Reid Vows To Block Rumored Gonzales Replacement

First Posted: 03/28/08 03:45 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 01:15 PM ET

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid vowed on Wednesday to block former Solicitor General Theodore Olson from becoming attorney general if President George W. Bush nominates him to replace Alberto Gonzales.

Congressional and administration officials have described Olson as a leading contender for the job as the nation's chief U.S. law enforcement officer, but Reid declared: "Ted Olson will not be confirmed" by the Senate.

"He's a partisan, and the last thing we need as an attorney general is a partisan," Reid told Reuters in a brief hallway interview on Capitol Hill.

Bush has appointed people for toeing the neoCON line not because they are qualified.
Pelosi and Reid have got to go...especially Pelosi...secret trade agreements and not holding this criminal Bush administration accountable for destroying the Constitution, American freedom and Prosperity.

Harry wont do this, He's like Bush, what he says is the direct opposite of what he will do!

Jesus said it best: " You shall know them by their fruits"; ONLY facts and truth should define reality, not innuendo and inference like the BUSH crowd defines reality....

Olsen is just another spoiled 'fruit' on the corrupted vine of Republican Injustice Department wannabees....
Are there no respected repubs who can be trusted to follow the Constitution rather than their partisan polemics and pronouncements? Where are the compassionate conservatives when WE REALLY NEED ONE? whoops, not in the Olsen appointment....

Ted Olsen is just about the only candidate WORSE and MORE DANGEROUS than Gonzalez!

WHY?

Because, in case you forget, Olsen was at the epicenter of the cabal that worked hard to dig up dirt and illegalities against the Clintons in previous years.

Also remember that Rove put his lead Opposition Research Attack Dog in as US Attorney in Arkansas last year, specifically to dig up dirt on Hillary Clinton.

I HAVE SAID IT BEFORE AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN:

If Hillary Clinton is nominated by the Democrats for the 2008 election, Karl Rove's minions will do everything possible to have her INDICTED shortly before the election, to vaporize her candidacy and deliver the White House yet again to the Repulsblicans!

Rove did it to the Governor of Alabama and he will do it to Hillary Clinton... That's what he meant by referring to her as "fatally flawed.

At this point it doesnt matter if its Barney Fife, which would be an upgrade.

Republicans, remember this. Remember the last 7 years, cause this is all comin back to you in spades. In 415 days, you will be watching us govern for the next 40 years, and whenever youre tempted to squeal "partisan" like a little girl, just SHUT THE F&*K UP instead. Got it?

I guess that means Olsen is in.

Be VERY careful, Harry. They are one iota away from nominating that idiot Lieberman.

Think of what that would do to your applecart with a REPUBLICON governor in CT......

The faster and more completely we leave this administration bare the better. No AG is better than a bush AG.

Just when you think it can't possibly get any worse they come up with TED OLSEN.

What the hell happened to America?

Would someone PLEEZE tell me.

Do NOT approve this MONSTER! He is noting but a "Party Hack," and if the Democrats give in, I swear that I will change my political party! I am sick to death of the Democratic lack of "Backbone!" It is long past time to grow one! This MONSTER must not be approved. It would be far better to go without an Attorney General! Much less damage would get done in this criminal administration. If you need to do something, IMPEACH!

Do conservatives really want to re-visit the Clinton impeachment, the Arkansas Project and Bush v. Gore?

Oh, good.

I suggest we see those tapes of the GOP Congressional staffers banging on the windows, demanding they stop counting votes.

OH hell Reid will back down like he always does. He's a pussy just like almost all the dems are. They are the only people who can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

He can bluster all he wants but the second Rush Osamabinlimbaugh or Fox Noise begins to question his patriotism, Reid, will as always, back down and give Shrub whatever the hell he wants.

We'll see. The Dems are playing for bigger stakes now.
They will not hold on to their majority if they don't stand up to Bush. They can't defy the will of the people and not pay for it big time, electorally.
I think Reid and Pelosi understand this.

They approved the new and improved let-Bush-spy-on-US agenda.

They approved Bush's funding for more war.

They won't do their constitutionally-mandated duty and impeach Bush & Cheney.

What makes you think the dems will stop Olson's appt.?
02:17 AM on 09/13/2007
Absolutely. Since I'm in the low class league along with most of America I can tell you they are talking amongst each other for alternative choices. They won't tell anyone but they are checking them out nonetheless. Word of mouth goes a very long way when it has to. We are in deep trouble and we know it. We also know there isn't a human in Wash. DC. who gives a rats ass or anyone's ass about the middle class or the lower middle class. They talk a lot but they've been talking for a long time. It's finished. They have nailed their coffins, so to speak. They won't be voted in again. Not even for dog catcher.

Unless they make some pretty bold moves and start talking the truth they are done in Wash.
