Iran was actually headed in a more a more western friendly and secular direction untill Bush and his neoCON boneheads antagonized the Iranian people so much that the moderates joined the radicals.
Calling someone an "Axis Of Evil" whatever that is is not productive.
Bush has met many times with Armageddon seeking televangelist and crackpot John Hagee.( spelling?)
This group of religious extremists believes that the USA must start a nuclear holocost in the MId-east in order to bring about the second comming of christ.
Iran needs to enrich uranium to a much higher purity before they can even consider building a Nuclear weapon...they are not even close.
If you push and threaten any living thing it will become hostile and try to defend itself.
Also as those of us who actually read things know the President of Iran is more of a figurehead and the Clerics are in charge.
The Iranian government is a nasty bunch of people but no government is all that great and doesn't always reflect the people.
I would hope that people would be smart this time around and realize that Bush and the neoCONS are not to be trusted , especially in their call for war. There is NO immediate nuclear danger from Iran it is decades away and hopefully we can help the moderates in Iran to change their government as we should have done in Iraq .
The religious extremists in the US are a greater danger to American freedom and the Constitution than any outside religious extremists.

There he goes again.

How does attacking people who haven't attacked us make us safe? How can we expect others to disarm if we attack them?

The Republicans like the threat of "Holocaust".
They really, really enjoy it. Well, I don't and I don't think too many of my fellow Americans do either and that is why the Repubs are toast in the next election. Enough is enough.

From your lips to the voters ears.

Reading today's report listing the deaths from Bush's War of Choice for Oil, is the figure of an estimated
70,000+ dead Iraqi children.

Will this information bring Americans to their knees?

Vick's crimes against dogs did. And should have.

Do we view dead children as just a part of Bush's War of Choice? Less worthy of outrage than dead innocent dogs?

I don't think so but getting the media to tell Americans the truth about this evil administration is always too little and too late.

Enough is enough!

The 1953 CIA coup in Iran was named “Operation Ajax†and was engineered by a CIA agent named Kermit Roosevelt, the grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt. Capitalizing on the oil-nationalization showdown between Iran and Great Britain, which had thrown Iran into chaos and crisis, Kermit Roosevelt skillfully used a combination of bribery of Iranian military officials and CIA-engendered street protests to pull off the coup.
the CIA achieved its goal, enabling the shah a subsequent 25-year, U.S.-supported dictatorship, which included one of the world’s most terrifying and torturous secret police, the Savak.
For years, the U.S. government, including the CIA, kept what it had done in Iran secret from the American people and the world, although the Iranian people long suspected CIA involvement. U.S. officials, not surprisingly, considered the operation one of their greatest foreign-policy successes ... until, that is, the enormous convulsion that rocked Iranian society with the violent ouster of the shah and the installation of a virulently anti-American Islamic regime in 1979.
It is impossible to overstate the magnitude of anger and hatred that the Iranian people had for the U.S. government in 1979, not only because their world-famous democratically elected prime minister had been ousted by the CIA but also for having had to live for the following 25 years under a brutal and torturous dictatorship, a U.S.-government-supported dictatorship that also offended many Iranians with its policies of Westernization. In fact, the reason that the Iranian students took control of the U.S. embassy after the violent ouster of the shah in 1979 was their genuine fear that the U.S. government would repeat what it had done in 1953.
Imagine, for example, that it turned out that a foreign regime had secretly and surreptitiously ousted President Kennedy from office because of his refusal to do the bidding of that foreign regime. What would have been the response of the American people toward that government?

Okay, even Pat Buchanan thinks invading Iran is a bad idea:

Quick discussion of how George Bush can become dictator. This is an unlikely scenario however short and sweet it would be for the "Imperial Presidency".

This administration is sounding the drums of war with Iran, albeit softly. Bush's puppeteer's main obstacle to dictatorship lay in The Congress and The Judiciary. Republicans all but rolled over in Congress for him. However, the Judiciary was not so kind. Roberts and Alito are supposed to address this issue.

