Petraeus 'Softened' National Intel Estimate On Iraq

The NIE, requested by the White House Iraq coordinator, Lt. Gen. Douglas E. Lute, in preparation for the testimony, met with resistance from U.S. military officials in Baghdad, according to a senior U.S. military intelligence officer there. Presented with a draft of the conclusions, Petraeus succeeded in having the security judgments softened to reflect improvements in recent months, the official said.

Like nearly everyone Bush appoints, Patreus is just another flunky/yes-man whose sole priority is HIS career. It's the same personal/selfish ambition/leverage Bush has always used and the reason for the Bush/Rove/Scholtzman Republican loyalty oaths the DOJ under Gonzales required of new USA appointees. There is nothing more disgraceful than a man who wears a military uniform and betrays the best interests of the military for political purposes.

This whole Petraus blessing is coming to be something based on doctored reports, lies and misdirection. It would be wonderful if the Congress of the United States and the American public would just ignore this bullshit. Vote for no more war funding and get the troops home now. Peter Pace was the Suckup In Chief when he was head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Petreaus' marching orders are to support the status quo, no matter what happens on the ground.
