I Like ItI Don’t Like It

The New York Times:

Now that President Bush and General David H. Petraeus have charted their course for the Iraq war, Democrats in the Senate say one of their proposals aimed at shifting the president's strategy is finally close to winning enough Republican support for a real chance at being approved.

The proposal, by Senator Jim Webb, Democrat of Virginia, would require that troops spend as much time at home as on their most recent tour overseas before being redeployed. Top Democrats said the practical effect of adding time between deployments would be to force Gen. David H. Petraeus to withdraw troops on a substantially swifter timeline than the one he laid out before Congress earlier this week, and would protect troops from serving protracted and debilitating deployments.

This is how you support the troops, Republicans, and not just by saying "God Bless the Troops", and doing everything to increase their suffering.

When you call the people killing our troops "Freedom Fighters", is that supporting the troops?

It's just referring to the Iraqis as they see themselves.

It has nothing at all to do with US military forces.

Why do you concentrate on side issues that have no real meaning?

Are you incapable of seeing the fighting from a different viewpoint?

Senators better be aware that their vote for or against this proposal will follow them to their next election.

It will be fun to campaign against any who vote against this. All of those might as well just not bother to run again.

Webb is no fool. This is a perfect move all the way around.

Good for the troops. Good for the Dems.

And politics aside, there will be no better champion for the troops than Jim Webb in the Senate.

That's good for the troops. We'll take it

It does little to end the fraud in Iraq.

They must cut off all funding for the fraud.

Mind blowing.

What's that, $9 billion? A mere drop in the ocean, compared to the $500 billion we've spent killing Iraqis.

Hello Hume, old friend.

You seem to actually be supporting the troops with your statement. I've even read recently where you said "God Bless the Troops".

How do you reconcile your support for the troops with the fact that you call the people killing them "Freedom Fighters".

I'm not questioning your patriotism, I didn't automatically think you were against the troops because of your political proclivity...

It's just that when you call the people who are killing U.S. soldiers "Freedom Fighters", and liken them to the Minutemen of our Revolution, it kind of leads one to believe that you favor the people killing our troops.

It's quited dichotomous to call the people killing our troops "Freedom Fighters", yet show such concern for them.

Help me out here.

Smelly,
You continually amaze me with the the level of your intelligence, it keeps going down by the day.

There is no contradiction between wanting safety and well being of the troops and opposing the fascists who sent them there.

The people fighting against a foreign ocuupying force are, by definition "freedom fighters".

As to whether you question my patriotism, guess what? I don't really give a shit about what you question because I don't find your opinions of any value whatsoever. Why? Because your opinions come from an ignorant and defective mind.

I agree it is the best that the democrats can do without the republicans help. I just hope the repugs will go along with this bill so the troops can get the rest they need. Sen. Webb knows better than anyone how thin the troops are streached and how tired they must be getting. Everyone should support Webb and ask their Congressman and Senator to support it for the troops. If the republicans do not support this bill and pass it then the democrats should use it against them in the next election.
