Romney's New Health Plan More 'Conservative' Than 'Universal' One He Promoted As Governor

New York Times:

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who has said that his positions on some issues have "evolved" or changed in recent years, is set to discuss the details of a his health care plan in Florida today, which also seems to be something of an evolution from proposals he has supported in the past.

The Times's Michael Luo reports that Mr. Romney's plan "departs significantly from the universal health care measure that he helped forge as governor of Massachusetts, reflecting the conservative audience he must now appeal to in order to win the Republican presidential nomination."

One of the ingenious ways the American system
operates is through the mechanism of 'insurance',
which is *in principle* an effective way to share risk.
It's also a way for great wealth & power to be accumulated,
and over the course of a couple hundred years, that's exactly
what happened.

When the Insurance Industry puts much more
effort into protecting their profits & denying
benefits then in providing benefits to those
in need, then the mechanism is broken.

Maybe some 'bright young fellow' will appear
some day who is able to fix this problem, but
til then we're just going to have to deal with
the rich & powerful getting more so. Mitt does
not seem to be that fellow.

I'm trying to remember, ...I think being a flip flopper is full permission for radical republicans to smear and degrade you..(crickets)...

See, with Kerry there was more to the story that they insisted on ignoring. There is no back story here..he is just a plain, blatant flip flopper. Now, I have no problem with a thoughtful person changing their mind but I am certain that is not the case here. This is a guy that truly will do or say anything.
