"I Am Not Gay, I Never Have Been Gay"

Sen. Larry Craig said that he "overreacted and made a poor decision" in pleading guilty to disorderly conduct after his June arrest following an incident in a Minneapolis airport bathroom.

In his first public statement on the arrest, the Idaho Republican said he did nothing 'inappropriate' and also said, "I am not gay."

He may very well not be gay. If he isn't, then he's definitely a sex addict. People may identify themselves as hetero but still have sex with other men. That must mean, he took his compulsive sex to such an intense level that everything else around him wasn't satisfying.

He's gotta be in a difficult situation. Nobody wants to have to admit they're a sex addict and their addiction manifested itself by having sex with other men. So it's quite possible that may be the case. Or then again, he might be gay!

I'll try to give you a serious answer to that one.

Contrary to what men may think, the biggest reason a woman marries is for security in her life. Men like these, who, when they were young, may have seemed a good "catch" because of their future prospects, are often charming, magnetic, and it is very difficult to brush off the attentions of such a man. They see a woman they want, and they choose her because they are attracted to her, they think she will make a good trophy, produce many beautiful children, any one of a number of things. The one thing they have in common is that they are both looking for something in their mates other than simply love for each other.

Over time, she becomes settled in her life, her material needs seemingly satisfied, and by all outward appearances, she has a very nice life. With men like these, she doesn't want for material comforts, and enjoys a certain amount of 'celebrity' status. She is the envy of her friends, and the public, who don't know what goes on in her private life.

Out of the spotlight, men like these are often emotionally abusive to their wives. The women are robbed of their self esteem, of thinking they can exist outside the marriage to Mr. Perfect. Fear takes over. The fear of losing the security they thought they had.

Ultimately, fear is the only emotion that will overrule love almost every time. It is destructive, a vampire upon the soul. When a person is consumed by fear, before they know it, what was their psyche is gone, replaced by a survival instinct driven entirely by their fear. They exist, they do not live.

The strongest prisons in the world are not made of steel and concrete.

They are built of the fear within our own minds, and that is where these women live, as does any abused spouse.
