Burglars Break Into Dodd's Connecticut Office

HARTFORD, Aug. 26 (AP) -- Burglars broke into Senator Christopher J. Dodd's office here late Saturday, taking undisclosed items and leaving evidence at the scene, the police said.

Investigators declined to say what was stolen or what was left behind at the office, which is on Lewis Street.

Sgt. Reggie Allen told WFSB-TV that the police want to immediately process "properties that were left on the scene."

Jamie Radice, a spokeswoman for Mr. Dodd, confirmed the break-in, but said she was not sure what was taken.

The police said they believe that the suspects jumped from the roof of a building next door onto the fire escape of the building that houses Mr. Dodd's office and broke in through a second-story window. The burglary occurred between 10 and 11 p.m., they said.

Mr. Dodd, who has served in Congress for more than 30 years, is seeking the 2008 Democratic nomination for president.

Then we have the 5 Democrat punks in Milwaukee, who were convicted in January 2005 of slashing the tires of Republican get-out-the-vote vans. Even more interesting about that story is one of the perpetrators was the son of Democrat Representative Gwen Moore, another the son of former Democrat Milwaukee Mayor Marvin Pratt, who was also the chairman of the Kerry/Edwards campaign for that area. All 5 were found to have been paid by some combination of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, America Coming Together (ACT), and Gwen Moore for Congress.

Not all offices belonged to Democrats. Rove's office was found to have a listening bug the night before a gubernatorial debate in Texas in 1986. The following day he held a press conference blaming the Democratic candidate. Although, nothing ever came of it, Rove was at the top of the suspect list.

Dodd is a smart man and he doesn't need to engage is a silly ploy for attention. While political motivations for the break-in are possible, why not consider the most likely scenario; common thievery? Not everything is political. On second thought, you better look behind your couch. Dodd might be hiding there.
