The Associated Press reports on the online mashup sponsored by Yahoo!, Slate Magazine and the Huffington Post....

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton on Wednesday dismissed criticism from her chief rivals over her acceptance of campaign contributions from lobbyists, calling their concerns "a little inauthentic" since they accept money from lobbyists' employers and relatives.

In an interview for an online candidates' forum sponsored by Yahoo!, Slate Magazine and the Huffington Post, Clinton also announced she would release her plan to offer universal health coverage next Monday.

"I hope the headline will read, 'Hillary is back and we're going to get it done this time,'" she said.

All eight Democratic contenders participated in the so-called online "mashup," including Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Bill Richardson, Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, and Mike Gravel.

They took questions from moderator Charlie Rose on education, health care and the Iraq War, many of which were submitted from readers online. Comedian Bill Maher also made a surprise appearance, offering "wild card" questions on issues such as whether marijuana should be legalized.

Democrats, like Republicans, love their weasel words.

The only way to stop the Iraq War NOW is to impeach bush and cheney for their crimes.

WHY IS DENNIS KUCINICH LEFT OUT OF THE LIST OF CANDIDATES?? I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THE MEDIA IGNORING HIM, HE IS MY CANDIDATE OF CHOICE. I EXPECTED BETTER OF HUFF POST, BUT I GUESS I WAS WRONG. ARIANNA YOU ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN CNN, FOX, NBC, ABC, ETC. GIVE ME A BREAK.

Looks like Kucinich is the favorite of the late night-early morning voter block - I like Dennis as a speaker, but he's too "out there" to be a serious contender for POTUS - can you imaging the beating he would take by the right wing hate machine? I shudder at the thought.

Kucinich is our Ron Paul. They're just having fun running for POTUS. Nothing wrong with that - it's a free country. Lyndon Larouche ran once while in prison.

The right-wing hate machine made Max Cleland look like a draft dodger living in Canada. There's nothing they can do to Kucinich.

And no, he's not "out there" at all. Compared to the denial-before-sanity crowd, he's the only one who is sane. We know exactly why we're in the mess we're in, and the more establishment you are, the less likely you are to extricate us from that mess. It's not complicated. Corporate control of government and media is ruining this country and making us a third-world dictatorship. We can let it all go down the crapper ...

... or we can embrace someone who's not afraid to tell it like it is..

Most of the Democratic candidates are cowards.

Obama told Bush to go fuck himself yesterday; I'd say that qualifies as telling it like it is.

he's really not too out there.

his positions come from thinking that a decent human being whose views are based on common sense and compassion has any place in politics.

the electorate has repeatedly shown they do not, and then has the nerve to act surprised when our society goes to hell.

If Edwards, Obama or Hillary is the candidate do you believe they can use the Iraq War as their issue. They all voted to support this war. Yes they can call Kucinich names and attack him on his looks but that is all they can do.

Sen. Hillarious response to Bill Maher's question reveals what a air-head this broad is. She, just like Bushit, in her stupidity grossly underestimates the intelligence of those in the American public who can think for themselves. What a boob she is!

Wow.
You managed to use "boob" and "broad" in the same post.
Can this level of intelligence really be underestimated?

You have room for two pictures of dog-faced Maher and two pictures of idiot Charlie Rose but none for serious candidates like Kucinich.

What a rag.

If the war doesn't end now, it will definately end in 08 when the Dems get enough seats to overide any Presidential veto. The next President will be one of the Democratic candidates and the Iraq war will be shut down.

We need to look beyond Iraq and concentrate on what kind of America we want. Edwards seems to have the clearest vision of what this country needs. Health care for all, the return of the middle class, worker's rights, capitalism with regulations, independence from foreign oil and the reduction of green house gases.

While I'm not an Edwards supporter (I truly believe that Obama could turn the Middle East equation in our favor with the type of plan he outlined for Iraq yesterday and his willingness to meet with Arab leaders and treat Arabs as equals), your point about getting "enough seats to overide any Presidential veto" only works if Clinton is not the nominee.

Her negative, disapproval rating is so high that the Democratic party may lose seats in Congress and the Senate if she wins the nomination (a complaint already expressed by congressional candidates across the country). A number of seats that were won in the last voting cycle have a GOP leaning. And the country does not have a high opinion of the job performance of incumbent representatives.

