Hamas seems confused about how to quash Fatah protests and simultaneously deal with the media. Trying to nurture a reputation for honesty and legal behavior since it conquered Gaza in bloody fighting in June, Hamas leaders promise journalists freedom of action, but the police intimidate the journalists.

The result is a kind of self-censorship, local journalists say, that goes beyond what they traditionally practiced under Fatah, which also tried to manipulate or own the Palestinian press.

the pro plo media was always a majority..americans long lived in dark and now in creativity ....
the battles that hamas is winning is the seriosity that is showing from isrealis to recognise palestine ,although the only seconder isreal has is washington and one chapter closes....

You mean Hamas is intimidating the media and people in Palestine and its to quiet Fatah? Why how can that be, because the 'left praises Hamas. I thought everything was the jews fault.

if Hamas intimidates journalists, that is clearly justification to kill Palestinians. you know, to liberate the Palestinian journalists.

after all, that is the most pressing problem in Palestinian society: freedom of expression.

Maybe, just maybe, governments try to manipulate the press because they know they aren't that good. Just like that really pretty girl in high school had low self esteem and cut herself while looking perky and cheerful in school.

you're talking about a tiny island of a powerless and poor and oppressed people in Gaza. the world has to worry about the press in rich powerful countries.

in this case, the press of rich powerful countries is routinely demonizing people who are prisoners in their own land. is that in the real interest of Israel, who really needs to be pushed by its friends into granting the Palestinians their God-given dignity and stop pushing them around, for what?

in the same way, the United States needs to be pushed by its friends into shaping the hell up and kicking out the neocons forever. including Hillary.
