Associated Press:

Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, recently returned from a trip to Iraq, skipped the debate to prepare for a Foreign Relations Committee hearing that he is scheduled to chair Tuesday on the Petraeus report.

Univision invited the Republican candidates for a similar forum, but only Arizona Sen. John McCain has accepted.

I, for one, haven't forgotten the empty lecterns at the NAACP conference, the lack of interest in conversing with gays and lesbians, and the diss to youtube questioners. It's obvious that Republican presidential candidates only care about serving the interests of WASPs -- even when they're Mormons or Italian so-called Catholics themselves.

As a Independent voter, I say McCain is the best person to run our country. We need someone who is not polarizing, who can work well with others, and who puts our country's best interest before his own personal interests.

cc: Hillary Clinton.

McCain's Immigration Bill called for border security and accounting for all the illegal aliens in this country, but due to fear mongers like Tancredo and Lou Dobbs, the bill was labeled amnesty and the American people (who have the shortest attention spans of any country) did not bother to ask questions.

So what do we have now? Illegals still coming in through Mexico, millions of undocumented aliens, and employers still hiring illegals with impunity.

But I guess you can say we did not give them Amnesty..

Sad, Sad, Sad, how ignorant the American public can be.

I can imagine the founding fathers rolling over in their graves....we are now conducting "debates" in a foreign language. Liberals want to to pander to those who REFUSE to learn English and have proven, yet again, that they are here not to be Americans but to be in America.

Where does it say in the Constitution that English MUST be spoken in the U.S.? You're just afraid that those speaking foreign languages are calling you an asshole right in front of your face.
06:17 PM on 09/10/2007
They and you can call me anything you want. English is the coin of the realm and the language of business here. Nobody who speaks Spanish only is going to get anywhere but with like people. They have every right to live in this retarded way. That only makes it easier for others who refuse to buy in to it.
UNfortunately the same people and the liberals who support them want to turn our country into an image of the 3rd world shit-holes that they come from. When it starts appearing in the Hamptons and Nantucket the liberals will wake up...and it will be too late.

Its all about the money, all for corporations, and these little dip shits who make this an issue about race are the biggest fools. This is a movement to remove all barriers from corporations to make money, no tariffs, no pollution control, no human rights... and yet these idiots want to say republicans don't like brown people, well guess what geniuses, its the brown people who are hurt most by these immigrants, and its the brown people we DO owe something to, the ones who where brought here in chains 200 years ago. Not the “brown people” who sneak here in the dark of night, instead of fighting for rights in their own country. Oh but once they get here, they will take to the streets demanding all the rights and bennifits they could never get in Mexico, how fucked up is all this.

In our country the word Hispanic sounds very similar to Muslim, the non-Amuricans like us. We have always demonized certain groups and it now is the turn of these two. I a speaking of the way the two words sound to most GOPs and all the ignorant, uneducated, unsophisticated and unwilling to listen to anything but Rush, Faux News and all that crap. They keep yakking about how they speak English and this is our country and we don't need none (sic) of them furreners comin in here to bring drugs and plant bombs. When anyone falls into the hands of a mass like this with a mentality like the KKK, what chance does he have? One of the biggest blowhards against these people is Lou Dobbs. Ironically, his wife is Mexican. Go figure! I can't think of any group that we, the wasps of America, have not demonized at sometime in the past. It all depends on whose ox is being gored.

I am an environmentalist Dem who is scared of the population explosion we are seeing in the US principally because of these “Hispanics”. Of course there are racists in America, as there are in Mexico, as there are everywhere. For you to put all the responsibility of this crisis on uneducated Republicans is a true disservice to the extent, cause and answer to this problem. You don’t think America has the right to have defined borders, do you still consider Americans pilgrims, never to feel at home in this country, that citizen ship should be available to anyone who can make it to our shores, in a world of billions, you think that is a good idea? And as for Mexicans you talk about them, like they are aboriginals, from the “outback”, when they get here they are far more savvy about exploiting America’s welfare/help programs than most Americans. Mexicans are just like Americans, they are all about rich and poor, don’t give a shit about the environment, misogynistic, homophobic, and love the pope! Yes we need another 100 million red staters here, are you for real?

