"Slew Of Speculation" Over Gore's '08 Endorsement

Former vice president Al Gore's pronouncement that he is likely to endorse one of the Democratic candidates for president before the primary season is over has set off a slew of speculation about who his choice might be.

Truth is, the courting of the "Goreacle" began many months ago. Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) and Gore huddled in Nashville in December, and Gore has also met with former senator John Edwards (N.C.). Gore and Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (Conn.) conferred as recently as last week.

Not surprisingly, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) has not met with Gore. Neither has Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. (Del.) nor New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson.

Old Al Gore is a real big whore yes a super fine whore is he.
With his oily fat head and his Indian dead he's the right one for me.
He's got a dwarf for a wife and she'll cause you strife if you step on her toes you'll see. Remember old Frank Zappa he took a crap-pa when he ran a foul of she.
He'll stomp on your rights as well as your left he's a stompin fool you'll see.
because it's death we all crave we'll elect another knave. Al Gore is the knave for me!

Gore was asked to endorse a candidate, but he should pull a Cheney and endorse himself. Gore/Feingold '08 has a nice ring to it.

And why would he NOT be unhappy with Clinton's personal behavior? So was I, and so was everyone I knew. I stood up for Clinton when he was in office, but I should not have had to do so. He knew that they were "gunning" for him, and he gave them all the ammunition they needed. He gave us 8 years of G.W. Bush, and he helped to destroy our country with his arrogant, adolescent, narcissistic behavior! Al Gore has all the right in the world to be angry with Bill Clinton, and I agree with him. I think Al Gore is a more intelligent and a more mature person than Bill Clinton, and I would LOVE for him to try it again as our candidate! We need someone with more "gravitas" than who we have running now, if we are to be assured a victory! I for one believe that person is Al Gore!

The field of less-than-acceptable Democratic candidates may be begging Gore for an endorsement BUT the actual voters are begging Gore to run for re-election.
Bill Clinton helped to spoil Gore's chance in 2000. Let's hope Gore does the same to HRC and decides to take this election.

My guess it will not be a front runner. Hillary has herself and Obama has Oprah. He'll stand up for the little guy.

That or announce that he's running.

Reason, I've always liked and agreed with your posts but this is the BEST! I'm afraid, though, that it is a bit over the heads. At 60mph, not many can figure it out. But is is good. VERY GOOD!

My car does read, Re-elect Gore in 2008.

Gore would steamroll over that awful Hillary without breaking a sweat.
Without him running my hope is that he not only backs Obama but, helps mute the power elites who with the press are trying to undermine Obama.
that would be great.
On second thought, mute the power elites doing everything possible to make sure Hillary is the nominee (did you did a load of that insulting newsweek cover) and make sure anyone but, Hillary is nominated.

Gore has said he doesn't always fly commercial, this thing Hannity has is nothing new or a surprise and the thing is, he knows it, but he's going to take it out and TELL his viewers what to think about it.

KING: All right. We have an e-mail from Jerry in Houston, Texas. "Mr. Gore, how can you fly in your private jet, live in a massive mansion and set an example for others?"

GORE: Well, first of all, I fly commercial most of the time. There are a few occasions when that's not possible. I came here on a commercial airliner and we just finished putting 33 solar photovoltaic cells on the roof of our house. We're right now in the midst of installing a geothermal system for the heating and cooling and changing the remaining lights and windows and insulation that haven't already been done and we are walking the walk and we're going to have a green standard, the lead certification, for our house. Drive a hybrid and all the rest and look, I've never claimed to be perfect but I'm doing the best I can and one of the pledges at the Live Earth concerts, the second pledge is to reduce my own global warming pollution as much as I can and offset the rest in order to become carbon neutral.

And we're asking everybody in the world who attends these concerts or watches them to sign that and the other six points in that pledge and my family and I have long since become what's called carbon neutral. We are part of the solution and not part of the problem.

I must be missing something about John Edwards or he possesses the ubiquitous tragic flaw of inane advisors.

The press release coming out of his camp regarding Gore sounds like a love note passed in highschool class. Edwards should be in aggressive reality discussions with Gore right now. There would most likely be areas of emphasis to be resolved, and Edwards would have to modify priority in some issues in his campaign. It is still early enough for some juggling with a minimum of pain.

