New York Times:

In response to Mr. Draper's observance that Mr. Bush had nobody's "shoulder to cry on," the president said: "Of course I do, I've got God's shoulder to cry on, and I cry a lot." In what Mr. Draper interpreted as a reference to war casualties, Mr. Bush added, "I'll bet I've shed more tears than you can count as president."

Yet Mr. Bush said his certainty that Iraq would turn around for the better was not for show. "You can't fake it," he told Mr. Draper in December.

I was so appalled at this article, that it was hard to read.

"In response to Mr. Draper’s observance that Mr. Bush had nobody’s “shoulder to cry on,” the president said:

“Of course I do, I’ve got God’s shoulder to cry on, and I cry a lot.”

In what Mr. Draper interpreted as a reference to war casualties, Mr. Bush added,

“I’ll bet I’ve shed more tears than you can count as president"

You know you just can't make this stuff up!!!!

He should have to copy out the Constitution in its' entirety by hand several times a week and not get paid unless it's 100% accurate...

I never realized God has an actual, physical shoulder to cry on. What color is it? Does it have any freckles? When you cry on it, does God pat you on the head and say, "don't worry, George, your policies are absolutely 100% correct and anyone who disagrees with that is going straight to hell."? It must be so soothing to have God validate your political position. Just you and God against the world.

OMG, I just saw this one on youtube.
NOT for the squeamish. But how I wish we could force those "masters of War" to stay locked in a room and watch this for as long as it took to break them.
AGAIN... not for the squeamish, very graphic content.

There are many more of these montages to this music, this was the first one I saw.
There were none of the original version with original singer. but lots of others from him through the years.
This is such a powerful song. Still gets me.

This mans invoking of God at every turn is nauseating. bush has turned a deaf ear over and over again to those with the expertise. I’m sick and tired of all these phony worshipers coming out of the woodwork when the self serving world they’ve tried to build for themselves starts crumbling around them. Is the latest shtick a little humility? These crooks are constantly playing the American people, and 25% are constantly falling for it. I have a suggestion for the piece of shit we call president. Get off your crying ass and fix the mess you’ve made of our country. You can start with Iraq and the mess Katrina left behind.

GOD'S MESSAGE TO GEORGE:

"THAT WAS NOT MY SHOULDER YOU WERE CRYING ON.

DO YOU GET THE PICTURE NOW, IDIOT!!

I DON'T ACCEPT WARMONGERS AS BELIEVERS BUT

THERE IS ANOTHER WHO DOES.

HIS KNOWN NAME DOES NOT BEGIN WITH THE LETTERS,

"C" OR "R" BUT DOES BEGIN WITH THE LETTER, "S!"

GUESS, WHO, GEORGIE!" JC

Buttprints in the Sand

One night I had a wondrous dream.
One set of footprints there was seen,
the footprints of my precious Lord,
but mine were not along the shore.

But then some stranger prints appeared
and I asked the Lord, "What have we here?
Those prints are large and round and neat,
but, Lord, they are too large for feet."

"My child," he said in sober tones,
"For miles I carried you alone.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
but you refused and made me wait."

"You disobeyed, you would not grow.
The walk of faith you would not know.
So I got tired, I got fed up,
and there I dropped you on your butt."

"Because in life there comes a time
when one must fight and one must climb,
when one must rise and take a stand
or leave their butt prints in the sand."

-Buttprints in the Sand(revised for the wiccan/pagan version)

" I have God's shoulder to cry on". I seriously doubt it. GWB turned away from God a long time ago. You cannot continue to break HIS Commandments without remorse and expect God's forgiveness.

George haven't you noticed since you told everyone that God told to start the War in Iraq that you can do nothing right. Haven't you noticed all the destruction you have brought to your followers in the Red States with all the hurricanes and other violent weather.

Freedoms Institute is nothing more than a venue for the psychopath to hear himself talk and reveal in his delusional thoughts of importance.

GWB should face the facts that reservations have already been made for him in Hell. Saddaam and his sons are waiting for him and Cheney.

You all know that the United States of America that anyone over 30-35 grew up no longer exists, right? The very fact that this man and his evil puppetmaster are still in office shows that the citizens of this country no longer have anywhere to turn or anyone to turn to.

The Democrats? Now there's a laugh. There's not a pinch of monkeyshit's worth of difference between a rich, elite Republican Aristocrat and a rich, elite, Democratic Aristocrat and anybody who thinks we, as commoners, would have gotten any better from Kerry or will get any better from Clinton or Edwards than we're getting from Bush need look no farther that Reid and Pelosi and their refusal to consider to even consider what needs to be done to restore this country, at least in part, to what it was supposed to be according to the constitution.

