Hollywood Won't Back Fred Thompson The Candidate

The place that made the former Tennessee senator rich as an actor cannot be counted on to pour cash into his presidential run, especially if he's going around bashing gay marriage and Roe vs. Wade. The minute he comes out strong against embryonic stem cell research -- a fervent Hollywood cause -- he'll be banished from every cocktail party north of Sunset Boulevard.

"You're asking me if people here will support Fred Thompson?" said Donna Bojarsky, a longtime industry political consultant. "How do I put it? No. No. And no."

Politico Andy Spahn, who has enough Hollywood clients to pack a Directors Guild gala, was more diplomatic.

"I think he will raise some relationship money from people who know him and have worked with him," Spahn said. "But I don't think he'll raise much beyond that here. His political views are out of sync with the community."

Nobody has better summed-up Fred Thompson than his fellow Repug TrickDick, who called Fred "dumb as hell", even while this good ol' boy douchebag was betraying Congress and his fellow Senators by passing confidential Senate impeachment information to Tricky.

Fred has spent 20 years of his career as a lobbyist, including work for an abortion-rights group (the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association) and some of the sleaziest companies and people in the world (Haiti's Aristide, for example). This and his past betrayals of trust make him a PERFECT candidate for the nomination of the Gross Old Pervert party. Perhaps he can get toe-tapping, Lusty Larry to be his running mate - that would actually give his candidacy more class than it has now.

For the Record. The newly invented Reagan that so many cult victims crave for:

1) Slept evey afternoon
2) Publicly confused history with movie plots.
3) Increased the deficit from $68B to $279B
to which Bush #1 added another $110B.
3) When Clinton came in the White House still had the equivelent of a rotary phone system.
4)Reagan HAD THEM REMOVE the Solar panel on the White House roof
5) 21 members of his administration were indicted for crime and corruption.
6) In installed people to head up government agencies (like the Department of Education) who did not believe in their Missions.
7) Under him the Middle Class had to have a second earner just to remain in place.
8) Destroyed other agancies like the USDA, so that there was a surge in fecal matter on beef to 70%
9)Afrer defunding libraries said: "I got this far and never went to the library once"
10) And while the American Fascist Republican Party would have you believe that he ended the cold war and caused the soviet union to colapse. This is a bunch of MALAKY. It was due to the efforts of Leck Walensa (sp?), Gorbachov, and because the Soviet Union was bankrupt and had its own Vietnam in Afghanistan. Any President at that time would have met with Gorbachov etc.
10) Under Reagan the White House was in shamples. His wife used to meet with psychics to talk about what to do WITH POLICY.
11) Young people were despondent and lost hope and idealism..and his support.
12) Not to mention defunding research..and ignoring AIDs which became much worse as a result.
13) One of the first things he did was to eliminate Hi- Tech training and under his policies we lost billions in the Memory chip industry to Japan.

Good for Hollywood! We've tried acting Presidents, and it wasn't a good fit in places... especially when it came to mixing government with religion.

I personally liked Reagan a lot more than others, but voodoo economics, trickle-down, hands-off management, and preconceived untried whimsical policies are walk-about.

Thompson appears to be the none-of-the-above hope or option for Republicans in particular. I might feel the same way if I intended to vote for a political party rather than for the best candidate. Rudy and McCain are right out of Stephan King. Romney is better, but isn't catching on.

Without a good script-writer, Thompson came in at the top of his curve and that isn't good enough.