Now, Congress is in the hands of the other right-wing of The One Party, The Democrats. While they are cooperating with Bush, they are mightily disappointed in him and his follies. Bush has exposed the puppeteers somewhat.

Back to Iran. Nuclear weapons are the issue. Imagaine a small (10kt or so) nuclear device being detonated in Washington D.C. while Congress is in session. What would the effects be?

President Bush declares martial law. Congress would need to be reconstituted at his leisure. Iran would be the fall guy. Add to this our military power in Iraq, however degraded, and "Remember Washington" makes for a rallying cry. However, who really would benefit from this unlikely scenario? Not Iran. Follow the money that leads to who really is in charge of this Administration.

Let's see Bush and his party have brought us the following:
1. Iraq
2. Gitmo
3. Abu Ghraib
4. Voter fraud & messing around with the totals
5. Katrina
6. Abramoff
7. Outing a CIA agent
8. No protection for our troops
9. BROWNIE
10.Harriet Meyers
11.GONZO and the Justice Dept fiasco
12.Our collapsing infrastructure
13.NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND
14.DICK "VADAR" CHENEY
15.KARL, TURDBLOSSOM ROVE
16.The largest deficit in history
17.Foley
18.Cunningham
19.47 million Americans without Health insurance
20.Gutted any department that had oversight of our National Parks, our product safety inspectors, border guards, port protection.
And now they want to go to IRAN, so since our military is spent, exhausted, ruined by attrition, I suggest every single good card carrying Republican and any Individual or Corporation donating to any Republican candidate that still supports staying in Iraq and invading Iran, you go and fight your WAR.
We will elect someone with a brain and get back to rebuilding our country, our schools, our infrastructure, our job and manufacturing base and we will secure our borders. Have a great time, oh and all those weapons and flak vests you need, well there is a shortage of those so you will have to use garbage can lids and rocks, but it's o.k. because as Rummy said, "You go to War with the military you've got". Have a great time.

What an innovative argument for him to use for prolonging his excellent adventure in the middle east. The depth and complexity of intellect that his statements betray leaves me shocked and awed.

Wait! Wait! I thought Ahmedinajad was the "Hitler" clone? Oops. Ever notice that Bush is a German name? B-U-S-C-H. What did his grandfather do for The Nazi Party in Germany? Grand-daddy wanted to overthrow the government in 1933 (or so the rumours go). Correct me if I am wrong (warning-conspiracy heavy), but is not The Skull & Bones society an offshoot of a German secret society?

Now we are seeing the Busch family past come to light.

Dynasties think generations in advance. If they don't get it today, the rule is to lay the foundation for succession further on down the line.

Think of the Kings and Queens of old. They planned to maintain power in the hands of their families for generations. Human nature. We have always had "aristocracy" in one form or another. Nothing has changed in todays world. Humans are not enlightened past this stage, yet. You are delusional if you think so.

The "aristocracy" is like any aristocracy of old. New members join. Factional infighting. Old members "beheaded". Loose alliances really. There is no monolithic conspiracy. Only families with generational wealth and power cooperating and betraying each other.

He's been so busy running around wondering where they put the WMD, that he forgot where he put the button.
Fortunately for us.

Here we go again...Personally, I am more worried about the crap that China is sending us than a "Nuclear" Iran, but they have to keep up the charred until January, 2009 and these bastards will use every tool and trick in the book to do it. Where’s Emiliano Zapata when you need him?

Heil Bush!

He's never been wrong before, maybe we should listen to him.....
I think....
They want to invade Iran, institute a draft, marshall law and suspend the elections

"Mr Bush said: “Iran’s pursuit of technology that could lead to nuclear weapons threatens to put a region already known for instability and violence under the shadow of a nuclear holocaust"

So long as the idiot child remans in the White House the Middle East, indeed, the entire world, will remain under the shadow of potential nukuloor holocaust... bush, while his finger hovers above any weapon's trigger or launch button, is a threat to the entire world.

bush must go... got rope?

Does anyone even believe what this guy says anymore? Plus we don't even have enough troops in Iraq how are we going to get the troops needed to destroy Iran government?