Instead, all they've done is aid and abet Bush/Cheney in every criminal action they've undertaken and refuse to butt heads on the issues that actually matter.

Until we, the almighty Frickiung American PEEPUL, grow the huevos to vote every sonofabitch in Washington, regardless of political or ideological label, out and send them packing to their fricking compounds and enclaves with a size 15 bootprint across their rubbery fat asses, this is what we're going to get and probably what we fricking deserve.

Thanks for the rant space.

nofsdad :thanks for the rant space"

You are more than welcome.
Being well over 35 (almost 59) I totally get what you are saying. This is not the America I was born into, rebelled criticized, and protested against, mourned with, and loved for almost 60 years. Where is my country?

I am sure that all generations say these things and I can't begin to know the depth of despair that our ancestors felt when things would change for them...(and they often felt it was for the worse.) I can only know my own despair that this is where we are, that the youth are not rising up... which is and always has been their job... in the sense that they bring the reinvigorated energy, they kick out the corrupt and what isn't working properly for the continuation of Democracy and protection of the Constitution.
Yes it is for every American to do, and all of us that care are doing what we can. But without the drive and energy, and joy, and full commitment untainted with inevitable cynicism, without that rush of discovery that the young have in finding purpose that begins with the first understanding of what is at stake if we are all apathetic, and without that unbounded belief in their own immortality that empowers youth into doing what is right with an almost complete trust in success just because it is right... without all of that there is no hope really. They are the future. It is their time. Where are they?

ACK... don't smash me, I didn't even know I felt this way till i started writing it. I know there are many, many young people out there working, volunteering, doing what they can.

And yet, coming from the Viet Nam, Civil Rights, and Women's Rights era it is difficult to understand the seeming silence of the young now.
Is it because they are apathetic? jades? they see no point?

An incident just came to me about all of this.
A few years ago I took a class in Race, Class and Gender issues in a seminary in Maine. There was a woman about 30 years old there. She grew up in Maine, worked on her families potato farm, had a degree in something... I don't remember what, and was going to Seminary to become a minister.
She was incensed at the idea of the white male dominant culture with power blah blah blah.
She would fight it constantly, the understanding of the sociological underpinnings of where we are now. She was stronger and tougher than her brothers. She was quite judgmental about pretty woman using their beauty to move around in the world, not understanding the coping mechanism, or the actual hinderance (sp) it can be.
Each and every class she would stubbornly argue that this was insane, why were we ganging up on white men (we weren't, we were investigating the past ) Finally after a few weeks into the semester she started shouting out that she didn't know what the hell anyone was talking about anyway... she never felt inferior to any man, she never felt she couldn't move ahead because men were in her way... on and on... and finally an older woman in her 60's maybe said "of course you don't feel that way, there were others who came before who felt that way for you. Thank them."
It was interesting.

I don't know why that came to mind... I guess in wondering where the youth are... they don't feel the same urgency we did, for whatever reason... gameboy? I just don't know.

OH MY GOD... I sound like an old woman... how the fuck did that happen?
YIPES!

The lying SoB told us that God told him to make war on Iraq. Did God misdirect him?
I also wonder if God told him to institute his culture of torture?
I wonder if God told him to lie to us about WMDs in Iraq? Did God then tell him to lie about spreading democracy?
I wonder if God read that PNAC document "Rebuilding America's Defenses" which gives the true reasons for our invasion of Iraq. It says clearly that it was oil and geography.
Somebody wanted to control the Middle East and oil was necessary for any nation with world domination in mind.
I suppose that God knew about those things as well as I did. I wonder why he (or those Neocon bastards who wrote the thing and control little Puppet Bush) never told him the truth. If Bush were not so inordinately stupid, I'd wonder why he didn't know as much as many of us ordinary folk.
I wonder if Bush thinks he is foolikng anyone.
And I wonder if he has any idea how any good God would look at him. A Christian God would swend him straight to Hell where he belongs (together with all his warmonging, torture loving, lying Neocon advisors.)
I wonder too if God told Bush to further the robbery of the masses for the benefit of a few greedy Wealthy members of his Base.
I wonder if he knows how much like Satan his God seems. Bush consulted his Higher Father before he told us all those lies. Is his Higher Father really the Father of Lies?
God is Love.
I wonder if little doofus George knows how much Hate he has created.
