Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today after meeting at the White House with President Bush on Iraq:

"President Bush's policy announced by General Petraeus is a path to 10 more years of war in Iraq. General Petraeus' testimony to Congress drew a bright line: redeployment is not an option; endless war in Iraq is the Administration's only option.

"Under the Bush plan, 130,000 Americans will remain in harm's way in Iraq at a cost of hundreds of billions of additional taxpayer dollars. This status quo policy was rejected by General James Jones, whose recent report stated that significant force reductions are possible and that we must reduce our military footprint in Iraq.

"The Bush-Petraeus plan of 130,000 Americans in Iraq for 10 more years is not a reduction in our footprint; it is an insult to the intelligence of the American people to call that a new direction. It is a status quo plan that tells the Iraqi government that they do not need to change.

"The American people long ago rejected the President's plan to stay in Iraq, which is why they voted for a New Direction in 2006. Yet, with his veto pen and the 60-vote hurdle in the Senate, the President is preventing the redeployment of our troops, the rebuilding of our military, and the refocusing of our nation's efforts on fighting terrorism."

Dear Nancy,
It pains me severely to say this, not especially because I hold you in such esteem, and nnot because I care a great deal for your Party, but because I care like Hell for my once and hopefully future counntry, America. You say that Bush wants ten more years of war? And yet you do nothing to stop him? You say that his policies will cost us taxpayers and even cause more of our young people to die? And still you delay calling the adminnistration to task for its wrong doing? Why do you yack so much? Why don't you do the thjing that would stop him in his tracks. Impeach the bastard for lying to us annd starting an illegal war. Thyat is the best way to prevent the evfil little toad erxploder from doing it again..
Or does your allegiannce to the same masters block you from that possibility?
Most sincerely,
Plowboy

PART 1

"...Bush's policy announced by General Petraeus is a path to 10 more years of war in Iraq."
Yeah, and looks like you're making damn sure that comes to pass, right Nancy? So good of you to take impeachment off the table... What a gal! Let's all just work together and get along, right? How is that working out for you and for all the people still getting killed overseas thanks to your chumminess with this band of criminals you beam at and nearly swoon when they so much as grace you with a personal meeting? Nice work, Nancy! Very inspirational to all the rest of the Democrats who look to you for leadership and guidance.

“...it is an insult to the intelligence of the American people to call that a new direction.”
Yeah, and so is this bullshit you’re spewing now.

“It is a status quo plan that tells the Iraqi government that they do not need to change.”
The Iraqi government is hardly to blame in all of this. This Administration has made damn sure they never get on their feet again. Whenever they show some sign of progress, that avenue is quickly cut off for them: i.e.: Stopping the very successful Iraqi police training programs in Jordan. The disbanding of the Iraqi army while letting them keep their weapons.

“Yet, with his veto pen and the 60-vote hurdle in the Senate...”
Oh Puhhlleeeaaase!!! This is a very weak and transparent, ‘not my fault’ attempt at covering your ass for relentlessly helping this Administration along on their massive, criminal agenda. There are other options on the table, Nance, they just happen to require a little extra work and some honest caring and dedication even. You and the other craven, colluding Democrats who keep allocating more war funds to the ...

PART 2

... criminals running this country, know very well that you could dig in and ride this out. For reference as to how (in case you are somehow unaware...) I will quote another poster, who addressed this issue so clearly, that I couldn’t really do better myself:

The following was written by *newpantaloons* a poster who was responding to Chris Weigant’s post of yesterday: “Open Letter To Speaker Pelosi And Majority Leader Reid”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-weigant/open-letter-to-speaker-pe_b_63706.html

Quote
“Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have the power to just not allow these bills to come to the floor for a vote. If (and they will) the Republicans start slandering with "they don't support our troops" and "they are emboldening the enemy", let the Democrats get out in front of this attack with language of their own. Borrow some of the same talking points that Republicans have used for the last 12 years! This is a way to defund the war without actually doing it.

Send bill after bill to the floor to stop this ILLEGAL war. Let the Republicans filibuster all they want. Talk, talk talk about "obstructionism". Let Bush veto over and over. Talk about who is supporting the troops. When Bush sends a bill to Congress, just sit on it until he concedes to something that the Democrats want. NEVER let a bill come to ...

