Exploring the neurobiology of politics, scientists have found that liberals tolerate ambiguity and conflict better than conservatives because of how their brains work.

Scientists at New York University and UCLA showed through a simple experiment to be reported Monday in the journal Nature Neuroscience that political orientation is related to differences in how the brain processes information.

The study is a joke and to prove it, notice how little conservatives and the media will actually pay attention to this..very little but if and when the tables get turned watch the "progressives" and the media go absolutely crazy.

What's even more amusing is that most all modern scientific advancements have come from what would be known as "conservative" institutions with "progressive" and "conservative" personalities under a conservative management model.
US Military
NASA
IBM
Bell Labs and so on..

Not much innovation and world changing technology poring out of Greenwich Village, Seattle or San Francisco??

Oh yea....and "progressive" Bill Gates ripped off "conservative" Xerox.

Ah Nope. The institutions may be rigid but the actual scientists tend to be very liberal. My line of work is more in the scientific arena, have done different stints including Gruman and worked with many a scientists some having more than 1 doctorate in different areas. And these are some of the most liberal and often laid back folks I've met. As a matter of fact, these institutions realize this and attempt to create an open and creative atmosphere to attrack them.
This actually creates a security problem in the more rigid institutes and they go through great pains to maintain secrecy while keeping a liberal atmosphere for them.

It is also amazing how poorly they get paid in comparison to their wealth of knowledge.

What a crock.

The US Military's list of "innovations" consists almost entirely of "fission and fusion warheads". Almost everything else was contracted out. And when the big contractors working for the Pentagon _must_ have innovation in a hurry, the odds are that they'll go to a small subcontractor or set up a skunk works.

That's less true, but still true to a large extent, of NASA.

And Gates didn't steal from "'conservative' Xerox": he stole from PARC. Which was one of many research centers set up by the big companies to get their R&D people away from the "conservative" headquarters and into "progressive" environments like Silicon Valley.

HuffPo's trolls have conducted their own study and concluded that:

1. Their sloped foreheads exhibit improved aerodynamics and better acceleration when driven into a block wall.

2. Their pointy heads prove they're "sharp".

I notice you guys keep calling Bush and the GOP conservative. Reagan wasn't conservative either. It's not conservative to run up huge debts while cutting taxes (revenue). That's insane voodoo economics, not conservative.

Best part of this article is the researcher's half-hearted attempt to qualify the finding that conservatives are incapable of processing complexity: "The tendency of conservatives to block distracting information could be a good thing depending on the situation."

Translation: It's important to stay focused and finish reading "My Pet Goat" despite the country being attacked by lunatics.

Pretty good comedy. The simple answer is Fear & Hope. That's how people these day process things. They don't do because they fear...... They do things in the hope off.......

This was absolutely fabulous. At my first read, I died with laughter and self-amusement but it deserved a second read (would a Conservative read something twice? hell some probably wouldn't read it once.) to really catch the nuances of the neurological study. Now when I actually say Tucker Carlson a moron, it isn't just a matter of opinion, there's a neurological basis to the assertion. That liberals are more accurate (2.2x) and more flexible (4.9x) than conservatives is self-evident. To begin with, we as opposed to they live in a fact-filled world not one of their own delusional creation and then since we liberals recognize that circumstances and thus facts do change we can adjust accordingly. Take the gay issue, as science explores what makes a person gay might have a genetic or in-utero hormonal component, liberal positions have evolved. To a conservative, being is a choice made by an immoral person and since their ultimate source of all wisdom describes it as an abomination it is always so with them. On Iraq, the Democrats have a willingness to work with the Republicans yet the Bush Administration it alone is right and has all the relevant information. If it weren't for the fact that conservatives do breed, they would be an evolutionary dead-end.

Yes, and it is because conservatives do breed (and in good numbers), gays and other progressives just might be doomed. :-(

Conservative give birth to gays and liberals.
Look at Cheney's kids. Contrary to conservative gay theory, Gays also reproduce. I bet Mary Cheney will have kids.

No one should lean too far right or too far left. Somewhere is the middle slightly leaning left seems best. This way you can see all perspectives about people's belief systems in a deeper way. Most all politicians suck anyway, right or left. It's a game of fakenss and eventual broken promises. However, I like liberals better because they just seem cooler and smarter.

furthermore, the left-right divide-and-conquer paradigm uses relatively unimportant wedge issues to maintain the Washington Swamp establishment, especially the military-industrial complex.

in other words, the Dems (especially Hillary) says, "I'll give you your social wedge issues, so you will go along with my endless wars, starting with Iran."

that is why they need to start impeachment against Cheney now, to guarantee we won't get another false flag attack, to guarantee we won't get NSPD 51, a Bush dictatorship, bombing Iran and World War III.

He is like so many neocons who begin to bloviate, pontificate and obfuscate when faced with liberal realities that smash and destroy every vestige of confused thought, lying, thieving, conniving and hypocrisy that neocons spew so freely.

Making a conservative's day miserable is the only way to rectify the neurological damage they have.

Another good book.
"The Alphabet vs the Goddess" by Leonard Schlain.

This reminds me of the anthopologists from the 1920's who (in order to support their beliefs that blacks were inferior to whites) would measure brain capacity in skulls differently. With caucasian skulls they would use a compressible material, barley grains. With the negro skulls they would use ball-bearings. When the materials were placed into a beaker voila the barley grain would decompress thereby 'proving' that whites had a larger brain cases than blacks.

Same bullshit different century.

Another brilliant study from the Liberal minds of Berkley

"The Mismeasure of Man" by Steven Jay Gould is all about fudging data because of prejudice.

We all know conservatives like to press the letter W because it reminds them of Bush. They should have used different letters.

I do agree with the Natural Law Party, every candidate should provide P.E.T scans to prove he has a working brain.

There is a philosophical difference. Conservatives think the system is good and the people are bad.
Liberals think people are good and the system is bad.

Ask a simple question.
Why are people poor?
Conservative" They are poor because they are lazy.
Liberal: They are poor because the economy is bad.

I of course as an engineer want to redesign the system to make it more people friendly. I guess
a theologian would want to change the people.

Even religion has figured out money sucks however.
Conservative: It is the love of money. People are greedy.
Liberal: We need a safety net to put poor people back on their feet. They are just unlucky and need a brake.

Why are people poor? They are poor for a number of reasons: physical and mental sickness, overwelming obligations due to bad luck, overwelming obligations due to bad choices, drug and alcohol abuse, poor choices in marriage and/or conceiving children and yes even laziness. Some of these situations are directly the result of the persons choices. Some are beyond the persons control. When it comes to helping people that deserve help Conservatives are much more generous than Liberals with both time and money. Why don't they fix the safety net? Because socialist countries like the Netherlands, Blue states like Massachusettes and Liberal cities like San Francisco prove that it just doesn't work.

No BS here...not exactly rocket science, though...any liberal with conservative acquaintances or co-workers know this is true intuitively...conservatives just can't get beyond their rigid ideas...just incapable of it...for that, their thoughts are dismissed out of hand.

Isaac Newton, Wilbur and Orville Wright, Georges LeMaitre (inventor of the big bang theory), are just a few notables out of the thousands of conservative minded persons that have had no problem getting beyond their rigid ideas. For you and this Berkley study to suggest that Liberals have some mental advantage over Conservatives is not only unscientific, but demonstrably wrong.
