DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- A minister married two men outside his Iowa home Friday morning, sealing the state's first legal same-sex wedding. Less than 24 hours earlier, a judge had thrown out Iowa's ban on gay marriage.

The Rev. Mark Stringer declared college students Sean Fritz and Tim McQuillan legally wed.

Hello have these men followed the "proper procedure"?

First you register republican, run for office on a homophobic platform, vote against any legestlation that might grant equal rights and protection under the law for homosexuals and engage in sexual acts with: under age congressional pages, professional male escorts that have access to meth or random men in public bathrooms.

Way to go Iowa!
Good luck to the groom and groom!

Way to go, Iowa!
One state at a time, till the Supreme Court HAS to take notice and do the right thing.

That's how the last irrational prohibition was removed, that's probably how this one will play out too.

I'm proud to be a citizen of a country that has had legal marriage for all for a couple of years and I'm proud to be a living in a state that has recognized and eliminated the mistake of anti-gay marriage laws.

The critics will howl, but they too benefit from the protection of the US Constitution.

Wonder how they did this. We have a 3 day waiting period and the ruling to strike the ban just came down yesterday....

They should be banned until there is an ELECTION by the people of Iowa to whether they want same- sex marriages or not. If we live in a democracy, then the PEOPLE should decide. Fair enough?

We do NOT live in democracy per se. It is a constitutional republic that among other things is supposed to protect minorities from the tyranny of majorities.
