Book: Laura Bush Considers Rove A "Necessary Evil"

In a new book on the Bush presidency, entitled "Dead Certain," former Texas Monthly senior editor Robert Draper reveals that First Lady Laura Bush refers to her husband's longtime political adviser, Karl Rove, as "Pigpen," the perpetually dirty character from Charles Schulz' "Peanuts" comic strip.

On the Today Show this morning, host Meredith Veira asked Draper about the First Lady's feelings towards Rove. "Well, I think she recognizes that Karl Rove was a necessary evil," said Draper. He also said she felt Rove often took more credit than he deserves:

She also felt that Rove was a bit self-aggrandizing, and she would say at times, "let's see what boy genius has to say about this." She didn't like the fact that, in her view, Rove would sometimes be stealing credit for administration policy that, in fact, emanated from her husband.

Evil is always and ever has been "discretionary." Karl Rove's use in the Bush Camp was unabashedly discretionary. It was their conscious decision to use him; indeed, they knew exactly what he was "good" for, and that is why he was used. The World knows that Karl Rove was a master of Criminal Politics, and, they knew George W. Bush had NO chance of success if they relied on a Clean Election.

Evil. Speaking of Evil, have you seen "Zeitgeist?" Google it and watch the "Official" version. I just did and it has made me a better citizen because now I know what WE need to work on to get our Country back. It isn't every day you get to see who America's demons are.

In the past, I've dealt with Religious Right Republicans (I used to be in Amway)--they always said that the women were there to support their husbands and many of them told to simply shut up. I've lost many "liberal-minded" Amway associates, including my own business to these tactics of the Christian Right.

What laura is saying is evil people are a fixture of her and George's White House. They couldn't have accomplished half of what they did without them.
