Within hours, the letters to the editor started coming in. "Condoleezza Rice serves an administration that has trashed the basic values of academia: reason, science, expertise, and honesty. Stanford should not welcome her back," wrote Don Ornstein, identified by the newspaper as an emeritus professor of mathematics in a letter published May 31.

Online comments on the newspaper's Web site were even harsher, a veritable stream of vitriol. One of the milder posts came from Jon Wu, who did not give an affiliation: "Please go away, Rice. We don't want someone who is responsible for the slaughter of an entire nation teaching at our school."

Rice is simply another Bush Sycophant. She really has no legacy she should be "proud" of. Life is catching up to the lying Bush Administration and she is just one of the enablers of the worst president in the history of America.

If you count a stain as supporting the worst government in the history of our country as a stain.

No I'd say throw the dress away. It is irepairable, as are you.

Go write a book about lying liars and the lies they tell.

Oops, Al Franken already has that title taken care of about you and your idiot boss..

A stain??? Ya think??? Naaah.

Working for Bush is the real stain. Being a major part of an administration that brought the country down won't look too good. Iraq is just the icing on the cake. The cherry on top.

The real stain will be what you helped do to this country. Because you were so greedy you couldn't tell the truth to the American people and helped to kill 4000 American soldiers and over 600,000 Iraqi civilians.

I hereby propose the following petition:

should the united states and / or israel attack Iran unprovoked (even false flag black op false provocation notwithstanding)

as is widely reported in the general press that such is imminent...

i.e.

Pentagon 'three-day blitz' plan for Iran Sunday Times:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article2369001.ece

The undersigned petition Russia, China, Pakistan and any and all civilized Nation State to provide nuclear weapons to Iran so they may in return annihilate the americans in retaliation, just as the first paragraph of said article states that uSSa is planing to do to Iran.

Further, should such an unprovoked infamy occur, I call upon all the people of the world to immediately move upon any and all US or israel citizen of their acquaintance to effect immediate public lynching of these persons, whether these persons are in fact responsible for the barbarism perpetrated by their government or not.

That is not the point. The point is to impress upon the cretinous US populace, that they better manage to restrain their out of control government by any and all means, lest they wish themselves and their countrymen to suffer irreparable consequences.

Finally, let it be clear to any political entity anywhere that, should such perfidy initiated by the aforementioned entities occur, any government or nation which in any way cooperates, aids and abets, or who fails to sever diplomatic relations with such renegade nations, any such entity renders itself thus immediately illegitimate in the eyes of the world at large, not to mention a collaborator in criminal behavior. As such, any government not opposing such infamy by the strongest possible means thus becomes fair game for overthrow and their political leaders and bureaucrats candidate for public execution.

You're on the side of Liberty or on the side of infamy. There is no middle ground.

Please reproduce and circulate widely.

People have a right to be angry at the behavior of Condalezza Rice. Not matter how exemplary her academic achievements, she proved herself to be clearly incompetant as a National Security Advisor, having presided over the greatest assault on our national security during her tenure. In testimony before congress she has shown herself to be a lier.
Having been elevated to a position clearly beyond her capacity she has achieved no diplomatic success in any area of foreign policy.

Stanford may indeed bring her back as provost or in some other capacity. That will be determined by the trustees of the university who are for the most part, I am certain, good
well-healed Republicans.

No matter what master she serves from here on out her "legacy" and the stain it carries will follow her to her grave.

The stain started with a hijacked presidency...and hasn't gotten any better. It has been one LONG joke with a lot of death and destruction EXCEPT...for the rich.

Funny that Rice is worried that Iraq will be a stain on her legacy when it she and members of the Bush Administration lying to us about Iraq that are stains on America. Her comments reflect the arrogant attitude of the Bush Administration - when Bush heard about Katrina, he went on vacation, Rice went shopping for shoes. When Bush heard the U.S. was under attack, he continued to read a book to elementary kids. Rice saying she considers Iraq a "stain on her legacy" is like Jack the Ripper saying he considers murder a stain on his legacy. Rice telling us that we would be a mushroom cloud if we didn't attack Iraq that resulted in the deaths of 3000 of our troops is the stain she left for us all.

Lotta hate on this thread. Howcum? I am not a fan of Dr. Rice -- it seems clear that she was way over her head as NSA, and is doing only a bit better at State. She is, at the core, an extremely smart academic, but not a leader, or even a particularly competent manager. This does not, by itself, make her a bad (or good) person, but it does make her ill-suited for the jobs she has held under W. Her error, in my view, was in allowing her ambition to blind her to the fact that she was not well-suited to the job. The price she pays for that is that she will be remembered as a failure.

I know that this price pales by comparison with the price paid by thousands of US military, and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, for her "failure" to restrain the Administration from its disastrous course. But seriously, folks, does anyone think that there was *any* way of dissuading W from this adventure? Rice's error was in accepting a situation where she could not possibly be effective. Had she declined the opportunity, she would have saved her own reputation, but this would not have affected events in Iraq in any way at all.

Many high-level political appointees have faced the question: if policy is not going the way I want, should I stay or should I go? Most decide to stay, and so did she. Not an excuse: many who decide to stay make the wrong decision, and I think she did too. But so did Colin Powell, all the various second-level appointees in the State Department for the last seven years, George Tenet, etc. Thing is, even if ALL these folks had resigned on principle, it wouldn’t have had an ounce of impact on events in Iraq.

She has made big mistakes, she will be remembered as a failure, and personally I hope Stanford does not offer her a position (although Hoover probably will). But jeez, could you lighten up on the kneepad comments?

I honestly can't remember even one thing that Condi did that made me think she had a skill or talent for her position.Being a smart black woman means nothing if you have no scruples or a sense of history.Come to think of it I can't think of one person in this administration that has any independent thought and no Republicans that have raised their voice in disagreement until it was time to distance themselves to run for another term. This is a cabal of criminals and ignoramuses the likes of which this nation has never seen and hopefully, will never experience again. As far as Condi teaching at Stanford I really don't know if she can be intellectually honest and teach the truths of this failed administration,as a good amount of blame can be heaped on her own role in this disaster.
