Sen. Larry Craig said that he "overreacted and made a poor decision" in pleading guilty to disorderly conduct after his June arrest following an incident in a Minneapolis airport bathroom.

In his first public statement on the arrest, the Idaho Republican said he did nothing 'inappropriate' and also said, "I am not gay."

Dude,... you were in an airport bathroom, playing footsie with the guy (undercover cop) in the next stall.

You are either gay,... or just damned strange.

I think that 'gay' sounds better than 'playing footsie with some stranger in an airport restroom'.

Embrace it, come on out of the ole' closet, and get on with your life post-politics.

No sympathy for this senator but what the hell were cops doing trolling for gays in public washrroms anyway? - should I suppose that all the serious crime in the area has been stopped and that the local cops have nothing better to do?

The cops were responding to complaints about men like Senator Craig at the airport bathroom.

Craig was the one that got caught...

I wonder how long he has been at it.

I don't think it is a great use of police manpower either cato.

Apparently they felt they had some good reason to be trolling for those seeking temporary 'male company' there though.

Also, apprarently they were correct about those sorts of casual 'shenanigans' going on there though.

And,... I gotta admit that I love to see hypocrites squirm. It is a personal failing of mine,... get too much pleasure out of it some days,...

As the reported "opening salvo" in this...um...dance in the bathroom, Craig PEEKED THROUGH THE CRACK IN THE DOOR of the stall next to his before he went in and started playing footsie. Yes, I can imaging that the airport DID receive several complaints.

They would have heard MY complaint over the jet engines: "HEY! WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING? DO YOU MIND? I NEED SOME PRIVACY HERE, FREAK!!!....etc."

Yich.

Was he really patrolling or using the facilities?

No, they were trying to catch pervs running loose in public restrooms. Maybe you would like someone like this idiot next to your child in a restroom. You fool

WISH YOU'D LEFT OUT THE "FOOTSIE" PART...

Gross! I mean, taking a crap in a men's room is enough of a downer by itself without some fascist asshole (excuse the pun)...no, I can't go on!

I suggest Craig's name be changed to Footsie when we refer to him.

Another Republican perv bites the dust. I've been telling you here at Huffpo for a couple years that these people have a very serious problem. With Republicans on the outs, maybe the corporate media will finally take note of it.

Just what is it with these Republicans and public toilets?

If they just liked sex it wouldn't be so bad - but they're such repressed hypocritical SOS's that they have to be perverted about it.

What is it about the GOP that drives the perverted behavior into such an overwhelming need? The idea that they're all sociopaths and psychopaths? And as such they need authority figures which makes them Repressed perverts? what?

To me. Let's insert that in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Psychiatric Disorders (or whatever it's called).

"I have done nothing wrong."

Then why plead guilty to a lousy misdemeanor? Do you have a martyr complex?

That old "Ye protesteth" thing just begs to be spoken.

Craig is/was a hypocrite, but side from the obvious, what about the issue of police entrapment? All this code business about tapping the right shoe; was that cop in the stall doing his business or just waiting to pounce on a fresh victim?

If you read the report Craig's foot ventured into the stall of the cop so I don't know that it would be entrapment...

The reporting officer said that Craig looked through the crack in the door to the stall for 2 Minutes; that the officer plainly saw his eyes gazing through the crack for two minutes. And this is on to of the hand grazing below the stall wall three times.
No entrapment here...

You don't know what you are talking about. Craig did a lot more than just tap his foot.

And he initiated the act, not the officer. Entrapment is when the police instill the commission of a crime where the defendant would not have otherwise been disposed to commit the criminal act.

For example, using the Craig incident, if the officer initiated contact and was doing the soliciting, then that would have been entrapment because Craig could argue that "Hey, the officer came on to me, I did not to him."

Buzz words like "entrapment" and playing the race card [Vick] are so overused and always in the wrong situations.

You can bet Craig ran the whole situation by his attorney, one of those confidential Sunday at midnight calls. I am sure the attorney told him to plead guilty because, among other things, there was no entrapment.

Heck, Craig as a lawmaker and one familiar with law, probably knew to look at the entrapment defense.

And most important of all, I have not heard Craig say he was entrapped. So if the horse does not mention the defense, neither should you.