PART 3

... the floor by a Republican Congressperson. EVER! If it is a good bill, rework it in Committee and reintroduce it as a Democratic initiative. (Congresspeople get really nervous when there is no legislation introduced by them to show to the voters back home. It just might make them decide to be a little less obstructionist). This is the way the game has been played for 12 long years. This bipartisanship is bullshit! Do the Democrats really believe they won't get slimed by the Republicans no matter how nice they are??!! Payback is hell! This is how you play HARDBALL! The voters that put them into the majority are looking for some hardball!”
End Quote

You and the Democrats are the ones who need to refocus that pretender you keep calling “the President”. You have the power to do so. Your constituents gave you that power. You are squandering that power and every hope of the poor fools who actually thought they could trust you with it.

Maybe it's time you climbed out of that Trojan horse and owned up to who you really represent Nancy. Because you sure don't represent the majority of the American people and you sure as hell don't represent most of your Democratic constituents. Let’s stop pretending, shall we?

Since Nancy & Harry & other Dimocrats keep granting W's requests to fund the war with no time limits the war will go on for at least 10 years. When the 44th POTUS takes office the war is the war of & will be blamed on the 44th POTUS. W will no longer have the problem of the war when he leaves office. Bush 43 is lucky &/or smart. Harry & Nancy aren't smart or lucky. SSDD

Bush plans to repeat repeat repeat "I've brought democracy to the Middle East." Anyone after Bush who tries to end his project will be blamed for being anti-democratic, for failing the great democracy project. Do the Democrats and Rebublicans in Congress or running for President fall for this?

Well, of course she can understand that... She will personally make sure of it!

Need more proof? Look at this article: "Miers, Bolten contempt filings delayed"
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0907/5750.html

And I quote:
"House Democratic leaders have decided to postpone a vote on a criminal contempt resolution against White House chief of staff Joshua Bolten and former White House counsel Harriet Miers for several weeks, and possibly longer, according to top lawmakers and aides.... House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) said he is uncomfortable with the delay and worries the House will be seen as toothless unless it moves quickly to hold top officials in contempt for failing to provide documents and testimony in congressional probes....the slowdown, approved by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her top lieutenants... But Pelosi decided to delay a vote until at least late September, and possibly into October..."

I swear this woman is Bush's personal guard dog.

Pandering Nancy and Pillow Talking Harry will probaly go down in history as the DISGRACE TWINS! These people are not worthy to call themselves AMERICANS.

THEY SHOULD ELICIT VOMIT FROM EVERYONE WHO HEARS OR LOOKS UPON THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE SICKNING AND A DISGRACE TO AMERICA and all it stands for. And I bet TIP O'NIEL IS TURNING OVER IN HIS GRAVE AT THE SIGHT OF THEM.

These people have about as much integrity as a piece of chewed bubble gum. I turn my tv off when they appear on it. I dispise them about as much as I dispise maggots, indeed, both ( Pandering Nancy and Pillow Talking Harry) of them. I better stop before I TELL YOU ALL HOW I REALLY FEEL ABOUT THEM! lol

The Iraq invasion is without doubt the single greatest blunder in American history, and Bush is its author. Continuing to push this failed venture only proves that Bush is in some sense insane. I would propose he suffers from Narcissistic Personality Disorder, since he seems pathologically unable to admit mistakes, has a pathological disregard for the truth, and feels he doesn't have to live by rules that the rest of us do. Whatever diagnosis, the man is clearly pathological.

And STILL impeachment is off the table !?!

Madam Speaker, please (re-)read para deux of the Declaration of Independence:

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

http://www.archives.gov/national-archives-experience/charters/declaration_transcript.html

Impeach Bush and Cheney. Put the ball in Low-Road Reid's court.

It is not only OUR right, it is YOUR duty.

I look forward to hearing you speak to the masses marching to impeach on Sept. 15. You ARE planning on doing so, no?

Bravo! As for "I look forward to hearing you speak to the masses marching to impeach on Sept. 15." I wouldn't hold my breath. Lady Pelosi is done with her campaigning, here at the Huffpo and elsewhere. She got what she wanted and is now serving her true masters from her Trojan Horse position at the head of the House of Representatives. And a fine job she is doing for them too! Oh, if she were only on our side...

You need to (re-)read the latest poll, which says that 62% of Americans still think that there is no justification for impeachment.

Impeachment is not about unpopularity, either of the President or of the mechanism.

To your point, our Founding Fathers saw it coming. Please reread pertinent quote above.

Key bits:
"...all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."
