Ellen DeGeneres Alludes To Craig In Gay Rights Discussion With Clinton

Senator Hillary Clinton appeared on the season premiere of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Tuesday. During a discussion about civil unions, Ellen remarked, "I'm gay...I'm happy, and I'm gay. There are some people who are gay and really not happy, as we know...and won't even admit it."

What if Ellen were fired for being gay? Would she still be so happy?

PLEASE STOP HILLARY BASHING!!!!I've got to get in this. We've got to wise up and stop cannibalizing ourselves by acting as Repug shills. Stop defining her by her marriage Face it, she's a smart ambitious woman and some people have this subconscious fear UNTIL THEY GIVE HER A CHANCE. The same irrational sort of thing was going on with Gore when he ran, and look what happened!!!! I know I represent many regulars who read this blog who are disturbed and dismayed by the endless, shameless, ultimately perverse bashing.

"PLEASE STOP HILLARY BASHING!!!!"

Has she done ANYTHING to deserve it? The answer is, of course, a resounding NO. True progressives CANNOT support Hillary Clinton, yet another corporate puppet that will make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

I don't care much for Hillary, but the feined surprise "WHAT!!??" was pretty funny. She has a sense of humor. The best one I heard lately was when she went to visit Chesea and reminded her that the family will be under close scrutiny for the next year, and they need to make sure there is not any dirt that can be slung. She asked Chelsea "You're not having sex with any married men or anything like that, are you?"

Chelsea thought a moment and replied

"Well, not according to Dad."

It seems National Health Care, an issue Ms. Clinton seems to have abandoned, which is a life or death issue for millions, seems to get about 2% of the Press coverage, and Gay Issues, which no doubt are important to the Gay community, but not exactly in the same league with people getting turned away from a Hospital, get about 40 %.
Perhaps I'm missing something. I thought it was 2007 not 1970.
No offense to Ms.Clinton & Ms. Degeneres, but unless you live in Texas , Gay rights is a bit passe'.

The fact that a person can be accused of being a commie dyke and a Bush-lite war machine puppet in the same thread tells me people have prejudices that have nothing to do with the individual.

The real point about the Bushies is that they're Bolshevik capitalists. Bolshevik, remember, referred to the Leninist minority who took over the Duma, the parliament, by machine-gunning all the rest, and taking power as the Minority. Same with the Bushies.

No such thing as a Bolshevik capitalist. A dictatorship backed by the corporate world is called FASCISM.

I'm happy she's happy and happy she's happily gay.

Can she now shut-up about it?

She seems to constantly need to justify it, and really, who cares?

While being vocal at times, especially when she came out, obviously, on her sitcom, Ellen rarely now talks about it, especially on her show. She only brings it up when totally contextually appropriate, as in this case.

When she came out, it was important to talk about it as it was the dawn of something important. Now it's as equally important that she is seen as a multi-faceted complex (and talented) person, not just as a lesbian. The fact that some people can't see past the point that she is lesbian demonstrates why this point is important. People need to see that orientation is only a part of who all people, gay or straight or otherwise, are.

On the political perspective, I'd vote for an openly gay individual any day of the week before I'd vote for a closet gay. Something about having integrity when one has their finger on the button...

Ellen, you forgot: rich.

You people are so stupid/gullible. You know they go over what they are going to say before they go on stage. Nothing you see here or on Letterman was natural.

All the jokes written by staffer and comedians.

Don't lose sight of the woman who voted for the IRaq War, will continue to take money from lobbyists, has no major accomplishments in six years of being in the Senate, and yet states she is most qualified. I ask waht makes her qualified?

Her most important vote (Iraq) she voted the wrong way. Nough Said!!!

Ellen should have asked the corporate bitch why she doesn't support gay marriage...

Brilliant, your soon to be nominee continues to pander, pander, pander to a segment of the democratic party which many of you HuffPosters have hypocritically derided in the recent days (see threads on the Craig fiasco).

liberal pandering and hypocrisy are really ramping up here as 2007 winds down. I for one can't wait for '08.

5 of the last 7 were republicans.... soon to be 6 of the last 8.

Wow...any mention of Hillary brings out the hateful nuts of all sizes and shapes. I'm not prepared for 8 more years of this...I already have "hateful nut"-fatigue!

Hillary is a hand-puppet of the war party. She interacted with those sleazy bastards for 16 years and decided to submit to their sweet promises. She forgot, though, about the fate of the obedient Gore in 2000.

BTW, politically, everything she does around abortion and gay rights works against her. But who cares..

I thought Hillary was going to come out of the closet.
