U.S. News And World Report:

The buzz among top Bushies is that beleaguered Attorney General Alberto Gonzales finally plans to depart and will be replaced by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. Why Chertoff? Officials say he's got fans on Capitol Hill, is untouched by the Justice prosecutor scandal, and has more experience than Gonzales did, having served as a federal judge and assistant attorney general.

If Bush appoints Chertoff this week, he doesn't have to go through Congressional confirmation, thanks to our dear Patriot Act.
Coincidental timing? I think not.

Can't Congress reconvene to stop the shrub from slipping Skeletor in without a confirmation? How can this happen without someone stepping in? Someone enlighten me.

Oh - we shouldn't be so hard on Skeletor, I am sure he will do a "heck of a job".

Chertoff will be not better and will have to resign so Bush can PARDON HIM before Bush leaves office too.

Chertoff? Well, that would certainly fit in with the Bush doctrine of cronyism within a close circle, wouldn't it?

This man does not look healthy. Someone with INTEGRITY is needed now, to clean up the mess left by Gonzo. Chertoff has not done a good job in his present position. Waste and fraud in NOLA. On second thoughts, he is perfect, a true Bushie. Incompetant, and toes the line. He really should resign, and take care of his health.

Yes. He should.

Lets begin calling for his resignation post haste!

The wolf leaves the hen house only to be replaced with a madman wielding a chainsaw!!!

Good riddance! Yet we should hold off on our glee. After all, we thought it was not possible to get anyone worse than Ashcroft and even had hope that a Hispanic would stand up and show the World that, even when appointed by crooks, our people have incredible honor.

We were rewarded with incompetence worse than that in Iraq, serving the Master like we hadn’t seen since the days of slavery, and we were left wishing we could have someone with the integrity of Ashcroft. So we should hold off on our partying until we see if the next crook is better than Gonzo.

I'm not going to hold off celebrating simply because even in my wildest imaginings I can't conceive of anybody worse than Gonzo.

Chertoff needs a T-Cell recount

Remember New Orleans!

That would have been a good idea quite a while back. Oh, you're not talking about the officially forgotten status of the city now after nothing much has been done, but of then lack of leadership on Katrina to begin with. Well, that, too.

CHERTOFF IN NEW ORLEANS SPEECH SAID "WE WILL NOT BE ENFORCING LAWS ON EMPLOYERS FOR HIRING ILLEGAL ALIENS". Right then and there he should have been hauled before Congress for REFUSING TO ENFORCE LAWS PASSED BY CONGRESS.
