WASHINGTON -- Iraq's security forces have made "uneven progress" and will be unable to take over security on their own in the next 12 to 18 months, according to an independent assessment.

The study, conducted by a 20-member panel led by retired Gen. James Jones, found the Iraqi Army shows promise of becoming a viable, independent security force with time. But the group offers a scathing assessment of Baghdad's Ministry of Interior and recommends scrapping Iraq's national police force, which it describes as dysfunctional and infiltrated by militias.

Blackwater and Dick Cheney are probably working on a multi year, multi billion dollar contract to take over, even as we speak.

There is no way to right the wrongs we have done....from the initial invasion, itself.

Petraeus told a group of congessmen visiting Iraq last month that it is going to take at least 9 - 10 years to "win" this war.

If we attempted to carry this out for that length of time, we would have to start a draft, we would further sour international opinion running the chance that other Islamic nationa would get involved, we run the risk of retaliation from Islamic terrorists groups, and we would go further into debt.

We can't allow any of these possibilities to become realities.

I have ONE question for congresscritters before they vote on a supplemental or whatever funding for a failed war/occupation:

Would you trust your life to an Iraqi policeman?

Your answer is how you cast your vote!

Americans also believe you can make people love you by raping, pillaging, and blowing up their women and kids.

Some Dem should come out and attack the patriotism of these distinguished career officers. "They would rather fight al aqeda here in america, they don't support the troops, they are not patriots", and all of the fear mongering fascists propaganda lies and bullshit. Then the wingnuts, the moronic assholes they are, would support the retired generals. HA HA HA.

Quote. " It is also worth noting that Gary Hart a former U.S. Senator from Colorado, Implied on September 14 th of 2001 that the " Global War on Terror" sponsored by the Bush Jr. Administration was a pretext for establihing the so called " New World Order". Gary Hart also implicated NATO'S role in shaping this " New World Order". The project is to be implemented by military might.

For the rest of this 7 page report go to www. GlobalResearch.ca and click on War and the new world order. VERY interesting reading.

Oh, and Bush went to ANBAR, where we don't even have THE SURGE GOING, INSTEAD OF BAGHDAD, where he says it is working.

That should tell you that he was afraid of the place where he insists the SURGE is working.

Bush just wants to drag this out, until he leaves office, and he can bomb Iran.

There is no chance whatsoever, that the Iraqi police will ever be functional, unless we truly announce we are leaving and do it.

Then, and only then, the Sunnis, supported by Saudi Arabia, may be able to form a police form that functions in their area, but God help any Shites there, and the same for the Sunnis, although the Iraqi police in the South, who are all Shites have absolutely NO CONTROL OVER THAT AREA, AS THE MILITIA OF THE DIFFERENT SHITE FACTIONS ARE FIGHTING EACH OTHER TOOTH AND TOENAIL THERE.

Here's a unique idea. Let Iraq determine what Iraq does. No benchmarks, no suggestions, no interference. Iraq makes iraq's decisions. It's called self-determination. If it works there we can try it here.

Not possible here. No one around to make decisions. Try Canada, or Mexico.

"Report From Retired Military Officers Recommends Dumping Iraqi Police Force" and in two or three years we can dump the next one.

I guess these retired "military officers" want jobs as MIC lobbyists?

The treachery - no end in sight?

Iraq is not our property!
