Here in the land of morons, where the stupidest men ever to hold the reigns of government have finally begun to wonder why the facts don't line up for them anymore, the rest of us are at last awakening from the nightmare that began with the snuffing of the Florida recount in 2000.

As the man who should have then become president is telling the world that Nature is about to spit us out as a species, grand geniuses like "Mr George Bush" tells the nation that was dumb enough to elect him instead that they have their history wrong.

It was the fault of liberals that we lost Vietnam! My goodness, I had never realized that.

Can you believe it? People who like to support the poor and misfortunate, who like to tax the fat and wealthy to provide social services, do actual work on bread lines and in soup kitchens (where today they meet and feed the wives and children of the soldiers dying for nothing in Iraq) ... these turn out to be the evil demons behind the collapse of our nation's militarized policies!

Wow!

And here all this time I thought it was the mistaken agendas of sick leaders such as John Mitchell (who just like Bush "lacked adequate intelligence") and General Westmoreland, who annihilated forests and people with napalm while protecting rubber plantations.

As the horrific but legitimate Second World War (humanity is never satisfied with only one of anything, as we can see every day at the lunch counters), "we" - being the French and English and "Americans" - were fighting alongside Ho Chi Minh to get the Japanese out of Southeast Asia.

HA HA HA HA HA HA

Q Thank you, Mr. President. Mr. President, April is turning into the deadliest month in Iraq since the fall of Baghdad, and some people are comparing Iraq to Vietnam and talking about a quagmire. Polls show that support for your policy is declining and that fewer than half Americans now support it. What does that say to you and how do you answer the Vietnam comparison?

THE PRESIDENT: I think the analogy is false. I also happen to think that analogy sends the wrong message to our troops, and sends the wrong message to the enemy. Look, this is hard work. It's hard to advance freedom in a country that has been strangled by tyranny. And, yet, we must stay the course, because the end result is in our nation's interest.

Gee, ya think for a second that multiple analogies can be drawn from a single source and that some might be right and some wrong? Get your W hating liberal head out of your ass.
04:30 PM on 08/23/2007
Gee - Ya think Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly, etc. would? Probably label it something...clip-clop...no, that's not it...drip-drop...hmmm
03:46 PM on 08/23/2007
Yeah, we Dimocrats are the only ones allowed to draw analogies between Iraq and Nam. We be milkin' that un fo years.

Sorry dude, didn't mean to get into your territory.

He's using bogus history (that he is inventing) to justify an indefinite stay in Iraq and the region.

Unfortunately, with the exception of Kucinich, the democratic nominees also envisage an indefinite stay.
They use phrases like "responsible" withdrawal.

Bush = the democratic "frontrunners".

It should be noted that Korea is going to pull it's troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year, and to reduce it's 3200 man force in Iraq by 1000.

Duhbya's wingnuts still haven't figured out that our powerful military, in many respects the best in the world, is not designed to fight insurgents. Our armed forces were designed to fight other big military machines and to kill lots of people indiscriminately. They were militarily defeated in Vietnam, and they're getting beaten up in Iraq. They only way they can "win" against a guerilla-style enemy is to annihilate the entire population. Sort of like swatting flies with a flamethrower.

Duhbya is hauling out his new Vietnam argument because the Iraq quagmire is a stinking albatross around his neck, and everyone can smell it. So, he's just spraying it down with some cheap perfume in a pathetic attempt to save some face and limp through to the next stolen election.

Iraq is like Vietnam? If you mean GW did not serve his country, well I'd have to say he's spot on. But this "killing fields" and "re-education camps" and "millions killed" after we left, he's got the wrong country. That was Cambodia, not Vietnam.

Impeachement-off-the-Table Pelosi and the other degenerate cowards in the Democratic party - like the degenerate Susan Davis (D-CA) should keep their mouths shut.

Democrats have done NOTHING to put in end to the bloodbath in Iraq. Scumbag Democrats like Susan Davis voted to give Bush his money to keep the Halliburton profits flowing and the soldiers dying.

"Mearsureable but uneven progress" in Iraq.

Democrats are liars and cowards. They have failed the Nation.

In September Democrats will give Bush more money and the War will continue.

Military Coup Planned for Iraq?

A rumor is circulating among well-connected and formerly high-level Iraqi bureaucrats in exile in places like Damascus that a military coup is being prepared for Iraq. I received the following from a reliable, knowledgeable contact. There is no certitude that this plan can or will be implemented. That it is being discussed at high levels seems highly likely.

Bush is irresponsible? Ooooooh, that's harsh.I'll go the politically correct, harmless Dem's one better. Bush is a fucking criminal who lied in order to start this invasion. He should be impeached, along with the blowhard VP. Republicans impeached Clinton and his 8 years of unprecedent peace and prosperity. Now it is time to turn the tables.

The ONLY similarities the Iraq and Vietnam Wars have in common -

• They went on far too long.
• They were started under false pretense.
• They were fought to secure natural resources - oil.
• They poisoned the environment in the countries where they were fought. (Agent Orange in Vietnam and DU in Iraq.)
• They enriched the MIC.
• They killed many innocent people who wanted no part in the wars.

These new Bush speech writers make the Office of the President look like babbling, lying fools and do a definite disservice to our country.

What could Bush possibly know about Vietnam? He spent his time flying missions over Houston and...he got lost somewhere in Alabama working for some politician. What the commander in name only needs is some real face-time on patrol in Iraq. Then it might be possible for the cowardly, draft-dodging son of a bitch to get a clue about the death and destruction he has brought upon his own troops and others. 'Nuff said.

Dems are wrong on this one. There is a clear parallel between Vietnam and Iraq. In both cases, the blunder has been starting an unwinable "war".

Also - both wars were started with a deliberate lie.

Yawn. A huge f'kn yawn. Every damn day these eunuchs, these Democrats, voice their outrage over something the Asshole-In-Chief has done or said. And what, pray, has been the net result of all this fuminating?...Wait, what's that sound I hear?...Crickets? Junior's toying with these fools. He knows exactly what can be expected of the Democrats. These gutless wonders. A House full of castrati. O, how I despise them all.

Yup. At this point, I believe that neither Democrats nor Republicans really give much of a shit about all of the people - people better than most of them - being killed every day. All they care about is how they can turn it to their own political advantage. They all need to be chucked out and given jobs directing traffic in Baghdad for a week or so.
