Almost all the democratic candidates are proposing schemes that are "safe" in that they have been propsed before ... namely by Nixon in 1972.
Dr. Brad Kirkman-Liff from the W. P. Carey Business brings this up and more here: http://knowledge.wpcarey.asu.edu/index.cfm?fa=viewfeature&id=1471
Kucinich is proposing a single player national health insurance plan like they have in France. This would make Michael Moore extremely happy. However, is this not scary to anyone else?
I like Dennis for being principled, a good VP he would be.
If Edwards sticks to what he says, he would make a fine president for the US. One who will take care of its citizens finally.
No one's perfect but at least Edwards ( and Dennis ) are out there making some pretty tough statements.
One more thing, IMPEACH Bush and Cheney.
Iraqi insurgents kill key US ally
A key Iraqi Sunni ally of the US, who met President George W Bush last week, is killed in a bomb attack.
More bad news - but they painted a schoolhouse.
An brief moment of honesty repug?

Rare indeed.
Wow! That was very well done. I hope he can keep it up. I'm torn between Edwards, Dodd and Kucinich. Were they to combine in some way (P, VP, Sec. State) prior to the Primaries, I think they would be a shoo in for the Presidency. It would be nice to have actual Democrats in the Executive Branch, and they would be great for the down ticket vote!

[Dennis Kucinich} health care for all.
I was initially for Hillary, and possibly a Hillary/Edwards ticket in 2008. I have listened to all of the Democratic candidates speaking at debates and forums. Now I have decided I will support an Edwards/Hillary ticket very noisily. John Edwards speaks sensibly about important topics, and when the Iraq war is over, we will still have to do something about National Healthcare. Edwards in 2008!
John Edwards speaks sensibly about important topics.....like poverty. He arrives in his private jet, gets in a huge caravan of SUVs, gives his speech, and gets back in the private jet to his 35,000 square foot home or his 10,000 square food island summer home, which quantify 300 times the amount of "carbon footprint" of "us regular folk."
Of course John Edwards has money. Everybody knows that. Everyone running for President has money, because the chase for the highest office is very expensive. Some candidates can use their own money, some rely on voter support, and some are pimps for corporate lobbyists.
Tell me, when was the last non-brahmin-caste candidate elected to the presidency? Harry Truman? Even Saint Harry had ties to Missouri political machines. I would still have voted for him!
So what?
The most progressive president in our modern HISTORY, FDR, had boatloads of cash.
Guess what?
He was still (drumroll) the most progressive president in our modern history.
PS---Don't act as if the other candidates are "regular folk" working blue collar jobs and flying coach.
John Edwards speaks sensibly ....

