Rudy's new political ad attacking Hillary Clinton features multiple pictures of General Petraeus in uniform -- but now the Pentagon says that the General "has not condoned" the use of his image in Rudy's ad or any other political ads, adding that it was done "without his consent."

Rudy's Web ad -- launched yesterday -- features images of a uniformed Petraeus as a narrator's voice in the background accuses Clinton of slandering the General. In the ad, the Giulilani campaign also faults Clinton for not forcefully condemning a MoveOn ad in The Times that also features a picture of Petraeus.

Not only were these pictures taken at public functions but Patraeus works for Americans. We are his true Boss ,just as All Politicians are in our service...though they don't act like it.
We pay their salaries and they need to be forcibly reminded of this.

The same brainiacs at the pentagon who armed the Sunnis who have been killing American soldiers all this time, are now pitching a hissy fit about the creep general's PICTURE being on a MoveOn ad.

This points a laser beam on priorities in this so called government we are stuck with...The republic stooges don't turn a hair when the casualty numbers keep going up, but they get in a royal snit about MoveOn daring to call the brasshead what he is...what a joke they are. Miserable creeps.

Actually it's even more than FAIR USE (the use of a copyright picture or photograph of a person --typically a celebrity-- without authorization, for journalistic purposes, that's why the paparazzi are allowed to work...), it's ==PUBLIC DOMAIN.== Anything owned and run by the government is NOT copyrightable, including images of officials while performing their functions (i.e. General Petraeus is only entitled to his image rights outside his work schedule.)
Did you know that every unclassified or declassified document, photograph and footage issued by the government (and that includes the military) falls in the public domain? For example, military photographers and videographers can't claim copyrights on their work (unless it's something they shoot privately off hours.)
Works the same way in pretty much every democracy, where supposedly the government is the people's representative body, ergo government copyrights make no sense (yes, I know, the Queen officially still retains the infamous "Crown Copyright", but it's an exception and a relic of the past and, as far as I know, it's widely ignored and violations are not prosecuted.)

Petraeus sold his soul to bush. When you sell yourself and become a public whore, you give up some rights to privacy and privilege. His picture should be used for what ever anyone wants it to be.
