Nasty E-mails Fly As Senate Earmark Battle Gets Personal

The Hill:

A battle between the offices of Sens. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) over a controversial earmark intensified earlier this month, displaying how debates on Capitol Hill sometimes can turn personal.

The senators had been at odds over the matter for much of the summer, but it would reach a new level when John Hart, communications director for Coburn, forwarded a news article detailing his boss's request for an investigation of a defense contractor.

This defense contractor has been very generous to congress and the delegations from Nebraska and Hawaii in particular. And Oklahoma and Nebraska have been fueding for years. But this does smell, check it out.

I would submit that the headline is misleading. Nasty emails fly" would have us believe that they're flying back and forth. What this story says is that Coburn's people called another Senator, "fucker" and "assface." How about, "Republican Senator staff loses it and embarrases Coburn."

If this type of stuff is happening in a work place, THE STAFF DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH PRIORITY-SET WORK TO DO.

Earmark, another name for Pork. Yeah keep wasting and spending, and running up the debt. The people don't care. Hell you guys are American royalty, and you can do what you want. Bush has proved that many times over.

You don't have to follow the law, the Constitution is a goddamn piece of paper and the people can be shook down as often as necessary. There's always a way to make em pay.
