Murdoch's Compensation For Year Ending June 30: $32.1 Mil

The heaviest part of proxy season ended in the spring, when we closely watched executive pay and other disclosures. But companies with unusual fiscal years -- those that don't match the Jan-Dec. calendar -- continue to report all year. Today's release: News Corp.

News Corp. said Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch received compensation for the year ended June 30 valued at $32.1 million under the SEC new rules, according to its annual proxy. Peter Chernin, president and chief operating officer, received compensation valued at about $34 million. News Corp., which recently agreed to acquire Dow Jones, publisher of The Wall Street Journal and WSJ.com, said that its compensation committee has determined that there should be parity in compensation between Messrs. Murdoch and Chernin "because they both have responsibilities in establishing and executing the company's overall strategy."

Mr. Murdoch's compensation was mostly salary and bonus, plus the accounting cost to News Corp. of his stock and option grants. Mr. Murdoch's compensation figure also included a $6.87 million change in the value of his retirement benefits, but News Corp. cautioned that value is theoretical and is subject to assumptions and market volatility.

I think you will find out that is a 32 million salary, not what he makes each year. Try figuring all the stocks and investments and interest. He does make a couple billion a year.

And the Thompson being 'lazy' remarks are put forth by the New York hub of corporate media establishment. Thompson is running as a populist because he is not from old moneyed east coast establishment who like to stick with their own. They tried to label Reagan as lazy, but the populist Reagan captured the heart of voters and the east coast establishment had no choice in the matter. This is proof positive that unless the Republicans plan on high-jacking the election, if the Republican voting base wants Thompson, then the 'establishment' has no choice. But if Thompson does get the nomination (I think that he will) they will force him to ensure that his 'potential White House cabinet' is chock full of establishment think-tank members from such bogus but unfortunately relevant (price of getting elected in D.C.) think-tanks such as the CFR. When ever you read or hear the MSM calling Thompson 'lazy' (whether it be true or false), it is the New York hub really saying ... we want Rudy or Hillary to win; consider the source ... and where the source is geographically based in. New York is the hub of much of the MSM.
