Suspected Islamic Terrorists Arrested For Planning Bomb Attacks On US Sites In Germany

Three suspected Islamic terrorists from an al-Qaida-influenced group nursing "profound hatred of U.S. citizens" were arrested on suspicious of plotting imminent, massive bomb attacks on U.S. facilities in Germany, prosecutors said Wednesday.

German Federal Prosecutor Monika Harms said the three, two of whom were German converts to Islam, had trained at camps in Pakistan run by the Islamic Jihad Union, a group based in Central Asia. They had obtained some 1,500 pounds of hydrogen peroxide for making explosives.

It is true Germany has a, excuse the term, liberal position in regard to moslems.

After all, moslems are to Germany as Mexicans are to the US.

As BurritoAss can understand I'm sure.

But I somehow don't think there will be an attack by them on Germany or Germans as such.

Rather, as with Atta and 9/11, they may conduct some of their activities there.

Many go to school there and get advanced degrees, etc.

But don't kid yourself into thinking that the German intelligen­ce and border and security folk are as lackadaisi­cal as US.

From what I read, the folks arrested were targeting AMERICAN targets, not German.

But it's academic: German law enforcemen­t performed up to its very high standards once again.

The German police are pretty brutal at demonstrat­ions. In fact, I was a witness at a trial of an alleged stone-thro­wer. (he was acquitted.­) In Berlin there have been car chases that have ended deadly.

I agree. I find the police relaxed and helpful as well. They know if they bust a poor soul with a few gram, it is not going to stand in court, so what ? Another good thing is: when there is violence at soccer matches, they have strategies to DE-ESCALAT­E and not stir it up more. Could be witnessed at the World Championsh­ip last year.

I live in a Muslim neighborho­od in Berlin. Mostly Turks...ju­st normal people. I feel quite safe here. From what some have told me, they don't particular­ly care for Arabs or Orthodox Islam.