Lou Dobbs is well respected and has credentials that people who try to shout down opposition to illegal immigration can only envy. Trying to label him is just another tactic the pro illegal groups use when somebody brings to light just how devisive and dangerous this mass migration across our borders really is. Too bad these traitors masquerading as representatives of the American people don't have one tenth of his integrity and courage to stand up to the open border people.

It's hard to believe any sensible American can't see the danger to this country and actually condone the dismantling of laws in order to accomodate the illegal behavior of millions.
04:42 PM on 09/10/2007
Amen, illegal alien advocates are not interested in an intelctual and respectful debate, they want to drag everyone through the mud with them and make it all about race. They do not see that they are the opposit side of the same coin as Rush Limfuck and Ann Culter, ignorant and not interested in getting to the truth.

The Republican Party has become the party of old, Southern, White, males who are Christian Extremists.

The have a two issue agenda: abortion and Gay marriage. Neither of these is a real issue. There are hundreds of issues that are more important: unifying the country, healthcare, social security, bring home our troops, the economy, repairing and rebuilding our decaying infrastructure, border security that will not allow terrorists into our country, the growth of Islamic extremism in our country, education reform, the plight of the middle class, poor and senior citizens.

I would put Israel and uncontrolled immigration on your list and take off terrorism. If we stopped supporting Israel, that would do more to reduce the threat of terrorism than all the liberties we have already given up combined. Immigration is a problem, all of your listed issues are adversely effected by it to some degree.

Make that illegal immigration.
Its a problem that is closer to home than Iraq

The only blocks that still support the President and the Republican Party are Republicans over 40 and Christian extremists.
06:47 AM on 09/10/2007
Republicans realize that voters under 40 and Hispanics have abandoned a dying Republican Party and an administration that has never considered the needs of these two, important blocks of voters.

The GOP is preternaturally, congenitally, and genetically ANTI-NON-WHITE! PERIOD! CASE CLOSED!
11:39 AM on 09/10/2007
shut up, tell that to SCJ Thomas, or Colin Powell, or Gonsalez, or Rice,,et al, or the millions of republican minorities in the US. It is not about RACE, it is about wealth, grow up!
11:28 PM on 09/09/2007
See, it's a no win situation in '08. If the Repugs win, the country is done for, if the Dems win, they'll turn the country over to Mexicans and we'll be living in the Mexican Annex. Oh Canada....
11:34 PM on 09/09/2007
tkk,
I think your assessment is as close to perfect as they come. The American citizen is going to be the loser regardless of which party takes over the presidency. It's all about big business and Mexico.

NAFTA is lowering the wages in Mexico too. Why do you think Mexicans are still sneaking in? I am already in a Cuban colony, I live in Florida. Half the people I know are losing their Condos. There is no homeless shelter in Palm Beach so you see them sleeping on the steps of the library and Saint Ann's church.

Wrong again.

Why can't boned headed liberals (like you) understand that this is NOT a racial issue? Are you REALLY that dumb?

Lets continue the re-education of the below average HP bloggers.

1. Immigration and ILLEGAL immigration are not the same thing. There is a difference. People who understand this, act accordingly. People who don't, resort to useless and worthless name calling that serves NO constructive purpose.

2. ILLEGAL immigration is a much larger problem than people realize. And with the current crop of spineless senators, this nations porous borders will continue to allow the LOWEST form of labor into the USA - unskilled.

3. Liberals and Dumbacrats don't give a damn about the lower and middle class of this country. They would just assume let illegal, expensive labor take their jobs, and make our standard of living suffer.

4. Republicrats are no better when it comes to securing the borders of this country. Mainly because their business interests, like the Dumbacrats, WANT illegal, expensive labor.

5. The myth of cheap illegal labor was busted long ago. When the cost of having illegal aliens in this country gets to high for the employer, they pass the cost on to the government AND American taxpayer.

Class dismissed, dumbacrats!!

"ILLEGAL immigration is a much larger problem than people realize. And with the current crop of spineless senators, this nations porous borders will continue to allow the LOWEST form of labor into the USA - unskilled."...Dumbo

We used to have this thing called a K-12 educational system that turned unskilled labor like my immigrant grandfather into skilled labor. Why did Ronald Reagan do away with that process.
