Rep. Mike Simpson (R) condemned Senate GOP leaders on Thursday for their treatment of fellow Idahoan Sen. Larry Craig (R), accusing them of hypocrisy.

"I hope I never stub my toe and they throw me under the bus," Simpson said of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and other Republican leaders. "It kind of makes you wonder what party you want to be a member of."

Simpson underscored that he is not considering switching parties. But he also emphasized that he would not want to serve in the Senate, even if chosen by Idaho Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter (R) to replace Craig.

The five-term House member appeared ready to take himself out of the running for a Senate appointment, even though his name remains on Otter's short list and Craig veered back on Thursday toward resigning, as planned, on Sept. 30.

Craig did nothing wrong in that airport bathroom. Where he did wrong was on the floor of the Senate where he used his power to deny his fellow citizens equal protection under the law.

That is why Craig should either resign or take the floor of the Senate and apologize for all the harm he has done to the gay and lesbian community and vow to use his power for the balance of his term to right those wrongs.

People speaking up on Craig's behalf now that the furor is over is like people calling for peace once their ammunition is expended.

This just shows that the Republican Party in Idaho has a lot of dirt hidden under its carpet. They don't want the voters looking to closely at their perversions, theft and lies.

Well so Simpson is upset about dear old Larry, living in Idaho you really have to know that the "good old boy" mentality is alive and well here. They cover each other's butts, lie, cheat, and do whatever they want. Thanks to the REPUBS and MORMONS, we don't really have any choice right now.
But Simpson better not yell too loud, I for one am sure his name will show up on the D.C. madams list. He's such a slug, and has one of the foulest mouths I've ever heard! So take his comments with a grain of salt, the guy is another Bush boot licker.

Probably also a closeted gay with perversions such as underage or public bathrooms.

Idaho Mormons have more dirt swept under their carpets than anyone could bear to know about. They like to handle their own, through the church, or through government employees that belong to the church and participate in the hushing up. They even have their own Mormon psychiatrists to take care of the dads who molest their children. I know; a friend works for a group of them.

That's OK, Mike, Idaho doesn't need you in the Senate, and neither does America.

No more ignoramuses sent to Washington, just because they come from a state filled with ignoramuses. Ditto, hypocrites.

Kansas, Oklahoma, Utah, Arkansas, Texas, and Missouri, listen up!

But there are millions of registered ignoramus voters, and each one cancels out an intelligent voter.

Which supports my contention that there is too much emphasis on getting people to vote, and not enough emphasis on getting people to educate themselves.

If you don't bother to inform yourself, don't bother to vote. Spare the rest of us the price of your ignorance.

Hint: Listening to Rush Limbaugh doesn't count as being informed.

"It kind of makes you wonder what party you want to be a member of."

Well me too! It isn't the party that has built it's fortune on demonizing gays, which unfortunatley is the party that you belong to!

It would be better if the Republicans and many dems lashed out at the interference in the private lives of people.
Whatever a person does with and-or to themselves is their own business. Until this is true we are not a free country.
The neoCons and republicans and all their supporters are totally against Freedom and The Constitution...they talk about Freedom while destroying it.

"If that"s how they treat their own," Simpson said, referring to Senate GOP leaders" quick push for Craig to resign, "that tells me they"re more interested in party than individuals, and the party is made up of individuals. How you treat them says a lot about your party."

they"re more interested in party than individuals
they"re more interested in party than individuals
they"re more interested in party than individuals
they"re more interested in party than individuals
they"re more interested in party than individuals

Well, duh.
