Iraqi lawmakers said on Saturday that Washington should take responsibility for the turmoil in Iraq and stop blaming Baghdad, Iran and Syria.

Frustrated by criticism from the United States over their slow progress towards political goals meant to foster national reconciliation, Iraqi leaders said Washington would be better served by examining its own progress in the unpopular war.

Fine. If the U.S. is the problem then bring the troops home and quit supporting the failed Iraqi government with U.S. taxpayer dollars.

Yes, blusnot. The US is the problem.

The iraqi is only failed because of the US invasion.

The Iraqi people and nation never asked for our tax dollars.

What you need to do is quit supporting a criminal administration and get your head out of your ass.

How about that.

Iraqi's leaders don't mind letting Bush know, that he is the cause of this chaos in the first place. Who can blame them.

What blame?! Everything is okay but the failure to meet a couple of stupid benchmarks. Oh by the way - Greenspan thinks that Bush is after your oil and Ray Hunt a good friend of Bush just undermined the new oil sharing law. Have a nice day!

Hope the lawmakers in Iraq have plenty of K-Y, cause Bush isn't done with them yet.
It's almost funny that they seem surprised by Bush's actions. Perhaps those guys need to read HuffPo... someone send them a laptop.

You talk about 'inflaming' the masses. Damn.

The headline isn't supported by anything in the accompanying story except for a quote fully 3/4ths the way thru.

The sad truth is the Kurd Lawmaker is RIGHT!
Stop blaming others and DO SOMETHING about it.

We 'broke' Iraq, it's our responsibility to 'FIX' Iraq.

Iraqi's legislators have a point really. They represent--sort of--what Bush claims is an independent and sovereign nation. American has a right to withhold its support if the government of said sovereign nation fails to please. This is our right since foreign aid of any type rarely comes without strings (unless the money goes to Israel of course). Our Congress has no right to instruct or blame the Iraqi legislators for anything any more than Iraqi legislators have the right to instruct or blame ours. Finger pointing in international affairs is almost inevitable however so when these sorts of things occur, the two squabbling countries either agree to disagree and carry on business as usual, adjust policies as compromise, or, cut back or break off economic relations.

Why any American would expect the majority of Iraqis to be grateful for an illegal invasion, a wrecked society and economy, and displacing and causing the dealths directly or indirectly of tens if not hundreds of thousands of people. Sure, some Iraqis might be grateful for the invasion (perhaps Kurds) and others might even see the need for our continued presence. But the only Iraqis who will state they appreciate the invasion will be the one's who believe it was to bring them democracy and from what I can see there are't a lot of Iraqis who buy that argument.

Our government should adjust its policies to reflect Iraqi sentiments, politics, and the real situation, began a phased withdrawal, or shut the fuck up about Iraqi failings.

KUT, Iraq " American commanders in southern Iraq say Shiite sheiks are showing interest in joining forces with the U.S. military against extremists, in much the same way that Sunni clansmen in the western part of the country have worked with American forces against Al Qaeda.

Sheik Majid Tahir al-Magsousi, the leader of the Migasees tribe here in Wasit province, acknowledged tribal leaders have discussed creating a brigade of young men trained by the Americans to bolster local security as well as help patrol the border with Iran.

He also said last week's assassination of Abdul-Sattar Abu Risha, who spearheaded the Sunni uprising against Al Qaeda in Anbar province, only made the Shiite tribal leaders more resolute.

"The death of Sheik Abu Risha will not thwart us," he said. "What matters to us is Iraq and its safety."

The movement by Shiite clan leaders is still in the early stages but offers the potential to give U.S. and Iraqi forces another tactical advantage in curbing lawlessness in Shiite areas. It also would give the Americans another resource as they beef up their presence on the border with Iran, which the military accuses of arming and training Shiite extremists.

Similar alliances with Sunni tribes in the western Anbar province helped break the grip of groups such as Al Qaeda in Iraq and were widely cited in the Washington hearings as a major military success this year.

Yes! Bush, Cheney, and Rice should listen up. Bush was not invited to occupy Iraq. More to the point, Iraq had no desire to be occupied. The Administration's never-ending insistence that Iraq "stand up" is just plain dumb. How can it do that when a form of government is being foisted on them that is unlike anything most of them have ever experienced?

Bush and the "slogan-a-day" gang certainly can't teach anyone how to live in a democracy. All they are capable of is screwing up democracies.

The infrastructure Iraq once had, and which it must have to form any lasting government has been completely destroyed by occupation forces. Iraqis are so contemptuous of the U.S. at this point that most of them are more than willing to destroy even the few quality-of-life improvements occupation forces have tried to replace. It's one of Iraq's ways of telling Bush and all western occupation forces to go away, not that Bush listens.

If the rebuilding effort is turned over to an accepted regional authority, chances are much better that arms will be put down and serious efforts will be made to undo the damage. It will not bring Shiites and Sunnis back to live in the same neighborhoods, but they may work side-by-side for a common good.

But first, Bush has to stop meddling in Iraq's politics, religion, and social structure.
