MacWorld:

Steve Jobs took the stage at San Francisco's Moscone West expo center promptly at 10:00 AM this morning, to thunderous applause from the crowd.

"Today we're here to talk about music," Jobs said.

"We've distributed 600 million copies of iTunes so far, and customers hve bought and downloaded over 3 billion songs from iTunes. iTunes is the number one online music store in every single one of the 22 countries it operates in," he explained. "We started with just 200,000 songs and we have over 6 million songs in every single one of those stores."

Apple Fan Boys are such bunch of Geeks. I love that they waited in line to pay $600 for something that is now $400. They will still come back for more... Steve Jobs is a marketing genius. The new ipods aren't amazing but I'd like to get that ipod touch model. The holiday shopping season will be here before you know it!

The price always comes down eventually. People chose to wait in line and give up $600 bucks so they could be the 'First'. So stop moaning and groaning when you knew this was bound to happen.

I don't know if you can buy it in the USA because they seem to be behind in cellphone tech. (always have been) but the Nokia N95 has much more than the Iphone with a 5Megapixel camera

Check it out

My Bose headphones really help a lot.

I use the Jabra 620 Bluetooth stereo headphones with my cellphone (Samsung) and also my high end home system.

Fantastic sound.

oh, and Ipod doesn't even have A2DP which is necessary to stream stereo with bluetooth.

Again, Apple has nice asthetics but Samsung, Nokia and others have the kick ass apps.

The fact is the audio-listening quality of MP3 is horrible.

How can you expect to do serious listening to music on an ipod or set of computer speakers?

What a joke

1. The iPod and iTunes can play formats other than MP3

2. You can output the music to a high end sound system.

3. You can get some pretty decent earbuds for the iPod.

4. You can't drag your turntable, pre amp, amp, big ass speakers and cases of vinyl LPs around town.

Now back to the feature presentation, "That '70s Show!"

Apple dropped the price of the I-Phone by $200.00. Now another drop of $200.00 will make me a buyer!

OMG!!! The genius's at Apple have created another earth-shattering invention, the ring-tone!! Who would have ever questioned the brilliance of Herr Jobs and his staffel of supporters?? Viva la revolution!

Steve Jobs is the best huckster since P.T. Barnum. You know what P.T.B. is famous for? The quote "There's a sucker born every minute." So true. Does any other mp3 player get this sort of free hype? Only Steve Jobs could convince the Apple fan boys that "ho-hum" is new and innovative. You don't drop the price on your new product 1/3 a month after you introduced it because it's selling well. Apple's not running a charity! If they could continue to get $599 a pop, believe me, they'd keep the price up there.

People, listen to the birds, listen to other people, hear the wind, be aware of your environment.
Don't isolate yourselves in some rap nightmare or saccarine pop tune...

Sometimes you have to get out of the real world of traffic sounds, shouting street preachers, squealing babies, and all the cacophony of the city.

Now when I am in the boondocks I don't listen to my iPod, I take in nature. However, I can't do that everyday.

PS: You can listen to things other than rap or pop on an iPod. On mine I have jazz, classical, folk, poetry, and audiobooks.

I didn't buy the iPhone because I don't want to be any where near Cingular/AT&T from past experience with them.
And I won't be buying an iPod Touch, either. For me to buy even the 16 Gb model, I'd have to jettison most of the music, photos and video that I already have on my "old" 60Gb model, which is already more than half full (and I've got a lot more CDs that I haven't even imported into iTunes yet). Add the Touch features to a hard-drive based unit, and I'll be ready to upgrade. But no sooner than that (unless my current iPod were to die).

The iPod Touch is going to be my "on-the-go" iPod. I will keep my latest songs there, and move my work portfolio there (photography, music videos and commercials). That way, I can free up those gigs on my iPod Video for the rest of my music collection exclusively.

The part that isn't mentioned in the headline is that Apple also slashed the prices on their top end iphone by $200 and discontinued the 4GB version. Pretty much everyone who has bought an iphone is upset, since if you bought it as recently as 15 days ago or earlier, you are not eligible for a refund of the difference.

The Apple discussion board have been experiencing sporadic shutdowns during the day due to the large volume of angry posts. The mods have been furiously deleting the critical posts from customers who feel like they have been ripped off.

Another thing to note is that in order to use the new custom ringtone feature, you have to pay Apple 1.98 per ringtone, 99 cents for the source song, and 99 cents for the ringtone version. Looks like Apple has decided to milk its customers for as much cash as possible without regard for long term loyalty.

Oh please. Get mad at Apple because they cut their prices on the high end version of the iPhone, when you had the choice to buy the not-high end one the first day it came out.

Apple always cuts prices on new and revamped products. These people know this.

I'm on board for the new iPod Touch. Hey, ya think the next version will be cheaper? I'd hate to use my new Touch for a year or two then find out a new version costs less - you know, be ripped off by Apple.
07:07 PM on 09/05/2007
A price drop this soon is good for many and irksome for the early adopters. It will slow down early purchases of other Apple products.

Notice that MS just cut the price of their Ipod wannabe the Zune by 20%. Should the three or four people who have a Zune also be up in arms?

And about the ringtones - Last I looked, most run 2 or three dollars anyway. With the Itunes ringtone, you get a ringtone that you make from any part of the song rather than the part someone else thinks you shouls want and you get the whole song too. Better deal to me.

Wow, Steve Jobs announces that all you fools just spent two hundred dollars too much just ten weeks ago and he is greeted with HUGE APPLAUSE? What kind of sadistic fanboys are these?

Yes there are price drops on new technology but 33 percent after less than two months is like he stood up and said 'you folks who stood in line on the first day were taken to the cleaners like the idiotic sheep you are' and then be greeted with loud acclaimations of BAA! BAA! BAA!

Back a couple of months ago, when the iPhone was first released, if Apple had announced that the iPhone would cost $600 for the next two months, and then $400 thereafter, I would have waited the two months to save the money. That said, I did stand in line for three hours the day it went on sale, and it was a great experience getting the iPhone on day one. I've enjoyed it immensely ever since. $200 to be the coolest camper for two months, in addition to the daily pleasure of using such a world-class device, strikes me as a reasonable price.

For the record, I'm writing this post at Starbucks on my iPhone, and I'm the envy of all these early-morning coffee-drinking nerds. Worth every penny.

No Apple products will worm their way into my pockets. I refuse to be part of the "little white and grey at the ends" earbud IPOD mega-cult infesting my city of NYC.

Apple... worm... I see what you did there.

I was an early adopter of the iPod, so when I see those white earbud-wearing "cultists," I figure they're following a trend I helped to set. Do yourself a favor and pick up an iPhone and a nice pair of black headphones. That way, five years from now, you'll be able to tell people that you had the vision and foresight to buy one of the first billion iPhones sold, but the black earbuds will give you additional street cred as an independent thinker.

Yes, this post was written on an iPhone.