There is nothing that should be a showstopper. Their agendas are very similar, obviously Gore's priority is different. Yet, it is not lost on Gore how his national and worldwide impact would increase exponentially if he had a cabinet position or some position-of-power-to-be-named-later by the president elect.

Let's look at the facts. (OK. So it's my opinion.)

If Hillary gets the nomination, progressives lose, lose, or lose. The DLC and likeminded brethren will bump progressives from the Democratic policy table as she makes a hard Right turn to shake moderate Republicans out of the trees and schrubbery. If she should somehow win the election, we will end up wasting another 4 to 8 years bitching about a Washington all too similar to this beauty of a Bubble we have today. If she loses, we go back to the bunkers.

Obama is a wonderful man and candidate, but he is going through a double piling on. He has the growing pains of moving to critical national prominence, AND the wax and wane of huge power influencers working on him. Historically, it is difficult to avoid getting caught in some state of less than maximum potential as the realities work on the candidate, new to the landmined landscape.

The only critical mistake Gore/Edwards could make is a chicken and egg waiting game. Gore waiting too long for Edwards to demonstrate traction. Edwards waiting too long to work for an endorsement which will jet fuel his prospects.

Edwards was on Gore's shortlist for VP in 2000. Second to Lieberman mainly due to lack of experience.

CharlesMac, why should Edwards be hammering out policy with Gore just for an endorsement? Or perhaps you are advocating a joint run. If that's the case, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it just isn't going to happen. Gore is happy doing what he doing without the harness of elected office. When reporters ask his wife or daughters about Gore running they have a "how obtuse are you" look on their face.

No doubt Gore would be an asset working in some capacity within an Edwards administration.

New York Times: On Global Warming, MoveOn Voters Pick Edwards

"In a recent virtual town hall meeting on climate change with the Democratic presidential candidates sponsored by MoveOn.org, former Senator John Edwards renewed his call to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the United States by 80 percent by 2050 and said that his plan for getting there was the "most aggressive" of any of his opponents.

His stance evidently struck a chord with participants in a straw poll on the liberal advocacy group"s Web site which asked, "Which candidate"s position on dealing with the climate crisis do you prefer?"

Mr. Edwards won the poll, getting about 33 percent of the vote. Representative Dennis Kucinich was the runner-up with about 15 percent support. He barely edged out Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama who rounded out the top four. According to Trevor FitzGibbon, a spokesman for MoveOn, 95,284 people voted online."

A guy with a house like this simply is not serious about global warming.

I don't care how he wants to spend his money. That's his business. But anyone with a house this big had better NOT be telling me what kind of car I should be driving.

I would likely support Gore if he chose to get into the race.

If Gore sat this one out, however, and endorsed another candidate, his endorsement would have no impact whatsoever on my choice in the Democratic primary.

Endorsements are only valuable as a way of telling people who NOT to vote for. Gore's endorsement would be meaningless except for voters who dislike Gore and won't vote for any candidate he supports.

What did his "04" endorsement mean? Ask President Dean? Oh, I forgot he didn't get out of the primaries. Who gives a shit if Gore endorses anyone. Think and research the candidates yourself. Make up your own mind and live with the decision. I would like to see a better informed electorate make better decisions than in the last 30 years. The moron in chief is a prime example not to vote for.

I second that opinion. I still fail to see what the love affair with Gore is all about. He wants a carbon tax on corporations? Who will that be passed on to? Yeah, you and me, any tax on a corporation will be passed onto the American consumer.

Instead of raising taxes, how about we clean up government. Make Government accountable for the waste, fraud and pork. Isn't it about time we did that?

Gore was Clinton's bitch and bag man. Remember the Buddhist Temple? Oh wait Gore invented the Internet too. And now he jumps on the global warming bandwagon. He's a one trick pony and I don't get it.

Gore is not a fighter. He bent over and let Bush steal the 2000 election without a fight. I repeat, Gore did not fight for it.

Do you remember the coaching he had for the debates? Gore is not an alpha male, never has been, never will be. In any kind of a fight he will fold like a cheap suit.

He distanced himself from the Clinton's in 2000. Why? Because he knew what was going on in that administration and didn't want to be tainted by the Clinton's.

Clinton et all, are globalist, and now Gore has joined the global bandwagon.

He's finally realized his power, and it doesn't involve public office.

Why people think he will be any different, is beyond me.
