With lawmakers openly skeptical of his troop buildup, Mr. Bush will cast his plan for a gradual, limited withdrawal as a way to bring a divided America together -- even as he resists demands from those who want him to move much faster.

The prime-time address will be the eighth by Mr. Bush on Iraq since the invasion in March 2003, the latest iteration of his efforts to sketch what he calls "the way forward." It will be the first time he has described a plan for troop reductions, a radical departure for a president who has repeatedly defied his critics' calls to bring the troops home.

Yet as the president outlines his plan, his critics say he is trying to have it both ways. He is, they say, taking credit for a drawdown that has been envisioned since he first announced the current buildup on Jan. 10 -- a withdrawal that had to be carried out unless he was willing to take the politically unpalatable step of extending soldiers' tours further.

Mr. Warner and the rest of his well-heeled Repubs can posture all they want - say what they want - just remember, your job is on the line and we will be watching how you vote.

Not only watching, but sending millions of email messages around the world telling everyone we know and many we don't know exactly what you have done.

I hope you've already stolen enough money to live on.

They are starting the Syria is building WMD story again. I saw a Syrian WMD story on Fox News.
Bush wants to invade Syria if he can't invade Iran. Bush wants a new war in time for the November 2008 election.

ESPN has WVU vs Maryland during the same time frame. Your choice I would imagine is a hell of a football game, or our" pet goat" reading something (poorly) that someone else wrote.

March for Chimpeachment.

Saturday. High Noon. In front of the Whiteout House.

Spend a day, in the spirit of the Declaration of Independence, standing up for the Constitution of the United States of America.

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

Sound like any King George YOU know?

"He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation."

Victory will mean that local cities can raise their own rebuilding money from the international bond market.

Victory requires we stay until 'enough' Iraqi leaders are able to win without us.

Freeloader, I suggest you go to Michelle Malkin's blog. They have lot's of nice things to say about George over there. He maybe only one man, but he sure has done a lot of damage.

The disaster occured because of a combination of things. 1. Bush got elected.
2. Do nothing Republican majority in congress
3. 9/11 - tragedy but just the opening Cheney and his pals were looking for. I would not even be surprised if this administration in some way ignored the warnings in order to enable them to start a war.
4. Anthrax attacks which introduced the idea of WMD attacks against American civilians. This fear was stoked and further fanned into a flame with mention of Saddams supposed stockpile.

After this, it was just a matter of making it look like Saddam had something to hide. That wasn't very hard to do.

its hopeless. 1 in 3 people still think sadam hussein was involved with 9/11. bush has gotten a bump of 8% in the polls from the petreaus ploy, which was just the latest after, wmd, democracy, victory etc.
now the media is portraying moveon.org as a "socialist fringe left-wing ornanization" (cnn).
lets face it. in another poll only 22% polled said they are even paying great attention to the presidential debates.
reagan, who debunked 2500 years of western philosopy and the concept of constructive government, is a hero and carter is a "failed president" and clinton an ineffectual one.
anne coulter, limbaugh, savage, hannity, brit hume et al. get more airtime than anyone on the other side.
now its "we must win" in iraq - it used to be "we were winning". but the public didnt pick up the shift again.
its hopeless. the public cant pick up nuances.
democrats put forth plans and policies; fred thompson has no discernible ones.
but who catches the media's and the electorate's attention?
fake patriotism, name-calling and fabricated lies work. the republicans know this; roger ailes knows this. the neo-cons know this.
its true. the consitution means nothing. the republicans have discovered its vulnerabilities and slugged it right in the sweet spot.

Not sure if this has been posted but if not:

Tonight Bush is declaring we will be in Iraq forever.

Similar position to our South Korea deployment.
