Kathy Griffin On Emmy Win: "Suck It, Jesus, This Award Is My God Now"

The HBO movie "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" topped the winners list Saturday at the 58th annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards, taking home five statues including makeup, picture editing, sound mixing and editing and cinematography.

Other programs taking home awards in top categories included "Planet Earth" for best nonfiction series, Bravo's "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" for reality program and Nickelodeon's "Nick News With Linda Ellerbee: Private Worlds: Kids and Autism" for children's program.

Griffin drew laughs in her acceptance speech, saying: "Can you believe this shit? Hell has frozen over. Suck it, Jesus, this award is my god now."

Too bad her show sucks. It simply isn't as interesting or funny as it was in its first year. During the second year, it all seems so affected and put on in order to "shock".

I keep hoping for the experience of seeing some real comedy on the tubes.
This down and dirty stuff is old and its over.

Comedy should be funny, not painful, or obscene ...funny.
Worse than kathy's dirty mouth is the reaction she gets for her gross attempt at humour.
The public seems to love it.

My vote would be Elizabeth first. She is so rude and obnoxious. You can tell it on the other hosts expressions what they think of her. I personally would like to hear Joy being able to talk once in awhile. Elizabeth won't let her. Sheeeshhh.­.. then Barbara. She didn't know what a good thing she had and didn't respect it. IMO only kids. Though I've only watched a little twice this week. I wanted to see how Whoopie and Sherry were doing. They are great but not enough to get me back after Rosie. WW, Kathy is just as humble, if not more so, than my fundie Christian friend who thinks God helped her buy her new car. Divine intervention for a Toyota Prius. And no, I'm not making that one up. That's the ultimate conceit, IMHO.

God can't or chooses not to cure cancer, but it can help its chosen ones buy new cars and it will punish those who get too big for their britches and heaven forbid, take credit for their own work.