So, in effect, her win would likely be her's alone. The Republicans would regain control of the House and Senate.

Unless we have a candidate that can appeal to Republicans and Independents as well as Democrats, nothing will get done.

We will have slowed the Republican march temporarily. But, four years later, we'd be right back to where we are now with nothing to show for it.

An excellent point!

The MSM has yet far to examine the effects either good or bad should Hillary win. The wagons will surely circle, and I expect Rove to be right in the center of the storm.

Funny how yet another "headline" story on HuffPo manages to totally overlook Kucinich. I guess nobody wants to know where he stands on any issue.

Is it because everybody already knows where he stands and has for a very long time? Is it because he's been the clearest about all of his views? Is it because his vision for the future of our country is the most crystalized of any of the candidates?

Once again, we don't even have an image of him among the "candidates". You wouldn't even know he was running.

Somebody please ask Arianna why he is being marginalized and censored here on HuffPost, an allegedly progressive website.

Inquiring minds want to know.

If you are both a blogger and still want relevancy on the MSM stage - aurally, visually, or in print, you must accept the MSM agenda to the degree that only Corporatist-enabling candidates are given legitimacy.

Arianna has a right to support her candidate. It is clearly Barack Obama. It is certainly NOT Hillary Clinton. A neophyte would appreciate the fact that no love is lost between those two, or among the three of them.

I also believe that Arianna's centre left politics - once described as liberal Northeast Rockefeller Republican Brahmin --is anathema to the socialist leftist views of Dennis Kucinich whom I absolutely agree with. Gravel is, most assuredly, pit humour....but Kucinich is a true spokesperson for the anti-New World Order crowd.

thank you for putting huffpo in perspective. When I began frequenting this blog, I thought it was progressive and honest. Now I see that there are issues and people who don't exist for this blog. One is Dennis Kucinich and the other is 9/11 investigations. This is not an open forum after all. Maybe my time is better spent elsewhere.

The Channukah/Christmas/Winter Solstice and other holiday periods are fast approaching. Gifting is the tie that binds all such celebrations. For children especially, toys dominate the gift list.

Segue into "fast track unamendable trade agreements" in the US Congress that can only produce an up or down vote. International global corporatist "governments" have trumped the national sovereignity of our national pseudonyms.

A new language and economic ignorance made the sheeple accept that "cheaper products" were a win-win. It is the most egregious lie ever successfully sold to bubba and bubbette.

Slave labour abroad, in Central America and Southeast Asia, has its desired effect. Huge profits in manufacturing, and greater profits in selling at wholesale or retail levels. It depresses wages for the fewer manufactured goods in North America while blackmailing workers to accept the New World Order or lose their meagre-paying jobs.

The New World Order is the Corporate hegemonist's game plan. Politicians of either spectrum have long ago bought this plan. The DLC bought this plan for the "left" and usurped all nationalistic and true liberal opposition and took the leadership. Ditto the neo-conservatives who, with the Dixiecrats and the Theocrats as leaders, trumped the true GOP.

So, if you do not want the MSM to marginalise your reality, you must sign on to the New World Order and confirm your approval of it.

With trillions at stake, these individuals spend billions to assure the sheeple with nationalistic fervour remaining, that their views are archaic, and more, that the future is irreversible. That is an expensive lie, but they paid for it.

Make no mistake. The world's most powerful families have made their corporations more than legal entities. They have more rights than human beings. They have a clear view of the world. The Haves and the Have Nothings.

You, like me, are white collar professionals. You have undergraduate and graduate school educations in your field. You were told that this shift was principally for the poor and working classes. In the new caste system, the "Untouchables" would be the losers, but not "us".

American and Canadian universities, and especially graduate and professional schools, are populated by foreign students....especially from India and the People's Republic of China. The visa programmes have allowed these students to become legal workers and become dual nationals.
They can return home, and with the satellite communications, can actually interact with any "trading region/formerly known as nations" from their homes.

These white collar professionals will work for much less than the American student who has huge debt to repay their student loans. Meanwhile, the Indian and Chinese governments have paid for their students' education. Get it, neocon trolls....your more astute progressive citizens do.
