AFP:

A US Marine was ordered to execute a room full of terrified Iraqi women and children during an alleged massacre in Haditha that left 24 people dead, a military court heard Thursday.

The testimony came in the opening of a preliminary hearing for Marine Sergeant Frank Wuterich, who faces 17 counts of murder over the Haditha killings, the most serious war crimes allegations faced by US troops in Iraq.

Here is an outrage beyond words, and listen to the sandbox tit-for-tat going on here. Further, the 117 posts for this horrific act pales in comaparison to the thousands of Huffposters who submitted some of the most vitriolic, hate-filled emails I've ever read on a dog-fighting case. Now where are the demonstrators; the email blitzkrieg to senators, congressmen...?

The names of these mass murderers will be quickly relegated to the dust bin of our memories. Some of you have probably already forgotten the perps names. Meanwhile, Vick's deeds--uncomparable on the Morality-Heinous scale--will be forever seared in the minds of most Americans. This is yet another example of pathetically twisted values.

That's because Americans value dogs. But despite all the hot-air lies about bringing them democracy and freedom, Americans do not value Iraqis. Iraqis are treated as equivalent to the dirt beneath American boots.
That's what makes it so obvious that this invasion was always about something else entirely, something that cannot be named by the administration or the Republicans.

The Iraq War for Oil does this -

Enjoy.

Thank you!

That video, as sad as it is, was very well done!

As I have asked before:

I wonder just how many other 'Haditha type events' have really happened in OUR name? And just how many more 'Abir-like' girls are out there? How many sad stories will NEVER be told? And just what is the REAL price to control Iraqi oil?

the unspeakable carnage that america has subjected on the innocent people of iraq will go down in history as the most evil display of aggression the world has ever seen. a nation, armed to the tooth, has illegally invaded a country, made defenceless by the disbanding of its army, and has slaughtered and raped the iraq women, children, babies, and other innocents.
america, under bush, has been reduced to a barbarian empire, america answers to no one and its leader is unaccountable for his travesties on humanity.
fuck america, fuck bush and who support him. america's day of reckoning will come, you can count on it, the salughter of women and babies condones retailiation by the iraq's.

youre an idiot, almost as much of an idiot as the crazy cat lady Delores. The most evil display of aggression the world has ever seen? How old are you 6? Since you apparently have absolutely no clue about history. But thats ok, not many else on here do either. But you did get one thing correct, America answers to no one.(that happens when the rest of the world needs their asses wiped continually).

Since you seem to be such a history buff, you must know that every empire eventually falls. And anyone would be foolish to deny that the same will not happen here. Someday the rest of the planet will grow some balls and declare: Enough is enough. And that day may not be as distant as one would like to think.

"You heard me, Leatherneck!
Drag that kid out from under her bed
and shoot her in the face!
THAT'S an ORDER!"

"Yes, sir."

Sorry. I don't think so.

KEEP VOTING REPUKLICANT FOR THE DEATH OF DEMOCRACY, COMPASSION AND CHRISTIANITY.

War is atrocity.

Why is it, every generation suddenly discovers, with shock, that bad things happen? And by all sides.

Read about other reprehensible events in Vietnam. Lt. Calley was but a scapegoat and the orders came from higher up. There were other instances than never even became sound bites.

Learn about the American soldiers in the Pacific in WW2 who dug up Japanese corpses to gather more 'souvenirs'.

Or go back to the Phillipine insurrection and the account of Gen. Funston and his men creeping up on a camp of men, women and children, just before dawn. And as day broke, they shot and kept on shooting until none of the 600 lived.

Delve a bit further back to Andersonville ...

And now, take a street kid was in a gang, busted for some low-level crime, give him an out from prison, a moral waiver, and shove an M-16 in his hands. Ask yourself the heading of his moral compass ...

Well, fine. Bad things happen.
That condones anything.
Thanks for the clarity.

As a combat veteran who experienced hundreds of dead and wounded enemy soldiers and guerilla fighters and thousands of civilian detainees, I can attest to the fact that the people I served with would never permit those "bad things" to happen. Duty and honor first.

Yes all wars are Hell.

That's why no war should be rushed into, and EVERY effort should be made to avoid it.

That was NOT the case here. This invasion was planned years BEFORE Bush came into power.

And what is the saddest thing of all, is that we all have to sit here and helplessly watch this very dark segment of US history unfold in horror - until the oil runs out, or until humanity runs out - whichever happens first.

OK, so this may be true but they were Muslim for God sake! It isn't like they were Evangelicals or anything.
09:02 AM on 08/31/2007
What is your point? It is okay to kill muslim women and children? Well, if this satire then forgive me if I missed the punch line!
09:36 AM on 08/31/2007
what!????????? They were human beings . . . that is the point . . . they were innocent human beings . . . and remember what happened at Nurenburg (sp) . . .just following orders is no excuse . . . for cold-blooded murder
06:43 AM on 08/31/2007
Why hasn't the United Nations conducted an investigation into war crimes by the Bush administration and sent the case to the International Court of Justice?
09:35 AM on 08/31/2007
I suspect because traditionally the US has dominated the UN. I sometimes think Europe is still too soft on the US .. . sure the French and Germans stood up against the invasion of Iraq . . .but there is still some sort of postworld war complacency about the US that has to end . . . America is a terrorist state . . .and the whole world has to stand up against it . . .
10:21 AM on 08/31/2007
German business is heavily involved in making money in Iraq. Just for starters, Siemens, through its American office, received a quarter billion dollar contract shortly after the invasion. Trade with Iran doubled since then and oil is imported from there. http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/HE27Ak01.html

"Germany, currently opposed to war, is shown to be Iraq's biggest arms-trading partner with 80 companies selling weapons technology, including Siemens. It sold medical machines with dual-purpose parts used to detonate nuclear bombs. The German government reportedly 'actively encouraged' weapons co-operation and assistance was allegedly given to Iraq in developing poison gas used against Kurds."

The UN headquarters should remove itself from the US.
06:16 AM on 08/31/2007
sick disgusting and I believe it . . . blackwater I suspect is playing both sides . . . they are hired killers . . . and we know what they do . . . when is Congress going to get some balls and start impeachment and get the troops out . . .
06:47 AM on 08/31/2007
When, and if, the fiasco in Iraq is over, there must be investigations into Blackwater and its role in the occupation.

If a Republican is elected, there will be no investigations. If Hillary is elected, there will be no investigation. However, if any other Democrat is elected, I hope an investigation is begun.
06:49 AM on 08/31/2007
The administration must have considered this.

What can they do?
05:59 AM on 08/31/2007
It is the duty of a Military personnel to refuse to obey an unlawful order. There is no excuse for a Military person to slaughter unarmed men, women &/or children. The fact that this soldier has the audacity to forward that excuse is disgraceful.

curious -- his name in German means "like a man enraged" (wut = rage, anger, as in Wotan ie., Odin; wuter = angry man; Wuterich = like an angry man)
