Larry Craig's full legal request to withdraw his guilty plea is in. Here's the key quote saying the media made him do it:

Shortly after Senator Craig's meeting with the Idaho Statesman, in June 2007, Senator Craig was arrested and charged with interference with privacy and disorderly conduct, based on an arrest stemming from an undercover operation targeting gay men in a public men's restroom at the Minneapolis International Airport. Despite Senator Craig's denial of any inappropriate behavior, he was panicked that such allegations would be made public and that they would provide the Idaho Statesman with an excuse to publish its baseless article.

While in this state of intense anxiety, Senator Craig felt compelled to grasp the lifeline offered to him by the police officer; namely that if he were to submit to an interview and plead guilty, then none of the officer's allegations would be made public. Thus, rather than seek legal advice from an attorney to assist him in publicly fighting these charges and potentially protract the issue, Senator Craig's panic drove him to accept a guilty plea, the terms of which offered him what he thought was a private, expeditious resolution of this matter.

There's an interesting blog from a former supporter of Sen. Craig from the head of a "family values" group in Idaho. It makes the argument that his arrest was unconstitutional but goes on to critique Craig's behavior. It's at http://blog.sunvalleyonline.com/index.php/bryanfischer/2141

Glory hole sex is similar to restroom sex. It doesn"t mean a man is gay.

"It is common for heterosexual men to engage in glory hole sex with other men. Whether they harbor homosexual tendencies, are merely curious, or desire a sexual outlet outside their marriage, the fact is glory hole sex cannot be considered a purely homosexual activity. Further, it is an oversimplification to label this sexual practice under the banner of either heterosexual or homosexual when its very design and use negates issues of being, identity, and what Deleuze and Guattari would call, "organ-ized" bodies."

I sincerely hope you are merely putting on an act. You've got a very long history in this forum of vitriolic posts towards men. You've surely been abused by a man or men in yur life. Seek help.

Interesting: "Wide Stance" Craig, a US Senator no less, lost his ability to reason and pleaded guilty. Just the type of Senator that needs to be removed from office by the good people in Idaho. We need leaders that are "cool" under pressure, not latent homosexuals in the US Senate.

What Senator Craig does is his own business. But, get real. The only pressure this guy felt was the pressure of being exposed for something far worse than a misdemeanor. I ask you, who among you would ever plead guilty to ANYTHING if you were just stomping your feet and not trying to avoid being outed for homosexual behavior. However, all this foot stomping as a prelude to a sexual hit seems sureal to me. BUT Craig did plead guilty in a plea bargain. Not reasonable for him to plead unless he was worried about being outed in a court appearance.

Every one of the votes he cast since June should be withdrawn or thrown out. In the "state of intense anxiety" he claims, he could not do The People's business.

At the least he should be run out on a rail for his extremely poor judgment.

.
Craig's state of anxiety.. came from his anticipation that he would be wetting his whistle in that bathroom stall...

Craig Blames Himself, Says "State of Intense Idiocy" Led to Wrong Plea

Does everyone realize that Craig played his naughty little boy bathroom games on JUNE 11th and he didn't cop his guilty plea until AUGUST 1st? That's seven long weeks to seek professional advice and research what makes it into the public records! The media makes it sound like poor Craig was forced to sign a guilty plea within hours of leaving the bathroom stall.
Family values, my ass. Like so many, many other criminal Republiscums - from the Bush Crime Family on down - he reeks of hipocrisy.

The media has commented on the months he had to deliberate.

And you can bet the Court of Appeals will take note of it when denying his motion to undo the plea.

Actually, I think most of Washington and the legal community knows there is a snowball in hell chance that the Court will undo his plea.

It's a thing called "precedent." Like I said before, millions of far less intelligent and "street smart" defendants plead guilty every month.

Craig's papers have not provided any reason whatsoever to say that people of his standing, intellect and emotional state should be allowed to plead guilty, and then when things blow up, be permitted to undo the plea.

Hear their lame rant? Can"t you just groan?
Fans of Coulter, O"Reilly; no thoughts of their own --
Send in the trolls.

Aren"t they a bitch? Heads up their ass?
Neocons babbling so loud, and always with sass.
So where are these trolls? Send in the trolls.

Bridge:

When they can"t win, they can their spin,
Selfish and rigid; no logic to their stupid din.
Bigots and homophobes; sexists, liars, and racists
Proselytizing Christofascists.

Don't you love farce? Listen to them;
Tactics and bullshit " hypocrites right to the end.
So where are these trolls? So send in the trolls.
They hide "cause they"re wrong.

Hear their lame rant? Barf if you need,
Trashing our civil rights to quench their sick greed.
So where are these trolls? There always are trolls...
The world should not heed.
