Alan Greenspan says don't blame him for the latest market turmoil.

The former Federal Reserve chairman said critics who have argued recently that he helped bring on the crisis in the market for risky home loans by cutting interest rates for three straight years "are mistaken.

"It was our job to unfreeze the American banking system if we wanted the economy to function," Greenspan told CBS' "60 Minutes" during an interview to be broadcast on Sunday.

Sir Allen, (it is Sir Allen you know, you peasants) You are to the American, and global economy, what Feagin was to Oliver. If we can somehow manage to extricate your scrotum from the mouth of Pajeff3, we think it would make a splendid pinnata.

You've got to pick a pocket or two, ohhhhh
you've got to pick a pocket of two.

This sub-prime loan debacle came right from the top.Thirty years ago you had to prove where you worked, how long and how much you earned. Then you handed in your previous years tax return to prove it.Then you had to be able to make a mortgage payment that was equal to approximately thirty percent of you pay. When did this change, who changed the rules to let people report their own income to get a mortgage?Sure the lenders did all they could to earn a commission.Sure the borrower lied to get a mortgage, they want a home with a roof over their head too.But someone was responsible for changing these rules and I would bet it was someone that was well aware of all the ins and outs of the business.I know this may seem like a small penalty but shouldn't we find this person(probably a group of persons and some lawmakers),make sure we strip him/her of all their ill gotten gains and send him/her off to prison? How else can you stop this kind of thievery?Everyone has to know they can and will go to prison for committing a crime that approaches treason when you see it's affect on the economy. This is white collar crime to the nth degree.

Alan,

Have you forgotten all the cheap dollars that you provided Bill as President? Have you forgotten the part you played in the Leo Wanta Trillions of dollars that have been stolen by Cheney and friends? Or the money that you took to become easy man on easy street with a flood of counterfeit money?

You have enabled people to create this problem and claim no responsibility. Spineless crud.

As your friend Dick would say, "Go Fuck Yourself"

Greenspan put the brakes on one of the most prosperous times in the economy.

His delusional reasoning that a busy and thriving economy would push inflation out clearly ignored and contradicted what was happening.

The middle class was happy, busy and making money. Prices were stable and if you factor in the Canadian and mexican woprkforces, there was more labor available to keep the economy going at a healthy clip.

Factor in productivity increasing at a very nice clip, the dreams of many were coming true. A retirement with enough wealth to live comnfortably and peacefully.

for some reason, Greenspan ignored that. People talk about " irrational exhuberance ', so what, we are entitled, the market needs no help from greenspan in deciding when and what it does.

Personally, I got clobbered. Why, because I bet on companies that were splitting waves of light into multiple spectrums. I invested in companies that had grand ideas but were unable to sustyain themselves in the face of a continuing attack by greenspan.

Some lost money on companies that didn't play by the rules, who's rules, where was the SEC, where were the accouintants and auditors.

The retail investor, got slammed by Greenspan because we were ill equipped to understand that his negativity would plummet an industry into negative territory wiping out billions and billions of retail investors pqaper profits. Look, the world was coming to the US, the US was the place to be, The US dollar was better then gold, imagine, painted paper. This bastard didn't like that, something caused him to crtash it.

Was he responsible, hell yes.

America is being destroyed from within, in a number of ways. One of the biggies is the economy.
The rich will soon be buying for 10 cents on the dollar. People will be willing to do most anything for a little food. The murderous regime in power will find many willing freaks willing to kill for money. The enmey is within is obvious. Their success is made easy by the FOOLS that are within. One only needs to look at this thread, to see the actions of the fools. Chanting mindless chants, provided them by the enemy within. Stayed tuned boys and girls, the next GREAT Depression, will usher in World War III.

If they counted inflation the correct way and included oil and medical costs and insurance, then most funds and stocks have not beaten inflation.

BobSF,
Clinton was an excellent tag team partner for the bush crime family. Americans who think either family cares for the American people, are a huge part of the problem. Our Founding Fathers had some excellent suggestions of what to do. Sorry-Ass Americans sit on their pampered asses, waiting for someone else to take action. The FOOLS are within.

This SOB is too old to think straight and has been for a long time – born in 1926. He’s functionally senile. I vividly recall him recommending people take out ARMs in about 2004/5.

I am going to personally see he goes down in history as the most incompetent major finance minister ever – a bigger dolt than John Law. If I have to I’ll write the book myself.

What burns me up is we pay Greenspan a pension, while he has been advocating cutting back benefits on Social Security and Medicare.

They plan to balance the budget by cutting out everything but war.

Not only is Greenspan not responsible but he also denies knowing where the missing two trillion dollars are under GW.

The old bitch spoke in runes, letting the little people scuttle around trying to discern some meaning, when he was just another bu$hler enabler. He made going down the drain look happy pretty.

Conservative Republicans never ever take responcibility for anything. Unless of course its something positive and someone else did it.
