GOP Rep Davis: "I Assume The White House Will Tweak It [The Petraeus Report]"

Think Progress:

Last week, the media reported -- and the White House confirmed -- that the so-called "Petraeus report," which will document the conditions on the ground in Iraq, will not be authored by Gen. David Petraeus, but rather by the White House.

Yesterday, Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA) "bravely agreed to attend a meeting of the antiwar Americans Against Escalation in Iraq." Davis was asked by Iraq war veteran John Bruhns whether reports of the "Petraeus report" being "filtered through the White House" were true.

Petraeus statement

The Maliki government hasn't a prayer of suceeding.

TWEAKED statement

Keep the brave Democratic Maliki government in our prayers, as they are performing really really really well.

(it's a subtle change)

could this actually turn out to be a real moment of truth?

assuming that patraeus still has a conscience and at least a passing respect for the truth, will he bend over and allow himself to be tweaked by bush?

The White House (Cheney) wrote this report back in March.
Trusting a know liar ( Neo-Cons...Bush etc.) is truly insane.
NEVER trust ANY politician...EVER.
It is every American's duty to watch the government and stop the abuse that always happens.

this was a done deal from the start.

general is a yes man how do you think he got to be general?

look at powell become a traitor to be a yes man for bush and cheney.

they have been conditioned to say yes sir even if it means being a traitor to their country.

death and blood means nothing to these people it is about their careers.

at least we have a mercenary voluntree army.

'I just would assume that if it goes through the White House, they will take it and do what they, you know — I’m sure they will probably tweak it.'- Rep. Tom Davis (R-VA)

Gonna tweak it, just a scosh. Gonna need some
exclamation marks. We call 'em 'bangs'! Maybe
some adverbs. Words endin' in 'ly'. Change
'bodacious' to 'bodaciously'. Definitely more
'bangs' though. Some 'bodacious bangs' 'd be
most helpful. Over towards Iran maybe.

The single most successful strategy this administration has come up with, "tweak it."
04:01 PM on 08/24/2007
"Tweak" - "Pervert" - whatever - it's all the same.

What a Joke.

The Report will be as useless as the "Iraq Study Group."

Troops will continue to die, and the War Profitiers will continue to loot the United States.

Americans already know what is going on in Iraq -Dick Cheney is making Millions !!!

Joke, joke, joke.

You know--I'm just a regular person--and I used to think 'impeachment' for this president was a bit too 'radical'. But now I don't. I think we now are not only advised to impeach this crew, but are REQUIRED to. I want my democracy back. I want my habeas corpus back. I want my 4th Amendment rights back. And I want to have confidence in my elections again. I do NOT want to feel like I am being excluded from my own government. And do NOT want to feel that every move I make is going to be 'countered' by the republicans to shut me out of it. We'd better start calling people on the carpet legally--while we still have the chance to do so.

Too late. Our rights have been canceled in the name of protecting us.

BTW, anyone know the date and time for the oven march? I do not want to be late for that.

Why is he assuming when it has already been leaked that the White House wrote it?
01:20 PM on 08/24/2007
Not tweak but fabricate.

Wow, I guess with Mr. Rove leaving, all of Bush's smart (maybe crafty is a better word) have left him. I mean, let's assume that the report does, as well as can be expected, gives an accurate portrayal of the conditions on the ground. No one's going to believe it, because the White House wrote it. Its like they don't even care about being percieved as honest anymore. And that's a scary thought. When politicians stop caring about even the semblance of truthfullness, they have stopped caring about what the citizens think about them. When that is true, it is a sign that they no longer believe their power is derived from the people...Oh, but that shoudn't be surprising since Pres. Bush declared himself King already anyway. "God chose me to be President." I haven't seen a more blatant statement of Divine Right.

"Tweak"
As in, translated to Bushspeak, which means it will say what they want it to say.
Why do they bother?
