Breaking news on CNN:
An audio tape of Sen. Larry Craig being interviewed by police has the senator claiming an officer solicited him.
OMG - Rove has found a new job as advisor to Craig!
I don't have much respect for Republicans or cops but it sounds like entraptman to me. I don't know anything about this Senator and I couldn't understand the whole tape, but I am not sure about this case. Linda
Why did he perjure to the judge by pleading guilty then? Did he not think he could beat it? Did he think that the publicity caused even if he did beat it would be worse than pleading guilty then?
Pickle of a situation - NPI
SEE WHAT HAPPENS, LARRY? YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS? THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FUCK A STRANGER IN THE ASS. HERE'S WHAT HAPPENS, LARRY. HERE'S WHAT HAPPENS.
"I don't recall" How great is that? The new GOP mantra!
The most telling part of this recording comes at :56, when Craig says, unprompted, "I don't do those things." A shred of what he's compartmentalized shows through. The tragedy is that in 2007, with as many queer republicans as there are, is that it's still such a big a deal to come out and come clean, and treat people (including one's wife and one's self) with respect and dignity. It's embarrassing and painful, sure, but think of it as payment for all of the times he's gotten his gavel whacked in bathrooms over the years. Hubris!
I agree the unprompted "I don't do those things" statement seems like a subliminal admission of doing "those things"....
But we don't know what conversation the cop and Craig had before the tape was rolling.
I imagine the cop told Craig he was being arrested for wanting to do "those things" before the tape was rolling.
It's not like the tape was rolling from the time the cop made contact with Craig in the Bathroom. It sounds like the tape was made in an office after they left the bathroom.
Who the hell would pick up a piece of toilet paper from off the floor beside the toilet in a public restroom? Right there I says to myself what a friggin liar.
He loves trees so much that he's willing to use used toilet paper. In your face Sheryl Crow.

Linda,
The bathroom in question has a terrible reputation for this kind of activity and the cops decided to take action after several civilian complaints about the goings-on.
Craig picked the wrong guy - it's as simple as that. And given that there had been two separate allegations that Craig had solicited sex from men a full month before his arrest in the bathroom, AND the underage page scandal in 1982 ... I think the confusion as to who is telling the truth here should dissipate.
Yes! More pee pee doo doo stories! This is what America wants! This is what America needs! Gay senators in toilets! Inquiring minds want to know every detail!! Excuse me while I puke.
Well, I, for one, am surprised that Craig's defense wasn't: "...the undercover officer just didn't have a square... he didn't have a square to spare!"
Just resign already?
Please get out of the bathroom! We should be devoting the next political era to be talking about policy, not engaging in the same politics of distraction that the Republicans have used to destroy our society and our Constitutional government. All this stuff about embarrassing moments for hypocritical Republicans who once grandstanded about sexual morality is duly noted, but this is truly where we don't want to be.
This is exactly what put the Reich-Ving in power. Tittelating meaningless non-issues, villifying the opposition, gotcha politics.
What are you saying?
This is easily endable by the policeman's word of whether or not he had his pants down. A man in a stall without his pants down isn't there to do the appropriate business.
Just exactly how far would your foot have to be into the next stall to make contact with another person's? Sounds like a lot of work to me.
Maybe Craig was practicing his Ice hockey faceoff stance.
What's the deal with gays and mensrooms anyway???
Can't they meet people on buses, movies....cafes, schools, parks etc???
do these guys get a thrill or something....lurking around public restrooms?
sheesh
Excuse me Mr. expert on gays "Tear down this wall". Normal, well-adjusted gays do not look for sex in mens' room, buses, movies, etc. They get it the regular way after meeting people on dates, at the bar etc. Only perverts (heterosexuals included) get their jollies off in these locales). Quit trying to label and stereotype gay people.
I'm not commenting on gay people...i could care less about one's sex orientation.....am commenting on "illegal activity" of a gay on gay nature, which happens in public restrooms and it seems a a lot of it happens in rest rooms, and I'm wondering what the deal is
I think the "deal" with A MINORITY FACTION OF gays and men's rooms is...
...men's rooms are full of men, and gay men like other men.
"They" (meaning gay people) DO "meet people on buses, movies... cafes, schools, parks etc"
You should frame your questions a little more specifically, it will make you sound less homo-ignorant.
Tap-tap
In the Men's Room,
In the Men's Room,
Oh won't you 'come' along
And tap-tap in the Men's Room with me-e-e-.
