China Ends Policy Of "Panda Diplomacy"

The world's cuddliest diplomats are out of a job. China will no longer give giant pandas to foreign countries as a way of improving international relations, the domestic media has reported. Ending an ancient tradition, wildlife officials said the endangered animals would only be lent for breeding and biological research.

But questions are likely to be raised about the financial motives behind a decision that looks likely to boost the lucrative business of renting out the animals to zoos for as much as $1m (£490,000) a year.

"Mr Cao said the gifts to the two Chinese islands were a special case of "sending pandas between brothers"

Taiwan is not a "Chinese Island". It is a sovereign nation that refused to be duped by the trojan horse that was in the form of 2 Pandas.

Time for the western media to wake up to reality.

BUT U.S. CONTINUES POLICY OF "PANDER DIPLOMACY"...

Pandering to the Republican right wing, that is.

They should do what we do:

Send a jackass to their embassy.

And which jackass do you think the White House staff should send?

How about "Fredo" Gonzales? I've heard he's not been doing anything lately. And, doesn't he look kinda like a panda bear? He's got that fat face and chubby cheeks--the pandas would fight over him! LOL

We should try panda diplomacy in Iraq. Nothing else has worked.

forget panda diplomacy. think remote controlled bio-engineered panda combat systems, with cameras and weapons strapped to their backs. success!

The panda laughs at the idea of being consumed by a lowly humanoid-type creature. The panda knows that in the hierarchy of the world's creatures, the panda is the object of intense devotion. The panda has quite skillfully climbed to the top of the food chain by consuming vast quantities of eucalyptus, gathered and delivered by the lowly humanoid creatures, while the panda naps.

Same diff ... koalas, pandas ... they lay around and sleep while the humanoids gather their grasses of choice for mealtime offerings. They're such cute buggers that their place is secure in the cosmos. If the aliens came down and saw either pandas or koalas, they'd set up sanctuaries for the furry critters whilst harvesting the humanoids for their own dinners.

Happyfella:

Come on, man, look at that beautiful animal! So cute, furry and round. How can you even consider killing it?

Sorry, but I love ALL animals and they have a RIGHT to live on our earth, just like we've been given the right to live here.

Animals are not here just for our selfish pleasure!

I haven't read Happafella's other posts, but from his posts about the panda, I don't thik it's a big deal. His comments remind me of the bumper sticker that says, "I love cats - they taste like chicken." It's funny once you get past the initial shock. (Now, if the person who put that sticker on the car actually kills cats, then that's a different story.)

Now, I've got a cat that I love dearly, and have loved dogs since I was a child, but I think Happyfella has a dark sense of humor, and that's it from what I can tell.

and on....When happyfella wonders how the panda would taste slow cooked over a wood fire with a fine BBQ sauce, I'm reminded of Hannibal Lecter's idea of a good feed: human flesh with a side of fava beans and a good Chianti. Just a joke, boys and girls.

Yep, animals DO have rights--they have the right to be LEFT ALONE where they live in the wild and not have us humans hunting them down to extinction!

Last week, in a story about Global Warming and glacial ice melting, Happy Fella responded to my concern for the polar bears survival--and the rapid deterioration of their environment. Bascically, he said I should "put one (polar bear) in my basement and feed it to my kids." Nice huh?

He is very depraved and very sick!

Why are you posting here? To read your own crap I imagine.
Maybe incite some name calling. How interesting (for you).
The point of posting comments and opinions on any blog is to offer something intelligent or useful to the conversation. You are obviously neither.
No one is really interested in what some dull reject that only talks out of their ass thinks. Personal opinion or otherwise.
There just no use for it, unless you're in Jr. High. Not even then really.
You are wasting your own time and mine.
