In advanced excerpts of his remarks, Obama, who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, says the "bar for success" now in Iraq "is so low that it is almost buried in the sand... We've had enough of a war that should never have been authorized and should never have been waged."

"I opposed this war from the beginning," Obama says, according to the excerpts. "I opposed the war in 2002. I opposed it in 2003. I opposed it in 2004. I opposed it in 2005. I opposed it in 2006. I introduced a plan in January to remove all of our combat brigades by next March. And I am here to say that we have to begin to end this war now."

WE "WON" THE WAR IN IRAQ WHEN THE IRAQI ARMY WAS DEFEATED. WHAT WE ARE NOW ENGAGED IN IS A SUPPORT/OCCUPATION MISSION. SUCH A MISSION CANNOT BE WON OR LOST.

It is time to let our representatives know that, we the people, want the current support/occupation to have an end in view consistent with our interests. An end in view that will permit our troops to return from this second mission. It is well past time for bi-partisan support to end the occupation.

I can't believe this bogus, hackneyed, disingenuous LOE (Lack of Expereince) argument is still being used as a proxy for "he's too black". The other two front runners have less political office experience. And neither one has demonstrated better judgement than Barack. The bigger contradiction though is the fact that we have experience out da wazoo in the WH, and it's been a collosal cluster-f*&%!!

So be up-front--I'd respect you more--and squash the LOE horseshit.

No where in his report did General Petraeus mention the costs of continuing this war and surge in human and financial terms. So I will ask the question. How many more American troops and innocent Iraqi civilians will die and be maimed for life as you continue this idiotic war and surge, General? A secondary consideration for you and the Great Warrior President, I am sure. After all, you General have your promotion and your ass is safe in the command center.

the reason Obama cant' win even with what everybody thinks oprah supporting him sorry you people give her more clout then she really has ,this is not racist even though a lot of you will say so is he is freshman senator and to green behind the ears sorry he is not up for the first spot and if you want to yell the racist word some of you should look at oprah she has never done or said anything about anything political in her life and think she even stated something that she doesn't involve herself with politics ,so why is she all the sudden hyped up with being political cause Obama is half black ,so people i know i'm going to say something that's true but everyone is afraid to say it cause it's not politically correct to say ,but maybe oprah is racist, the dems ticket that will win against any repukes they try and sell the 25% ignorant followers from a actor since they think it worked so well for arnold, and reagan and a cult mormom who must give 10% of the money to their cult , whoops ,i mean church ,sound familiar scientology works the same way, hmmmmm, and everyone i hear in New York say guiliani is liar nothing new repukes do that so well, and greedy made a lot of money from the 9/11 disaster ,what's that all about ,anyone question him on that ,so dems best chance is EDWARDS/OBAMA ON DEMS TICKET

I hate it when one of my posts gets stuck at the end of a page!!

What America needs is either Gore/Kucinich or Edwards/Obama.
Integrity, Intelligence, Populism and a very good understanding
and real appreciation of the Constitution of the United States!!!

What we don't need is any more GOP fascist puppets or to swap
a Clinton for a Bush, until America tragically comes to JeeeBush!

Your intelligence requirement cancels out Edwards. The rest have brain and depth though.

But to say he isn't intelligent is foolish in the extreme.

The rest of the planet is not ready to suspend belief and join many Americans in the fantasy that the Corporate hegemonists will allow the vast oil Middle East reserves to become energy for their global competitors. Never.

As it was formerly understood, and this is the key, there is no longer national sovereign governments. There are no longer corporations with power less than the individual citizenry.

Yes, those institutions are retained in order to give a false sense of security to the masses who are manipulated to believe nothing has changed in their universe.

Clinton, Obama and other "cognoscenti" are aware that they are allowed to huff and puff like the big bad wolves....but they will never blow the pig's brick house.

That is the real "fable."

The only way Kucinich could get even the VP job is on the broad coattails of Al Gore. Dennis is closest to my sentiments but let's be practical and go what is winnable. The best ticket we can be sure of success with is the exciting and attractive pairing of Edwards/Obama.

I oppose this Military leader for his treason. His demeanor towards Senator Clinton shows his political leanings. He and so many others in our Military defied and smeared President Clinton, that it is now a matter of course to betray their oath and duty and loyalty to our Constitution.

This son of a bitch fits superbly as CEO of Blackwater, USA. He, like Bush, does not have the courage or honesty to let private companyies secure the Iraq Oil.

Does anyone know why President Bush would appoint the founder of the biggest bankrupt subprime lender in the country ambassador to the Hague?

I can't imagine why the founder and chief crook of Ameriquest mortgage is now the US ambassador to the Hague. He was sued by thirty state attorneys general prior to skipping the country.

That was BEFORE Mr. Bush appointed him.

Unless it's related to the HUGE campaign donations the founder of the biggest (now defunct) subprime lender in the country gave Bush/Cheney.

The reason I ask is that the US Ambassador to the Hague "forgot" to pay the property taxes that were rolled into his rip-off mortgages, and now the Americans who made payments to Ameriquest are having their homes seized on tax liens, although they MADE the payments to the Ambassador to the Hague, former CEO of Ameriquest, HUGE Bush/Cheney donor.

Do we have an extradition treaty with the Hague?

Republican Forecast: Cloudy
Party's Woes Go Beyond Bush as It
Bleeds Support Among Key Groups
By JACKIE CALMES
September 5, 2007; Page A8

WASHINGTON -- For Republicans hoping the 2008 campaign will bring a fresh start after the troubled tenure of President Bush, there are sobering signs: Evidence indicates that the party's problems with the American electorate are much bigger than the president and won't go away when he leaves office.

Recent voter surveys, including private polling done by a leading Republican strategist, suggest a broader erosion of Republicans' appeal. In particular, three groups crucial to Mr. Bush's goal of a "permanent Republican majority" are drifting away: younger voters, Hispanics and independents.

Explains alot about polls. No wonder I don't pay attention to them.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:55 PM on 09/12/2007

Those are remarkable numbers, and they point to big problems for the Democrats. Nancy Pelosi has pledged to revisit the FISA legislation passed just before the August recess to further restrain our intelligence agencies. That move would prove very unpopular, as IBD's polling shows. They also want to press for a closure of Gitmo and have repeatedly attempted to curtail the Patriot Act, all efforts that act against the broad majority of public sentiment. If they follow through on those promises -- a tall order in this Congress, apparently -- they may wind up racing to minority status in record time after winning the majority.

Like I always said, Defeatocrats will step all over their own DORKS.
