Three suspected Islamic terrorists from an al-Qaida-influenced group nursing "profound hatred of U.S. citizens" were arrested on suspicious of plotting imminent, massive bomb attacks on U.S. facilities in Germany, prosecutors said Wednesday.

German Federal Prosecutor Monika Harms said the three, two of whom were German converts to Islam, had trained at camps in Pakistan run by the Islamic Jihad Union, a group based in Central Asia. They had obtained some 1,500 pounds of hydrogen peroxide for making explosives.

Not true. Cologne has 1 million people, 100.000 of them Muslims, mostly Turks. 99.9% live here peacefully, many of them for 20 to 30 years and more. One of the three suspects caught today has a turkish background. However if he was born and raised here, to what level does his nationality matter ?

How long does it take to say "Hey guys, let's hijack a few planes and fly them into buildings?" and then for one of them to get on a computer and look up departure times and make reservations. And for learning the basics of flying, a copy of MS's brand new (at the time) Flight Sim 2000 wouldl not only teach you how to fly and navigate right out of the box, but can show you how to crank a plane's engines, etc.

Someone could pull off a bigger attack than 9/11 easy and probably in less than 2 weeks, it's that easy.

I've been reading the German press online and found no "hate against Americans" as the motive. The police don't have as of now knowledge about specific targets. However, there is speculation that the US facility at Ramstein and the commercial airport at Frankfurt were targets.
