Howard, we've missed you Howard. I hope you're reading this. We need you to get loud and stir-up the pot.

I'm a faithful lifelong (60 years+) Democrat , and have stayed true to party even through the the many losses from Humphrey (lost for taxes stance) to McGovern (the Eagleton mess) to Mondale (more taxes) etc etc. ***Tip; Democrats don't like taxes either -- we pay too much already.

I've heard it said that the Democrats can always find a way to loose ---- it may be true. But its time to stop playing games. Bush and his pack of thieves have robbed this country of all that is near and dear right down to the Bill of Rights (and the wimpy Democrats in charge , allowed this to happen). We can't afford any more mistakes on our part. Its damn-well time to step up to the plate and put a stop to whats happening in Washington. Scream , shout, use the new Republican book of dirty tricks against them, shut down the damn government if neccessary -- whatever it takes , but get these fools under control.

I hate to say this but things are "so" far off-track that I think "now" is the time for NADER. No joke; we need an intelligent leader with guts -- that would be Nader (or at least a Wesley Clark). Tip; Hillary , Obama & Edwards don't stand a snowballs chance in hell of winning --- unless , judt maybe , they take this opportunity to STEP UP TO THE PLATE and show what being a leader really means.

I think the world of Dean. He took our party after the DLC and Clinton poodle, McAuliffe ran it into the ground, reopened offices and got them out of hock and bought them the simple office supplies needed, expanded our reach from 17 states to all 50, hired new staff and put people in the offices.
He strengthened our party, was a big reason we won and we have more money now then in a very long time. He also moved us away from the dlc right back to our usual place.
he redefined the party and made us proud democrats again.
However, if Hillary gets the nomination she will crush Dean, replace him with a dlc toady and put us right back into the sorry state we were in before Dean and move us to be shadow republicans again.
Support Dr. Dean and don't vote for Hillary.

Kay, why don't you post more on the HuffPo blogs? You always have informed, intelligent comments and frankly, most people don't read the news comment threads much, too much crap to wade through.

Dean is terrific.

But he didn't lose the nom because of the scream. He had to drop out because he ran out of money, and he ran out of money because he had an extremely high burn rate early on. When there was a lul in fundraising, as happens to everyone, he couldn't cover himself.

Just for the record, I didn't post the donation stats because the troops are so special, or I'm a big General worshipper, I posted it because I thought it was interesting, and wanted to see what Thalia and JojO thought.

It's not required reading.

I actually think the President punted, again, and is hiding behind the General and the State Department and "the troops". I think anyone who thought the General was going to contradict the President is kidding themselves, and the President laid out the line 2 weeks prior to the testimony. It isn't a general's role.

The latest deception is that Bush is a hero for agreeing to draw down the troops next year.

They're due for a rotation!

Bush is just so dishonest. I don't see any point in even listening to him tonight. He has no crediblity (he actually never did, but now there is no excuse for anyone to not know it).

I think they put a more credible face on the Iraq war. I think he took the House Republicans advice, and it was good political advice.
I don't think it has anything at all to do with the War in Iraq. All four Iraq said basically the same thing. The single point of contention is civilian casualties, and that can be easily explained.
The testimony added nothing, and actually decreased clarity, if that's even possible.

Alrighty then, I have to get going. Nice chatting with you.

Thaliar can now go and reply to my post (she always waits about an hour or so)

and by the way...just as the spin goes..the GOP demonized Howard Dean just like they demonized Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan, and anyone who was against war......the powers that be use News stations-pundits to make clowns, or ridicule these individuals to control people's opinions...sort of like mind control....and why? they are afraid they may influence you! They don't like anyone against their war...right now they are doing everything possible to block the Sept 15th March on Wash,DC - it should be huge -wake up people!

BAGHDAD - The assassination Thursday of the leader of the Sunni Arab revolt against al-Qaida militants dealt a setback to one of the few success stories in U.S. efforts to stabilize Iraq, but tribesmen in Anbar province vowed not to be deterred in fighting the terror movement.

American and Iraqi officials hoped the death of Abdul-Sattar Abu Risha would not stall the campaign to drive al-Qaida in Iraq from the vast province spreading west of Baghdad and reconcile Sunnis with the Shiite-led national government.

I wonder what the sheiks views are on the 'security' in Anbar Province that General Sockpuppet Petroleum was bragging about the other day? I'd ask him, but dead men tell no tales.

Aren't you a little early John? The loonbat migration into irrelevency isn't scheduled until next year.

Ambassador Ryan C. Crockashiite says Baghdad "never looked better". Let's ask the Sunni sheik if he agrees - oops he's dead. Can't answer questions when yer dead. I hope Baghdad looks better than he does.

Did you see this? Interesting:)

"September 13, 2007 | Assessed favorably this week by the war's lead general, the presence of U.S. troops in Iraq appears to be causing a surge of another sort—and one that's not positive for President Bush or the Republican Party. Since the start of the Iraq war in 2003, members of the U.S. military have dramatically increased their political contributions to Democrats, marching sharply away from the party they've long supported. In the 2002 election cycle, the last full cycle before the war began, Democrats received a mere 23 percent of military members' contributions.* So far this year, 40 percent of military money has gone to Democrats for Congress and president, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. Anti-war presidential candidates Barack Obama and Ron Paul are the top recipients of military money.

"People are saying now enough is enough," said Lt. Col. Joyce Griggs, an intelligence officer who said she spent two months in Baghdad earlier this year, speaking for herself and not the Army. "If you're a soldier, you're going to do your job, do what you're commanded to do. But that sentiment is wide and deep."

Griggs, who voted for George H.W. Bush but not his son the current president, contributed to Obama's presidential campaign this year, she said. Among the military forces, she's not alone in her support for the Democratic senator from Illinois, who has spoken out against the war since its start. Obama, who has never served in the military, has brought in more contributions from uniformed service members—about $27,000—than any other presidential hopeful, Democrat or Republican. "I feel that he's the most progressive candidate and he stands for change," Griggs said. "I believe he is that breath of fresh air that we need to get this country back on course."

Among GOP candidates, Ron Paul, the only Republican who opposes the war, has brought in the biggest haul from the military since the start of the 2008 election cycle in January—at least $19,250. "

Two of the seven soldiers who wrote that op-ed that was in the New York Times have been killed, and one seriously injured.

That's almost a 50% casualty rate.

But things are going swell in Iraq, dontcha know?
04:15 PM on 09/13/2007
the troll death spasm is a joyto behold.
They are beginning to understand their Party is decimated and the Dems will rule for 40 years.....hopefully we progressives will continue the purge of reactionary Dems.

That's my hope as well.
Put conservatives back where they belong, acting as a throttle for the inevitable change.

Attn: General Sockpuppet Petroleum, they just whacked yer main man among the Sunni. Where the hell was the 'security'? If you can't protect the Big Guys, what chance do the little guys have???
