Washington Post:

He also makes new disclosures about the behind-the-scenes infighting at the White House that helped prompt the change from Card to Bolten in the spring of 2006. By that point, he reports, some close to the president had concluded that "the White House management structure had collapsed," with senior aides Rove and Dan Bartlett "constantly at war."

He quotes Gillespie as telling one Republican while running interference for Alito's Supreme Court nomination: "I'm going crazy over here. I feel like a shuttle diplomat, going from office to office. No one will talk to each other."

I want investigations of this clusterf*ck by the next President. NONE of these clowns gets to run off to their book deal and speaking circuit.

This was a criminal administration from the start, and if they're allowed to just retire, it will be a very disturbing sign indeed.

why would this be news to any observer of the administrations motivations over its tenure of office? they've eshewed any kind of cooperation across the aisle when offered post 9/11, going as far as demonizing them with tactics reminicent of the McCarthy hearings in the 50's.
when even those within their inner circle have lost the stomach to visit further abuses upun the republic and have left the administration to speak out, even they have been derided as suddenly, deluded, inept, befuddled, addled, or somehow in need of psychiatric care or worse.
as marlin perkins of the old mutual of omaha's "wild kingdom" used to point out "some animals eat their own young".
animals indeed.
darwinism in action folks.

Mutual of Omaha has made a comeback on the Animal Planet channel and would serve as a good format to show any documentary footage of the Bush regime in action.

For a group that spews it's love of all things Christian, they have done more to prove Darwin's theory than any other group since the Neanderthals right down to his suggestion that man is the only animal that kills for pleasure. Darwin must be chuckling in his grave.

Good. I'd like to think that SOMEONE in there is morally conflicted.

Bush is in Iraq getting love from the troops and thrilling them with a visit from the Commander in Chief. A lot of them will tell their grandchildren with pride that they met the president at a time when it really meant something.

I'll bet that leaves a sour taste in your mouths, doesn't?

Good.

You'll have that taste from here on out and it will be with you for another eight more years after Bush is gone.

You're a delusional twit, Betty Jo.

Bush is the most unpopular president in history---because he is the worst president in history.

Keep making your witless predictions, though.

You're at least good for a laugh from time to time.

All lies leave a sour taste in my mouth, but they fall out of yours like honey.

After 6 years, you are still a rube.

Yes, I can imagine it hasn't been very pleasant for you to spend six years on the bottom, looking up.

Try to get comfortable, you've got another nine years to go.

i'd say.. those few who are actually SANE in the administration have finally gotten the courage to battle against INSANE dick cheney-

they are fighting his pushing for another war- with iran now-

but bush still hasn't learned that cheney is insane- so these few people are fighting very hard to save our nation against this madness

I don't see much fighting...all the "nay-sayers", if you believe that, have left and Condi is working on 3 books to save her sorry ass legacy.

The only thing that MIGHT save us from Shooter and an Iran attack is that the Dems pass a resolution making Chimp get their approval before attacking Iran.

Basra is by no means secure. The Shiites are fighting each other now. They ran about a million pilgrims out of a Shiite holy city the other day because the Mahdis were fighting the SCIRI or DAWA Shiites. We don't just have a Sunni/Shia war in Iraq. It's a multi-war - many sides fighting for dominance. You could ever see the Kurds fight each other - they have before.

Several years ago, when my husband lost his job and his health insurance and needed help with the cost of his drugs for Parkinson's disease, I called the office of my Congressman (a Republican) and the office of my state (Indiana) representative (a Democrat) to see if either office could tell where I might find such help. Both offices sent me materials promptly, but the differences between the two packets were striking. What the Democrat's office sent was both helpful advice and complete information enabling me to follow through on that advice. What the Republican's office sent was discontinuous parts of what the Democrat's office had sent accompanied by no advice on how to make use of the bits and pieces. That experience confirmed for me what sixty-plus years of living in this state and this country have made me strongly suspect: By and large Republicans are stupider than most Democrats. I already knew that by and large Republicans are far more authoritarian and far less compassionate than most Democrats. But not until we had six-plus years of Bush/Cheney et al. did I realize that by and large the core constituency of this current batch of so-called Republicans is so emotionally, intellectually, and ethically confused by their own melange of truly primitive free-market ideology (bottom line trumps all) and truly primitive fundamentalist faith that they fail to recognize how cruel and bloodthirsty and counterproductive all their policies are. Small wonder they can't do anything right. They're not in touch with reality, and they have failed to observe that the means determine the ends, that the ends can never justify unconscionable means. "There is nothing more terrible than ignorance in action."

I thionk you're only partially correct about the Republicans.

They are well-aware of how cruel and bloodthirsty and counter-productive their policies are.

They don't give a shit.

Their philosophy is very simple---Republicans say "I've got mine, so fuck you."

They don't care about anyone but themselves.
They are supremely selfish and uncaring.

It's what makes them Republicans.

My in-laws are, unfortunately, Republicans. My father-in-law pretends to be helpful to other people in his retirement, but he has confessed to me that he only does it to get something in return and I know he only helps single women to try to get laid.

My mother-in-law never was a generous person and told me way back when I first joined the family 26 years ago - while she was only in her forties - that she was done being nice to others and was through volunteering. I was so flabbergasted, I considered not marrying their son for fear he would be this way. He's not, thank God.

My parents, life-long Democrats, are in their 70s. They taught me that we were put here to lovingly care for the earth and one another. They are still very active in the community and church and volunteer regularly.

The last thing I need is behind the scenes info on a nightmare that I've been living for the past 6 years, I already know way more than I want to know about this sorry excuse of a man and his elitist pompous family - I just want to wake up to a new day and move on.

This is typical of an administration that lacks order and leadership.
Dick wants to call the shots but Rice is set aside. Bush is just becoming irrelevant due to his lack of knowledge and capacity.

There issue is the Dick has a deep ulterior motive to overrule Rice. Iran is the objective and there are two approaches to it.

Dick, he wants to attack Iran yesterday.
Rice, let us sit at the table and negotiate.
Bush, in the limbo.