You are brilliant, Tonya. It is clear that to have a candidate talk about poverty, he/she should at least be homeless.
Get a life.
Don't you have any real work to accomplish? This drivel you write can't possibly be very rewarding.
Hey, JamesR. You haven't bragged about this lately. Why is it only when the markets are down you post this?
http://finance.yahoo.com/
Your long term stategy for your paltry 401K plan must make you feel really insecure about it's future huh nitwit. It spins you out. heh
May I suggest putting all your funds into a high growth high risk fund right now? The iron is hot for a killing. Think of all the money you'll make! You could then quit your job as a telemarketer and get a real job as a financial advisor. Seriously.
the only solution to the healthcare problem is the most efficient one period. and thats a medicare-like system similar to most in every other "developed country".
if the rich love the current system there will still be plenty of doctors who specially cater to them.
debates like those about this issue of course are republican tactics to obfuscate and protect the current for-profit system.
same with iraq. "debates" about the "surge" and other aspects merely cloud over the obvious solution - diplomatic iniatives that bring in neighboring muslim countries, the u.n. nato etc.
"democracy", "standing down", the "surge", thinktank proposals etc. will precictably fail.
without non-ideological approaches based on the obvious, there is no "solution" in iraq nor to the healthcare crises, which is hampering our economy.
but the media will continue to present two sides to these issues, as if there are two sides. until that stops there wont be any solutions, barring a democratic landslide in 08.
where's Dennis Kucinich?
In Syria.
Liar.
Edwards is now against the war. When he had the chance he voted for it. Kucinich is the only one who who was brave enough to vote against it. Kucinich has the only real universal health care plan All the others merely want to mandate insurance coverage not health care! Insurance sucks up a third of our health care dollars and contributes nothing. Oddly enough all the other candidates, Edwards included get money from Insurance interstes. What a coincidence. Listen to Kucincih and you will be moved. The man is the only true leader running in either party.
Dennis Kucinich spent three hours with Ed Schultz on his radio program yesterday and ...damn... the man speaks the truth. He isn't playing politics. He is the only one who will be able to right the wrongs of the past administration. His basis for thought is the Constitution. Strength through Peace.
Why does the MSM ignore him? Maybe because he isn't being bought and paid for?
I respect and admire Kucinich a great deal. He is right on many major issues.
He is also completely unelectable as president.
He is a purist, and lacks the pragmatism and ability to compromise required of a national leader.
Politics, when done the right way, is all about the art of compromise. Taht's how things get accomplished.
I love Kucinich, but I'm tired of hearing about how Edwards voted for the war. His me cupla was sincere and humbler, you aren't going to get that from Hillary and Bushw ill never admit it was a mistake.
I'm okay with it.
Saudi Arabia Born al-Qaida - At it again.
The Bush Self-Graded Report takes it's first Toll ... Security Galore in IRAQ ...
""The most prominent figure in a U.S.-backed revolt of Sunni sheiks
against al-Qaida in Iraq was killed Thursday by a bomb planted near
his home in Anbar province, 10 days after he met with President
Bush, police and tribal leaders said.
Abdul-Sattar Abu Risha was leader of the Anbar Salvation Council,
also known as the Anbar Awakening an alliance of clans backing
the Iraqi government and U.S. forces.
Officials said his assassination would be a huge setback for U.S.
efforts in Iraq, because it sends a message to others who are
cooperating with coalition forces or thinking about cooperating
against al-Qaida.""

One hates to speak ill of the dead, but that guy was reportedly one nasty piece of work. His demise might not be such a bad thing. We have gotten into bed with enough flea bags.
Health care shouldn't be a product such as a brand of shampoo. For profit HMO's and other such for profit insurance scams do not produce better health care(in fact just the opposite),just a way more expensive system. It deprives people of getting better health care, and screws the medical providers in the process by paper work and private sector bureaucrats working at behest of the insurers. It is an immoral system. And shameful. As a country we have close to 50 million with 14 million children uncovered. All non third world countries have national health coverage with the exception of the US and South Africa. A lot of middle class people are ONE major health issue away from losing everything they have built and worked for. And if the for profit insurers get their way, some times their very life. The carnival barkers will continue to convince the dimwits among us that we have the best health care system blah blah blah in the world and medicare doesn't work. It is more efficient because the middle men are removed from it. And they will take that away from everyone also if given the chance. All repugs and most dems do not represent the people anymore. They are turning this once great self sufficient country into a third world country. And most citizens are just one major medical issue from ruin and ending up on the public dole. Of course the insurers will take all their profits first, deny complete payment to providers and the taxpayer will get the rest of the bill. Health care in the US.
Good scam. Thanks representatives.
More like Jesse Jackson every day.

Oh! C'mon. That's a pathetic hit job. Let's get serious and not get into that kind of gossip and trashy stuff. You can find that kind of trash against any candidate.
I will never again click on a link posted by you.
PAH-lease! This blog is one of the most amateurish I've ever seen. You can't even say it's a good diary let alone journalism.
By his definition EVERYONE in politics (or business for that matter) is a phony.
By their ACTIONS shall you know them.
